Heh, I wasn't thinking of you being anti-DJ. There are others posting here that I was thinking of, but you can't mention names here without a timeout for personal attacks. I also added more to my post not related to your Premium member humor, just venting my frustration with some other comments in this topic. The DJ's and hostesses have also been told they can not post their own events now in this club, because it would upset the format, or something. I expect not everyone will bend over to this new rule.

Highly unlikely this is the case. The only club owners that would need Premium are those that purchased land on the mainland. You don't need Premium to rent land anywhere, or to rent on any private region from a land baron, or to purchase a private island region from Linden Lab. Most club owners will absorb the costs from their venue tip jars, and probably will cut down posting for every event. That means a DJ or artist will not be searchable in Events, since Search only looks for words in the Event Name. This will cause unending joy to those here that think DJ's do not hold real events, that all clubs suck, and that there are only really 6 events/day in all of Second Life. In other words the hermits who never use SL Events in the first place. One of the clubs I go to has decided to only post one Event per day, listing all of the actual events in one Event , entirely to save more than one $50L/Event per day. There will be no performer or DJ name in the Event name, meaning you can not search for a particular performer. Also this one daily event will roll off the list later in the day, making events after around 6pm SLT not visible. Few are going to set the date back, or scroll back in past time to find an upcoming event. Again, joyous news to all the club and DJ haters in this forum.

They didn't waste any time adding the fees for SL Event postings. So now, according to LL, all the "spam" will go away. And the moon is made of green cheese. From the Create a new event web page: "Create a new event At the Basic subscription level, the fee for creating an event is L$50. At the Premium level, the fee is only L$10. Learn more about Premium or upgrade now. I understand that my account will be charged L$50 for each event I create" Just another way to get that Premium upfront cash.

I think the Status page is automated with canned messages, and is not updated when there are changes late in the day. It always runs behind real-time. The techs that actually restart regions are not the same that post the Status reports. They probably quit at 5pm and hit the local bars. I am on the Main Channel. When I posted above my sim monitor was still reading 6 days, because my last restart was at 06:37 SLT on Nov 26, Tuesday. This free sim monitor is rather useful - Region Performance Monitor Version 1.04 - Search on MP. It is a free service from Dream Seeker Estates but works for any land. Calleta is really screwed up. Physics Time is way too high when the scripts run fall to 1%. Some animesh object caught in a wall or hole? I see Physics time as high at 16 ms when Dilation drops to 0.50.

In progress - Scheduled maintenance is currently in progress. We will provide updates as necessary.Dec 3, 03:00 PST A restart for regions running over 10 days is maintenance. And it's happening now. My region was restarted 6 days ago, so no restart for me.

The Realms has been closed for 14 days now. No reason has been given why, or what was broken. And the Realms worked about as well as always an hour before it was closed down. When a single region had a broken quest, you just tped back to the portal lobby and tried to enter a different Realm. It's the lack of any information about this "Repair" that is disturbing - how long would it take a Linden or Mole to type a simple update? Five minutes? Good timing too, closing it down over a US holiday week, when LL was closed and short-staffed.

I was flying around last night and saw the same thing at Todd's Landing. I could run right up to it and sometimes it appeared, and sometimes it was an unrezzed region that would block me from entering. Depended on the angle of approach too. And it was always on the Big map, since it existed if you were in the region. I finally gave up and just figured the moles would fix it when they get back.

It took the Linden's a week to post any status, and still no mention of what was broken or the ETA for reopening . I was in the Realms an hour before they closed all of them for repairs. Everything seemed normal then. Did they lose the only hard drive that stored their only copy of the Realms games, or did all the servers that ran the 72 regions simultaneously self destruct? Not a word about changes or improvements to the game, just down for repair until they are working. It's understandable the games have low priority - they earn no money for LL, and it costs them to maintain and payout lindens to the players. The amount they get back by the players spending those lindens in SL must be insignificant as well.

This is also the category where music and dance clubs with DJ's appear. If you are simply looking for a DJ music/dance venue, and you got the above list, than this is unwanted spam. The above list includes M and G rated clubs - so where are they? Overwhelmed by the trashy sex joints and escort services. One solution is for LL to create a new category only for dance and music DJ clubs that are M-rated. And create another category called Adult Sex - where only adult rated sims could list their "events". Put all the sex listings in their own category. I am sure the Johns looking for a one hour companion would appreciate that too. What to do about M-rated music and dance clubs located on an Adult region is another issue. They would not be allowed to post in the M-rated club category unless there was another way to prove they were not another adult sex club. There needs to be a way to separate the obvious pay for sex adult joints, from normal M-rated DJ and music clubs, or this adult spam problem will never be solved. And my suggestion that people intelligently learn to use the search functions seems to be way too much to expect from SL Residents.

There is no reason to believe the Parent/Child object Script Communications has anything to do with the Realms "repair". The Realms was not broken, and basically has worked exactly the same for the last 12 months. HUD detachment is a region crossing and teleport issue that has always been there. They have HUD re attachment stations all over the Realms. The anti cheating measures sounds more likely. They might be installing sensors around areas where flying and high jumping gets you to a destination quicker, so they can perma ban more users, and a new HUD to work with the sensors. Probably end up banning innocent users from false positives too. And since they enacted the PIOF requirement to cash in crystals, most regions are deserted and crystal collecting is easy, since more then half of the users have no PIOF. I always check other's PIOF status on radar within 200 meters of me - and its seems to be more like 3 in 4 users do not have PIOF now, and only run through the weekly quests.

