  1. A few years ago, LL cut the Quest payout to 25 $L per week. They also cut the number of identical 12 regions Realms from six to one, and cut the number of crystals that rezzed per hour, meaning more players chasing fewer crystals. This was done to make the Realms less attractive to "cheaters", they said. But just adding the Payment Info Used requirement to cash in actually removed most of the multiple alt "cheaters" with no PIOF. Now there are no cheaters, and barely a reason to play because of the pitiful low returns for your time. It takes about 5 hours of continuous running and dodging the hazards to collect about 75 $L. Add the 25 $L Quest time, which is about 30 mins for an average player. So you can make 250 lindens, by playing for 15 hours, plus of course any breaks your body might require. All for $1 USD.! A newbie also must pay the $1.95 Buy Fee once, before he can play, to satisfy the PIU rule. So, to break even, you would need to play for 30 hours, over several weeks. After that if you have 5 hrs/week (more like 6 hrs with health breaks) you can earn 100 $L/week, or 430 $L / month. Assuming you always play every week - no time off for you. Is 40 cents/week for 5 hrs of work a good deal for the SL economy? SL needs to find a realistic way for new residents to earn lindens. Right now their answer is Just Buy Lindens with your dollars - SL has no use for residents that cannot add US dollars to the LL balance sheet.
  2. Dance Island is still there, and mostly dead. It is not owned or run by Lindens or Moles. No successful club has been run by Lindens, they are not in the music business. Dance Island flies flags from Italy and the Netherlands. It is euro based and only has DJ sets in the US morning hours. No DJ's are signed up for any sets after noon SLT, until about 8am SLT. There is always a good reason why clubs have no takers for prime time hours in the Americas. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/1szENjWmJK33-qudX6kvaKFxiUZleJdtXcOYcN2KQshE/pub?hl=en_US&hl=en_US&hl=en_US&single=true&gid=0&output=html Most DJ's are not interested in playing at a venue where the crowd does not tip. That would apply to the newbie crowd at MoTown too. LL will not stream web stations. They don't want to pay the web music streaming fees for using a legal web station.
  3. It's not clear who or why some Experiences are added automatically, and some are like PaleoQuest, that gives you the scary popup. Smaller groups often have the popup , but larger ones do not. Firestorm Experience is automatic, but BoysTown gives out the popup permission before entering. Has nothing to do with region Maturity Rating, or Group ownership, or anything consistent. The ones with the popup allow you to Forget or Block the Experience, and auto perm ones have those options greyed out. The SL Knowledgebase is of no help: But "most" do not auto prompt.
  4. I think playing Paleoquest as it exists now would be very difficult on a mobile viewer. It is a game of precise jumping, hidden hazard avoidance, and exact timing. Even with a wide screen, you need better movement tools than a touch screen. Actually the game is difficult to play with the SL Viewer, because of the lack of Quickjump, a feature in most TPV's. The same is true for Linden Realms. I have tried to play Paleoquest with the SL Viewer, on a fast gaming computer with wired mouse and keyboard. It was not fun, but possible with enough practice. Everyone I took there to try to play said "get me out of here" the first time they were stuck in quicksand and being eaten alive by flesh eating ants. The plants are just as hungry. It's a game for experienced gamers. The only incentive is the 50 L$ you can get once a week for completing the five quests. Once you get enough practice, maybe in 2-3 months of playing, you can get thru all the quests in about 30 mins. Less if you get a hints and tricks sheet, since the game provides no guidance at all to routes within a quest.
  5. You are too generous I only saved the scaredy cats from askng firestorm support if they were just hacked, assuming once they see that scary popup they will leave SL on the spot. If you think that popup is scary to newbies, try to play Paleoquest and see the mean warnings you get when the game thinks you are cheating. One threatens to ban you from the game, and possibly take action against your brand new account if you continue to cheat. But it's almost impossible to cheat in Paleoquest - but jump too high, or sit still too long, and they will send you to the back shed for a spanking and a nasty worded warning. It will take you about 5 mins to walk (running and flying not allowed) to get back to where they booted you from. Watch the Paleoquest video next to the Portal in the Welcome Center that Magellan Linden narrates. He warns about you "whiney little explorers" and how hard it is. This is not a game for sensitive newbies scared by a popup.
  6. So the order of victimhood is practicing ageism? Don't return my sculpty/prim design from 2010 and leave that PBR all white glowing mystery object on my land.
  7. So that portal did work. The first time you enter a region with an Experience, such as any Linden Game, you get this popup. I suppose they should have had a pastel pink and blue warning sign, with purple flowers and a smiling fairy, that told you - WARNING scary permissions popup is next. The umbrella kids can't handle anything these days.
  8. A breedable means having offspring. So you are not satisfied with one NPC mentor, but want to breed 20 of them. all for you? I am sure you were not thinking of doing some kind of adult sex act with an NPC - think of what the kids would look like.
  9. She's part of the Butterball Turkey Help Line - saving stupid people from eating raw turkey every day..
  10. I think SL should put an end to that Sansar nonsense, and concentrate on mesh bodies... Oh wait they did just release new mesh bodies. Hard to keep up with this new technology.
