  1. I just looked on the inworld map with the "Land Sale" box checked, and there are parcels for sale all over the mainland continents, in just about all size variations from 16 sqm to full sim. Whether or not you can find one that you personally like, in the size you want, for the price you want, right now, is another question, but that doesn't mean the offer is a scam and that there are no parcels to buy. Another option is to put in a support ticket requesting to by abandoned land (or at least have the abandoned land put up for auction, so that you can then bid on it). The changes also made it cheaper to own larger parcels. Land availability changes all the time, but sometimes it takes consistent looking over a period of time to find the right parcel for you, that fits all your requirements. There are laggy private estate parcels, as well as laggy mainland parcels, and there are non-laggy mainland parcels, just like there are non-laggy private estate parcels. It varies by location in both mainland and private estates. I would not consider the changes a scam, at all.
  2. So far today, mostly RP related. At my little RP house cut into a big cliff.
  3. I like that idea of a rez area external. Because I see myself 'all there' when I TP someplace, I always wonder how long it takes others to be able to see me fully rezzed. I always hope that the time it takes for the scene to rez for me is a long enough time to wait.
  4. It works best, for group land, to purchase it for the group - and that option I think is only found when you have the group tag active, and you open the 'about land' to initiate the purchase (rather than the 'for sale' icon in the title bar) - I think. There was another thread in the last day or so that had some comments on the specifics of this.
  5. You should be able to donate the tier to your group, on the 'land' tab of the group dialog box in-world. When you have that group info open, that page will show the maximum that the avi can donate, and it will include the premium 1024. ETA: you can donate tier to your group, even if your group doesn't own any land yet. When you do this, be sure to do a purchase for group when you do buy land that is to be group-owned.
  6. I was able to donate my 'premium bonus', but I don't have any other mainland than the 896 sqm my group owns, which I donated my premium bonus for. I don't know if it's different at the full sim or higher levels.
  7. This is when we need Love to be here, posting one of the playful lion pictures, so we can all laugh and get our minds off all these numbers
  8. I was hasty, and did a major edit to my post almost immediately after posting it, and now can't seem to get rid of the first image I posted... Maybe it's time for me to go do something else
  9. Major Edit! I redid my test, putting in owning the full sim and donating 1024, and got the following: in which case it looks like Phil may be correct... ====================================================================================== ====================================================================================== and I can't seem to get rid of this image below through editing (it keeps popping back in), which conveys the wrong impression
  10. 16,384 is 1/4 sim - not a full sim (which is 65,536). However, when talking about the group bonus for tier, in general, this (1/4 sim) is where it really starts to pay off, I think. Which makes me wonder, if Love's full sim was group owned, would Love get 10% of the 65,536 donated tier as group bonus?
  11. When I was around 9 or 10, my dad took up playing Bulgarian bagpipes, so my sister and I went to sleep each night listening to him practice all evening. He also had some goat skins drying out in rock salt out in the carport, waiting to be used in making bagpipes.
  12. If you are referring to comments made shortly after the changes were implemented, where it seemed like there were differences with group land, those issues were resolved later that same day. There is no difference in how the new tier rates are applied between group-owned or single owner land.
  13. I think what Phil is referring to, is that your account already owns a full sim, so it's possible adding the 1024 to the account with the full mainland sim may put you into a different pricing level structure (which I think was mentioned in the original blog post about the changes). If I was you, before purchasing any land, I would go into the Land Manager -> Land Use Fees on the dashboard for your primary account, and use the estimating tool to try out various scenarios. It might be that you DO get the 1024 free on top of owning a full sim, but if it was me, I'd want to check that out before proceeding. This situation wouldn't apply to your premium alt.
  14. What I took from this, is that in really crowded places which have dress codes, they need to allow enough time for an arriving avi and their clothes to fully appear and snap into the right locations, and see how the clothes behave once the avi starts moving around, before they IM someone about not meeting a dress code requirement. Also, that they may need to modify their guidelines a bit to take into account mesh bodies and alpha cuts. Sometimes it's just easier to alpha-out the area instead of wearing panties (even applier panties) - and if applier panties were worn before turning on alpha cuts, the applier clothing doesn't appear either in those sections (so you could be wearing applier panties, but if the entire pelvic area was alpha'd out, no one would know that).
  15. I didn't realize that this RP relied on players being able to carry out their RP on other people's sims, especially when it appears that it can be disruptive to others. Interestingly enough, according to one of the FAQS on their wiki, their sim is a safe zone. I would expect the owner of the game to be responsive to complaints about it, and to have as a rule for their game that players cannot continue to play on a sim that has posted notices stating no angels and demons play on that sim. Perhaps they need to do some outreach to sim owners and establish some type of opt-in for sim locations that are open for the RP to take place on their sim (with the assumption that it is not allowed on any private sim that hasn't opted in). The idea of "grid-wide" games that don't respect non-players or private parcel/sim owner rights, doesn't sit well with me.
  16. I also use Firestorm, and I have no problem seeing the property lines when I have that option turned on (though they do seem fainter than usual, as Lil mentioned). Have you tried using the current LL viewer - just to see if you can see the property lines with that viewer? (Sometimes that's helpful for troubleshooting - knowing whether it happens in all viewers, or just one viewer). Also, have you asked the Firestorm group in-world? They may have other things for you to check that I'm not aware of.
  17. Thanks! This is one I really wish I had in RL.
  18. Caledon Oxbridge University has a free Basic Scripting class, and a Scripting Office hour. If you have the time, and the classes fit with your in-world schedule, I would recommend taking classes from several of the in-world teaching institutions. Different instructors will have a slightly different focus/emphasis/way of explaining things, so attending several classes on the same subject, from different places, can help round out the information you're learning.
  19. In the classic spirit of the day, checking on the plants in the garden behind my Garden Café in Bay City. Thought I saw a bee fly through...
  20. The variety of mesh bodies available - and the different features they may offer - is partly why I don't like the "just go get a free mesh body and mesh head" statements. Finding the 'right' body and head, and one that works with the availability of, and type of, clothing one likes to wear, is more of a process than just picking one up because it's free (or practically free).
  21. It seems like you are very critical. I don't examine other avatars that closely to notice all these supposed flaws - and mesh hands/feet fix some of the issues, I think. There are areas of the body in which the mesh body offers and improvement, and I would call it that - an improvement. I'm not really comfortable with people who use "superior" and "inferior" is such open and shut ways.
  22. I haven't tried wearing a mesh head with a system body - if I wear the system body, I just use the system head. However, I do use the same skin, hair (and usually same shape). I'm still not all the way over on the mesh head side - I recently (last week) picked up another one and am giving it a try. The last one I had and tried for several weeks earlier this winter I decided I didn't like and stopped wearing it.
  23. Unless one spends all their time at locations where everyone spends most of the time with their clothes off, I'm thinking that there is probably a good mix of mesh avies AND system avies with mesh hands/feet and mesh clothes at most places. The derogatory descriptions that the 'only-mesh' people use to describe system avies is outdated, I think. I think that a majority of system avis do take the time and spend the money to put together a nice looking avi, and in many places, with a casual viewing of others around, it may even be difficult to tell who has a system body and who doesn't. I still have some mesh standard-sized only clothing that I like, and even with 2 different mesh bodies available, I sometimes find that the particular standard-sized only clothing fits best on the system body, so I'll just wear the system body with that outfit. Sometimes when I'm looking back at some of my pictures, I have a hard time which body I was wearing. As I pointed out in a different thread, just because a person is all mesh, doesn't necessarily mean that the person wants to hang out with others where the main common interest is clothes and shopping for clothes and mesh bodies/accessories.
