  1. Even if it's a new hair, it could still have some flexi strands - there are still people that to have some movement in their hair. It could also be animesh (but if that is the case there would probably be a NC or something noting that). Is there a group for the store you purchased the hair from? If so, I'd suggest asking in the group if the particular hair style you have is supposed to be moving the way you've described.
  2. You don't have to do anything specific to "acquire" it - it's there ready for you to use when you decide how you want to use it. There are choices as to how it can be used: You could look for a 512 sqm parcel to buy on mainland (you'd need to pay the purchase price, but after that there would be no recurring monthly cost as long as you only had the 512 in Bellisseria and the 512 mainland parcel). You could look into some of the rental companies that rent out mainland parcels - I think there is at least one which will let you donate the 512 sqm tier as a credit for renting a parcel . You could donate tier to a non-profit type group which has mainland holdings and depends on people donating tier to their group in order for them to be able to keep their holdings - I'm thinking about some of the newcomer friendly organizations that have mainland locations for newcomer help, classes, hang-outs, etc. You could save it unused in case you want to move from the camper to one of the Bellisseria homes which are on 1024 sqm parcels (or to one of the new themed housing when the next new theme is ready). You could buy a larger than 512 sqm parcel on mainland, and use the 512 to offset part of the monthly tier billing for the larger parcel which takes you over the 1024 sqm total threshold.
  3. I don't know if we can tell really what the "market" wants - perhaps we can for the segment of the market for the communities that we're most familiar with, but I don't think there is anyone that has the visibility of the whole market. I prefer alpha layers to alpha cuts, and I also prefer system layers to applier layers. Other than the type of item that I would have used an applier for, I am wearing recent mesh clothing, rigged for the body I use - so I'm not in the category described as "stuck with their pre-alphas avatars, using painted on clothing and sleeves/collars made of prims...". I probably do not shop at the "big stores" though (I'm not exactly sure which ones those are), so I'm pretty sure I'm not in the same "market" as you, but I doubt that I am the only one. I'm in the market that agrees with the direction Slink's creator took - it meets my needs very well. It might be that I'm in not in the majority market, but for me that just means I'm living my SL pretty much the way I've lived RL - no matter how much I want to be like everyone else, no matter how much I want to be in the "in" crowd, there always seems to be something that keeps me from blindly committing to things or blindly following along just so that I'll fit in better.
  4. For clothes I had which didn't come with alpha layers, after I find the alpha layers that work, either from the 2 sets offered by Slink, or the Little Black Dress set, I make a copy of the alpha(s) and put them in the folder with the clothing item - then when I want to wear an item the appropriate alphas are right there, and if you make an outfit, they get saved with the outfit. There is the initial set-up' time for identifying which alpha layers are needed, but after that, I find it 'easier' than dealing with alpha cuts on a HUD.
  5. For anyone that may be interested, Peony's "The Little Black Dress" store has a box with a great assortment of alpha layers - I think it's 1L on the marketplace (so it can be gifted), but free at her in-world store location. There were a couple in her boxed set that weren't ones provided by Slink, so I was really pleased with what was included.
  6. They are often sold out, but there is generally a new region released each week day, plus people abandon one from time to time. So, it is possible to get one - it might just take a little time and attention. Here's a link that describes things that some people are doing: You might want to also take a look at the Knowledge Base article on Linden Homes, which has been updated to cover the new homes and their new features: So far, 4 different themes have been released, but there are another 4 themes in the works.
  7. Over the 5 years that I've been in SL, LL has lowered the cost of owning land (reduced mainland tier, plus reduced monthly cost of estates - full and homestead). Plus they have added value by increasing the amount of LI available on parcels (for example, from 117 to 175 LI on a 512 sqm). Additionally, for premium members, the amount of 'free' tier was increased from 512 sqm to 1024 sqm. LL does not have any obligation to make everything affordable for everyone in the world. For people that do not want to (or cannot) spend very much, there are a lot of freebies, group gifts, lucky chair gifts or midnight madness board gifts that can be quite nice - it just takes some time spent reading blogs about events and special deals and checking out various stores, but that does give one something to do, as well. If one pays attention to information about various mesh bodies and heads, it is even possible to get a very good deal on a mesh body. at various times throughout the year.
  8. If it's no longer on the front page, and if no one had commented on it or contacted you initially, then I wouldn't worry about it. If your parcel is not set for sale, no one can buy it anyway. If someone does contact you, just tell them it's no longer for sale.
  9. The dress is Stephanie Blue Gown from Twelfth Night Designs I really like the beautiful design work she does with textures. The link is to the in-world store - I don't know if she has a MP store or not.
  10. It's a small exhibition in Antiquity Spain. Antiquity Spain - RP - EXHIBITIONS If you do go visit it, be sure to click on all the artwork along the walls and the instruments displayed to receive NC's that identify the piece of art and the exhibit information about music in ancient times (as well as hearing how some of the instruments sound). (Thanks!)
  11. This should be in the Commerce -> Wanted section of the Forums. (You can report your post, and ask for it to be moved there.) You might also want to add a tad bit more information - what general type of costumes and for what types of bodies are a couple of things that come to mind.
  12. Just curious as to whether "reequipped" means you got a new copy of the item (either a new copy from the original box or a re-delivery)? I'm asking because I remember seeing posts where something happened (like an unusual viewer crash) and the scripts in an item or HUD stopped working. To fix it, they had to get a new copy of the item. Did anything out of the ordinary happen right before you noticed this problem of things not responding / not being able to be touched ?
  13. Threads that devolve from what ever SL connection or other innocuous topic they started out with, and end up being pages of political debate.