  11. Instead of local chat, you could just IM the newbie so you don't lose them. But then it would look like everyone's just standing around not saying anything. Like Fogbound.
  12. There must be 500 t-shirts on the MP with the Rolling Stones tongue logo. Yes it is a Logo Trademark, and No, I doubt that Billionaire Mick Jagger will sue you for putting it on a poster for an event in SL. None of the Roling Stones t-shirts on MP have any trademark notation. They been around since SL started. Most peeps telling DJ's in SL they are violating laws are just pulling your strings - ignore them. Of course if you are making enough money from their logo or band name, they can always try: https://www.nme.com/news/music/the-rolling-stones-128-1265367 The Rolling Stones sue German clothing company for using mouth logo. Band files lawsuit against New Yorker Fashion for using iconic image on poster.
  13. I'd increase my tipping at clubs from 100L$ to 200L$ per night. And spend lavish amounts of $Lindens at the Social Casino. Increase my wine budget too, to $10 bottles with corks... That's about it If I decided to buy LL, I would station the Linden who thought the Social Casino was a good idea in Antarctica, on a melting iceberg.
  14. Big Prim letters, one letter per prim, rezz in fastest. LL has plenty of free prims to use on their properties. I have given up waiting for some of those scripted text signs to clear up so I can see the letters. Just write your message on a sign made in photoshop, move it to a texture in SL and slap it on a prim. Until you try to cash lindens into USD, then it is income. I play myself in SL, and it feels like work.
  15. I think that's the only safe method when running multiple viewers. And for both caches and other parameter files. I need to find the options listed for those command line parameters for Firestorm. Just assigning a different cache location for PBR and Release candidate in Preferences does not work with FIrestorm. The last cache used would have some parameters but the prior cache would still contain all the texture and object data. Eg, I had a ReleaseCache folder, and a PBRCache folder, on a separate drive, specified in the Preferences/Network &FIles/Directories sections for Release and PBR Firestorm. FS ignored the different caches, and just used the prior one, after adding basic cache structures to the specified one. I had some unusual behavior with saved settings, since PBR and Release caches were still shared. I know this is different than an SL Viewer and FS viewer caches interacting, no idea how that could be.
  16. Those some comments that personally attack the mentors and/or Moles could easily be removed and the very few persons (one, two?) who are making them could be removed from posting in the SL Forum. The forums would be more pleasant to discuss everything if a few were not here. So this is something you need to discuss with your Forum moderators, in my opinion. Welcome Hub design and feature discussions are fair game to discuss. If someone objects to the Buy Lindens kiosk in the Welcome center (and most have), the solution is to remove it, or place it in a less obvious location, for example.
  17. I've been to the Welcome Hub at least 50 times, and I still get lost there. It's more like a maze that pulls you in the wrong direction. As a kittycat I should have a good sense of direction after running thru those circles just once, but this place seems to have been designed by aliens. There is a portal to the Linden Realms game now, which is one way to earn a few lindens. The catch is, you need to spend about $5 to get PIOF status to cash in, even in the Realms with a Basic account. A newbie isn't' going to send them cash to buy lindens, before they can cash in crystals for lindens. There is also a portal inside the Realms to take you back to the Welcome Hub. I find that's the easiest way to go there, and not be told I am too old a cat to be in whatever circle I landed. Newbies are also forced to enter SL for the first time with the "beta" PBR SL viewer. Depending on the default settings, all that white can be blinding in the welcome hub, and the text often is fuzzy as well. Not the best place to be introduced to SL if you don't have a gaming class computer.
  18. How did you get all those dots to show at that zoomed out distance? What viewer? The Big Map green dots go away as you zoom out on my FS viewer.
  19. My new Senra alt was sent directly to the Firestorm Welcome Island, which had more helpers and was actually scenic, unlike the sterile hospital build at the Welcome Center. We decided I was sent to FS because they checked my computer hardware and could tell I was not the first SL account. But others claim they were sent to the SL Welcome Center that also were alts, so who knows. I think they use the SL Search algorithms to sort out who ends up where. Second thought - since they can tell what my old accounts are, they would also see I used Firestorm 98% of the time, so they sent my alt to the FS Welcome Island. You mean they can program that all into the sign-up process? Those SL coders are real wizards. And BTW I did sign up at the SL new account page. I never knew there was a Firestorm gateway and had no choice where I would be dumped. And, I was forced to download the SL Viewer to make my new alt with, to get the full newbie experience.
  20. Nothing Like consistency in SL Search machines...
  21. SL Search is not smart enough to find sandboxes. You must search for sandbox, and you will find dozens of sandboxes.
  22. I occasionally use the confused emoji when the post is clearly confusing. It can also be a substitute for WTF?, HUH?, You Got To Be Kidding, and YFOS. My peeve is the use of the Thanks emoji on Confusing posts. Thanks for what, confusing everyone?
  23. It's best to not use anything from Walmart that has a natural lifetime, like fresh produce or their rubber bands.
  24. 20 hours and 6 pages of added posts after the OP last posted. Congrats OP, for creating such a feather storm among the chickens.
