  1. http://blog.nalates.net/2016/03/22/second-lifes-end-of-invisiprims/ I assume you mean these, ALM killed em.
  2. Notice: I do not create items for any human mesh bodies at this moment in time, those who wish to collaborate on a project should contact me via email. Hello, I'm offering services for custom mesh under a few guidelines and rules: - I have a few limits on what can and cannot be done (e.g. note 1), best thing to do is contact me and I can give you more than a yes or no. - NSFW is fine, I take pride in the work I'm doing regardless (Within TOS, Laws and common sense). - All items come with a full, final commission price, no more is paid upon agreement (with exceptions being additional requests made after) - Exclusive items (typically double the original price) have an additional fee, discussed in-world, otherwise all rights belong to me and I have the ability to do what I see fit with the item in question. - Be timely with our correspondence (Larger projects especially, you will still be charged for agreed hours) and make fair attempt to make me aware of any time you will be away for, as will I. Here's my store front for examples of my work you can attain a viewing by contacting me in world, details below on how to do that. What do you need from me? First of all, visit inzoxi.co.uk for pricing, if you're all set from there then go ahead and send me either a notecard in-world or an email with a basic overview of your project and any references (images) you can provide me with, we will work out a total from there. I won't be responding to any messages on this forum, please contact me either via email (hello@inzoxi.co.uk) or in-world at Zoxin Resident. Thanks, Zoxin inZoxi Creator,
  3. Don't ask don't get I suppose!
  4. Personally I usually reserve zeroing LODs on large stuff like statues or buildings (although I've found stuff at the max 60m are viewable at the highest(?) LOD at each sim corner), because by the time you get to even the second to last LOD setting, it's far out enough in the distance that it's either out of your render distance or you ain't paying attention to it. If I need to create something for an interior or something smaller, I will typically create custom LODs to forcibly keep a respectable shape at all distances, it's really not hard to achieve that low LI this way. I'm not entirely void of sin in this regard, though, there are simply some things you have to look closely at to notice zeroing and whilst not entirely justified, are not going to cause anyone to stay up at night as they cackle maniacally, plotting some sort of ludicrous plot to get me... ...I hope.
  5. Sounds like a UV map issue, couldn't say much more without seeing it.
  6. Perhaps look into particle systems on the mp, although I don't know of anything specifically like this.

  8. This is something that needs a serious backing behind it - it's been mentioned before that LL itself simply does not have the resources to start manually pulling content. I've reported many of the ripped mesh items to a few of the companies myself but little has been said or done, so I can only assume they don't particularly care or aren't aware of how to handle the situation. Amongst the obvious moral issues, another problem is it gets in the way of original content created and designed for native use in secondlife. Baiting customers into poor quality content is bad, but baiting them into poor quality content you didn't even create is much, much worse.
  9. Feel free to throw your ideas at me - I'm game for a fair split on any fun, smaller projects.

  11. Seems you didn't understand my point; just because it exists doesn't mean its correct - pirate software exists, that doesn't mean it has the right to exist. Whether a company wants to protect its rights is up to them.
  12. To weigh in as a creator, I reserve no-mod for scripts and whenever the marketplace feels like screwing me over (it loves delivering objects as no-mod). Else, many creators, myself included, host a repository for textures/models (some reservedly *Ahem*) for modders to use as templates - who am I to restrict another persons creativity, especially in a place like Second Life? I don't speak for all content creators and you should always try to respect an artists point of view when it comes to using their work, this will forever be a back and forth subject.
  13. Curious, underwater bikes? Are they a significant enough thing I look stupid not to know about? =)) What's stopping you from using above-water tracks?
  14. Rare isn't a factor in copyright regardless, any "creators" playing 'he did it, she did it' will be pulled when they're found out. I'm certainly not an expert in copyright laws, but were I so stupid as to accept a job like this, I'd be: A: Breaching copyrights and risk being rightfully caught for it. B: Contributing to an already fairly big problem on the market regarding stolen content. C: Going back on the idea that I support fellow creators in being acknowledged for their work, no matter how big or small. Being inspired and deriving original works is great, asking for rights for use is always an option, using common sense is forever, but selling (the act of using content is another subject entirely) content without license to do so is theft and a lot of people don't seem to get that through their heads. There's a ton of stores serving to the anime community and beyond, you'd be surprised how inspired some people can truly be - I'd suggest you get your fix through them and use the places tab under search in-world.
  15. I will ALWAYS encourage people to try their hand at modelling, it's becoming an increasingly relevant skill in the world today. You can also learn a lot at https://www.cgcookie.com/ and is generally the first place I point people to if they're serious about getting into it. As said prior to this post, check and compare creators and their portfolios, some art types will appeal more to certain projects than others - we all have our specialities and come from very different backgrounds. Here's things you should do in order to get the response you need from a mesh creator: - Be sure to give a short description; Detail what you need your item to do (such as framework for a scripter). - For clothes, mention the body and any third party products you're wanting to possibly use it with. - Provide reference images, this is wholly important as it allows you to visually share your idea. - Ensure and proof read your request, go through it with your creator as any additions to the original project could incur you a charge to do so. - Be aware of agreements between you and the creator (get it in writing), lay out rules such as if you want it to be exclusive to you and not be resold by the creator. - Be professional and have patience, you'll get a much better product out of a creator who's having fun making your items - maybe an extra feature or two, too!
  16. That's fine for you, but your statement only pertains to you in this case - 8 gig should be fine seeing as their current specs were bare minimum to begin with and don't seem to be planning on anything more than using the viewer.
  17. Wowza, that's a lot of ram you certainly don't need! Here's my current setup: CPU: AMD A8-6600K APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics (3892.9 MHz) Memory: 8144 MB OS Version: Microsoft Windows 10 64-bit (Build 15063) Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 970/PCIe/SSE2 As much as I'm looking to upgrade, I do find this to be totally suitable for general SL usage - you could even downgrade the card quite a bit, maybe look into the nvidia 950? If anything, at least get a PC with a decent CPU as SL's foundation is OpenGL so you'll potentially get a nice performance boost there.

I'll say this; Prepare for much higher offers than the one you list - bento rigging (and rigging in general) is no easy feat.
  19. I can't say outsourcing is a good idea, especially given the fact you don't know where to even start regarding texturing itself. Perhaps back up on that idea of giving up and do some research. At the start of this year, I was fairly weak in texturing, now I'm creating every texture map in the book for myself - the idea you wanted to realise likely won't ever come close to "reality" if you attempt to outsource texture creation. As Chic mentioned, go learn Cycles, it's a brilliant render environment and its foundations are easy to use once you get the general gist of it. Of course there's more to textures than just pretty colours, but there's a thousand and one material studies out there using cycles too. Google 'Blender Guru Cycles' will have you going in no time, it's a pretty tried and tested tutorial. TL;DR: Do not outsource, patience is king, go learn cycles render engine.

    Why?

System avatar, sure it's a not even a smidgen of the market it used to be but I guess it's still there. Otherwise adapt and support your favourite body meshes.

  22. Perhaps, as far as anything health related that I know of, I did some building work for the people over at Southern Tier HealthLink many (many) years ago. Rather than me attempting to explain what/who they are, you can go visit their sims here and their website here.
  23. This isn't really an effect that can be achieved in SL - The only kind of refraction we get in-world is the sim water from Windlight. If you do bake glass from blender it's only going to look correct from certain angles, just go with the inworld method of specular and transparency, even bake a solid fake reflection map for the glass. Remember, live games are all about fakery to appease the memory used, not CGI.