  14. I think that there is a lot of value from the Forums, even with the sections or posts that take an ugly turn. There is also a difference between how many use the forum in terms of being active posting in it, and the number of those that 'use' the forums as an information source and may not ever log in or post here themselves. Beyond the Answers section, there is a lot of information shared and people helped by many of the sections of the Creation forum, particularly in the scripting related sub-forums. When new functionality is underway - like Bento, Animesh, Bakes on Mesh - there is generally a thread started about it by one of the Lindens in the Creation forum, for feedback and discussion with creators and early adopters. There was a lot of discussion about jelly dolls and avatar complexity, so that when jelly dolls went live I felt like I understood what was going on, and didn't think my viewer or graphics were broken. I'm not sure that I would have gone to a mesh body and head if I hadn't been reading all the posts in the People forum answering other's questions about the process, plus seeing all the pictures in the 'how does your avatar look thread' and the 'vanity' thread. (Oddly enough, I think it was the thread started by Phil with all his questions about changing to a mesh avatar, that had enough helpful information contributed so that I felt like I understood enough to make the move as well.) I often read (or at least skim through) threads in the more technical sub-forums, even when I don't completely understand because it helps me to be more familiar with terms and techniques used, and sometimes there are little parts that I understand and can use in how I do things in-world. The entire 'Linden Homes' forum is very active and didn't even exist prior to the homes being released initially. I would like to think that it has been helpful and inspirational for those trying to get LInden Homes, or in decorating or becoming part of the Bellisseria community.
  15. Do you have RLV turned on? If you do, try turning it off, then relogging (or logging in with the LL viewer which doesn't allow RLV). Another thing to try would be the "Reset default female avatar (character test)" or selecting one of the starter avatars from within the viewer. If the automatic dancing stops, then recreate your normal avatar, adding one thing and a time and making sure the dancing doesn't restart. Once you get it resolved, I'd suggest saving a 'base' outfit of your normal avatar with just body and head that you can use as an easy restart if something odd happens again. It might take trying a few things, but I doubt that you would need to loose your avatar altogether because of this.
  16. Except for a couple of picture threads, I don't click a reaction button for every comment I read. I am more likely to click 'like' when a comment really resonates with me. If a comment basically says the same thing I would have said if I had posted a response, I will click the 'like' button rather than just saying the same thing in an additional comment. Sometimes I will click 'like' to show support for a position in a comment. I don't use the 'laugh' reaction very often, but when I do, it is because the comment actually made me laugh. I use the 'thanks' one when I want to thank some one for what they posted, be it information or explanation that is really helpful and important, or because someone corrected or clarified information that I had posted, or because someone has complemented me. I rarely use the 'sad' or 'confused'. There have been a couple of threads where someone apparently wanted some type of help, but what they posted was so unclear that I did respond with 'confused' (and hopefully I followed that up with a comment about why I was confused, and question(s) to get clarification). If I have used 'sad' before, it probably was used on a post that I would have rather used a 'hug' for. If I could edit the buttons, I would add a 'hugs' one.
  17. Out in my backyard, re-landscaped after getting some horses. This outfit is one I wish I had in RL - I have the boots and the leggings, and long sweater dresses, but just not with this kind of design.
  18. I could be wrong, but I took the feeling of liberty part as referring to owning a private region, i.e., even though she has to pay the additional VAT, the owning a region gives a feeling of liberty over renting or owning mainland.
  19. I try to log in to the forums at least every couple of days, if not every day. I do more reading than I do posting. I like feeling part of the forum community. When I was new, I think I may have started reading the "Answers" part of the forum even before I created my account. I have really learned a lot from the forum. There are a lot of things that affect performance that I would never have known about had I not been reading the forums. I like knowing something about the new things as they are being developed and introduced in-world, such as bento, animesh or BOM, for example. When I'm able, I like to be able to answer questions or explain things when others post questions or issues. I like the picture threads, because I like to see what others have been doing in-world or the places that they have discovered.
  20. I have an 11,264 sqm on mainland, along the Sandy Beach Trail on Gaeta 1. It extends back longways from the road, so my house is on the section farthest back from the road. I like having enough land that I can pretty much do what I want (within reason) without running out of available LI. I like setting up and decorating houses and the surroundings. From time to time I change houses or furnishings, or change up the landscaping and out-buildings. I have another account that shares the land with me, so we have it as group-owned. When we last expanded this parcel, neither of our accounts had a Linden Home, so the size of the parcel is exactly the 8,192 tier level, plus both our 1024 sqm allotments, plus the group bonus. However, now I also have a traditional house in Bellisseria. I've always liked having a linden home, along with whatever other land I've had. It's nice to have an alternate location to go to at times. My other account has a Victorian in Bellisseria. I'm also renting a little parcel on a friend's estate. The estate does seasonal changes, which is something that I don't do on my own mainland parcel. I have a little A-frame cabin there on the side of a hill, so I consider that my vacation home in the mountains. The challenge with having multiple homes is not having them all look the same inside. I do try to not use all the same furnishings in each house, though there are a few pieces that I always like to use. I think I probably buy more home and garden stuff than clothing and shoes these days. From time to time, I've rented a parcel in a region where I've been involved in role play, because it's nice to have a 'home base' for logging in and out of when going out to the region for RP. There is at least one thread for posting pictures of non-linden homes (and several threads devoted to just the new linden homes). I post in them from time to time, but don't think I've posted my current setup.
  21. at home reading, researching use of herbs in the 18th century, for a role play
  22. It's hard for someone else to know exactly what happened to someone else's camera view, but here's a page from the Firestorm wiki for fixing camera view issues, that might have some solutions for you: https://wiki.firestormviewer.org/fs_camera
