  1. Imagine the bride tossing one of these at her wedding ... "Catch!"
  2. I get turned on by clowns. I don't think, I look at the appropriate studies and reflect on their findings. Coulrophobia was quite recently declared to have surpassed arachnophobia as the most common phobia, and researchers believe that the causes for this have to do with the 'clown sightings' in recent years, along with the reboot of the It movies. The reason why people fear clowns is believed to do with the uncanny valley effect - of something appearing human, but also being unhuman. The effect also tends to kick in with mannequins, certain types of dolls, masks, and modern androids (the people-robots, not the phones). Points to his forum profile pic. Both my avies has a collection of clown makeups, noses, and various accessories for clown getups. Aren't they cute?! I even had 'coulrophilia' written in my profile for a while. Just aren't a whole lot of kinky clownettes around the grid. Sighs. Can't take your eyes off, huh? Winks playfully.
  3. Today, whilst browsing the MP, I happened upon a pair of ... Thigh-high flip flops. I almost died. I saw that - I got the feeling whoever composed it ought to be returned to the third grade, so that they may be taught how to write. I fondly remember that one time I ended up on there; some absolutely loony took a joke the wrong way and whinged about me 'genuinely wanting to kill people'. Ah, the heartwarming stupidity of the ignorant dregs of our society, unleashed to the global stage through the miracle that is the Internet. What a time to be alive!
  4. Eye twitching. I had that song on repeat on Spotify for days after I first heard it.
  5. Perhaps a communications manager ought to be considered? The same venue having two different threads started by two different people within two hours of each other seems a little excessive.
  6. There are a multitude of dance HUDs on the market, ranging from ones built for putting your own dances into, to ones that come with themed sets of dances in them. Personally I prefer using the Firestorm AO. I've got one prepared where I just have dances instead of the regular AO animations - it's free, and it doesn't add any scripts or textures on your end as a HUD does (although not much, unless it comes with a bunch of unnecessary extras, as many dance HUDs do). 7. It's all a matter of perspective. Like, in terms of time, we are closer to Cleopatra VIIth lifetime, than she was to the construction of the pyramids of Giza. By a margin of roughly half a millennia.
  8. According to our Facebook status, 'it's complicated'. I don't want not to live, but we all must die eventually and even though I don't 'believe' in anything, I'm curious about what it'll be like. As for people who are in Second Life who die, which was discussed recently elsewhere .. Well, it has happened to me. It's been several months since someone stopped coming online, both in-world, here on the forums, and on Discord. Sometimes when that happens, I suppose it may be because a person simply want out, but in her case it certainly feels as if it wasn't the case. As far as having a will, I don't. According to the laws here, all my earthly possessions will be left to my parents (minus an inheritance tax). Since I don't really will differently at this point in life, I haven't bothered - although I did quite recently consider putting something in there about my workshop tools and stuff; it's not particularly valuable in pecuniary terms, but some of the things are hard to come by and are really expensive if you want to purchase newly produced ones. I was thinking I'd might want to leave that either to my bestie, although she lives quite far away and some of the stuff weighs like an actual ton; so I might just want to give it to my teacher or his successor, to auction / distribute to other aspirants of our craft. Another thing with death and Second Life that I was reminded of recently when I tried to find a park to shoot in, are the cemeteries and memorial sites people have built. I have occasionally thought about producing some form of memorial for the people I've lost here, but I haven't been able to decide in what form or where that should be.
  9. I had no idea, actually .. I'll have to look into this. When I'm awake properly.
  10. There are plenty of tutorials on various topics within Photography, you may want to check out the Photography boards: https://community.secondlife.com/forums/forum/302-art-music-and-photography/ Explaining everything from setting up to editing in one go is quite a task.

  12. I do find it odd, but, it appears to be fairly common still. Most of the people I know, who do photography / blogging in SL, say they use various browser editors.
  13. Yeah, that would be neat. The animation category is pretty wild. On that though, I do have a peeve - animation stores that don't have any in-world location where you can demo the poses. Even when eyeballing the advert, it's hard to tell whether the pose will fit your avatar or not, as your avatar's shape has a huge impact on how an animation looks in the end - and avatar shapes, as has been much discussed in this thread, are all over the place. ... Maybe I should look into setting up an in-world location with a pose stand so people can demo that one pose pack I have on the MP.
  14. It's the polygon density. It's also why the body has a much higher draw weight than any other body.
  15. Maitreya is only neck-down. Bodies and heads are generally separate. Skin colour is also separate from which body you pick. For heads, I'd suggest either a Genus head, a Lelutka Evolution head, or the Catwa HDPro head (Majer, soft or edgy). Which one you want is mostly up to shape, all three have decent support as far as accessories and makeup goes (Majer being the newest probably has least for now, but sees a lot of new releases). For body, I'd straight up just say go for Maitreya. It's by far the most supported body, you'll never have any issues finding clothes that are made for it. It's easy to use, is versatile in how you want to shape it, and finding skins, tattoos, and such, is really easy. It also supports BOM out of the box, making everything even easier.
  16. i: Many things. There probably still are features that I still don't fully grasp, but I quickly made friends with helpful and patient people that helped me out immensely. Whilst I didn't do much building per se, I hung out a lot on my friends' sky platforms to watch them build, and try things out on my own in a corner. ii: Helpful people and my own stubbornness. The learning curve can be pretty steep in the beginning, being patient and methodical certainly makes the ride smoother. iii: Resource management. Creators who employ 1024 x 1024 textures for a single button on a pair of trousers ought to be keelhauled.
  17. Yeah, the support for men's bodies appears rather conflicted at the moment. A friend of mine who makes menswear doesn't like creating for Signature, as he feels the rigging for them is more complicated, and that he personally prefers the looks of Jake, but with how popular Gianni is he doesn't want to drop it entirely just yet. Legacy meanwhile has been very popular lately, probably in large part due to TMP's rigorous campaigning to get exclusivity deals with creators, both for their male and female bodies. But I feel like those creators got themselves a bad deal, especially now with the Petite vs Perky thing going on, I've noticed some creators immediately dropped both Legacy bodies and went Maitreya exclusive again. And Gianni, whilst the best on the market at the moment in terms of not being laggy, hasn't yet caught up fully with things. They still use onion layers and separate hands and feet - and whilst separate feet doesn't bother me much as I seldom have to wear them anyway, I really don't see why hands and body are separate things. I haven't really kept up with them lately, but I did ask the creator whether they'd make their own body hair appliers BOM compatible, and they said they would do so 'soon' - a few months ago. Still nothing. Yes .. I don't know whether there's such a thing as a script to detect avatar complexity, but a fair amount of venues already boot people who hog scripts. If similar practices for complexity would be enforced at clubs and shopping events, then perhaps people would finally reconsider some of their choices. That said, with Gianni and just some clothes on, I seldom manage to go below 50K complexity - Neph with Maitreya can easily stick under 30K even in full attire with a generous amount of piercings and accessories. Although it feels as if a lot of this has to do with the clothes too, and not just the bodies themselves. One thing I noticed is that most of my shoes for Gianni come as two separate attachments, and that they tend to have a high complexity - almost all shoes for Maitreya come as a single attachment, and seldom have much of an impact on complexity, even though they're usually a lot more intricate in design than what I wear on my male avi. According to the charts, Legacy female was by far the worst offender when it came to triangle count and VRAM usage. That was a while ago though, I don't know whether anything has happened since. Interestingly, Signature Alice was the lightest body when last I checked, but it receives extremely little support compared to the big ones - and I also had a rough time making a shape with it that appealed to me.
  18. On the marketplace, simply search 'Cat AND Tattoo', and you'll find plenty of options.