That was Oct 2018. The majority of the "cheaters" seem to be avatars with no Payment Info On File. They can only run the 4 quests once a week for 50 $L. They only need 1 green crystal/week to complete the first quest (and an insignificant number of red, yellow and orange) . Blue and other crystals are useless for them to collect, since they can not cash them in for Lindens. I don't know how cheating helps you collect crystals. They are usually on the ground, not in the air. It would seem the 50 $L/week per non-PIOF avatar is a financial drain on LL. A weekly quest can be completed in about 20 mins without any cheating, assuming the Realms HUD stays attached long enough. A region crossing or getting killed and TPed back to a safe zone also detaches the Realms HUD about 1/2 the time. Maybe they could fix that bug too.

And here is the same Firestorm Event search listing with Adult Unchecked: Clubs that are Adult category with Moderate content do not show here - it was the club owners choice to locate on an Adult rated sim. You notice the total absence of trashy pay for sex spam with Adult unchecked?

Category selection IS a part of Searching. I use Live music category all the time, and seldom see any adult spam, when viewing G, M, and A rating listings. There is no issue with the Live Music Category. And all other categories are not overloaded with spam, EXCEPT Nightlife/Entertainment! Here is the Nightlife first page listing for today, with Adult (and G and M) categories checked. Not a single M or G rated listing from 3AM to 9AM! Please tell me these trashy sex joints will all go away if they have to pay for listing. There is a LOT of pay for sex involved at these joints, and I don't mean 50 $L/act.

The LL announcement - Basic members have to pay for every event, reoccurring or not: "We’ve heard many complaints from our Residents about duplicated event listings and spam. To combat this problem, we’re introducing a nominal fee which will help discourage spamming and encourage higher-quality events from committed event hosts. Basic members will be charged L$50 to create an event listing while Premium members will pay L$10. On the heels of this change, we will introduce the ability for Premium members to schedule recurring events." It is not clear whether reoccurring event listings will also cost L$10 for each reoccurring event for Premium - most likely they will. I still have to laugh at their reason for the increases. Spam will always be there, but it is easily removed by intelligent use of the Search functions. Duplicates for the SAME event are rare, hardly causing spam. The "complainers" are most likely people still using the SL Viewer and the web-based Events page, and those that still can't figure out Search. LL should just refer complainers to the Firestorm viewer and the internal SL Event App (which Singularity also uses btw)

It has been 7 days since the Realms went offline for "repairs". No word from LL on what, why and when. Silence. A support ticket brought this response: "Thank you for submitting your support request. We are aware of the issues regarding Linden Realms and have temporarily closed access via the portals while we repair the situation. We do not currently have an estimate on when Linden Realms will reopen but please watch the blog for updates."

Any club owner that puts an M-rated club on an Adult sim deserves to have his event postings blocked by turning off Adult listings. The Adult sex "club" spam is the major cause of spam. If that's what you are looking for, just turn Adult only on in SL Events. Simply using the available search tools already there solves the spam and " omg, it's a mess" complaints. This is just another LL business decision to encourage more basic members to upgrade to Premium. It will be listed as another Premium perk, no charge for recurring events and only 10 $L per unique listing, vs 50 $L and pay for each one. As far as solving the sex spam problem, it won't do a thing - just wait and see.

Turn off Adult and you won't see adult club spam. LL is really to blame for not building a compact inworld SL Events app in their viewer. They could always use the Firestorm Search app, but they won't, because of NIH syndrome. The web version has no search box and no way to turn off Adult, just page through 49 pages of listings for one day, 15 to a page. Nobody can use that - and it's SL's bad design, not the SL Event posters fault. You can find another web version via the browser that has the search and adult filters but still needs too much paging. I think SL Events was designed by three LL committees that never spoke to each other. It's a mess because it's hard to find, there are several versions, and has nothing that is easy to use in their SL viewer. So their solution is to charge for listings. Hardly a "needed change". The main difference will be fewer legitimate listings for G and M-rated clubs - because not every hostess will spend $99 USD to upgrade to Premium, and few club owners will reimburse the hostess or event poster the $99. Most clubs are run by owners and managers and staff that are NOT Premium. They have been in SL for over 10 years, often rent private regions and parcels, and have no use for Premium. And no one will spend 2000 $L/week to list their events at 50 $L/event, unless they are running Adult sex sites.

What is wrong with you folks? When you want to use Google Search, do you enter "the" and then complain it is full of spam because you get back 50 million hits? Searching with a keyword or words is your friend. Are you assuming SL users are unable to use any search machine? Do they complain they can never find a thing in their inventory because they never learned how to search? Don't they teach that in first grade now? Even you old timers, 15 yrs in SL, must have heard of Search. Remember Alta Vista? Well SL Events also has a Search box!! Use it to find what you want, and stop complaining! Charging won't change a thing - it is just another way to generate piddly revenue for SL. And use the categories too, I know how difficult remembering all these things must be, which is why you just list everything about everything and claim its a mess.

We have a name for you, but I won't post it here. One of my DJ friends spends 2 hrs for every 1 hr of his set, so a 2 hr set means 6 hrs of his life for his set which you, in your opinion only, thinks is not worthy of an event listing. Most of the comments here that think an event is ONLY what they think are events, are anti-club, and likely pretty anti social. That's your right, but don't try to tell the people that enjoy others company and chat and dancing together what is and is not an event to them! As far as SL Events, never use the SL Web page events listing - it is badly designed and not set up for ease of use. Firestorm Search (using the built in search) is a simple and compact design. Use the filters to find what you want. For instance, I am looking for a Blues club to go to tonight for a few hours. Enter Blues, Uncheck A, and use Nightlife. This is the result - So tell me, where is the spam? Also you might want to tell the club owners and managers in the listed clubs here your opinion of their events. I am sure they will appreciate your input

If I want to find an entertainment event, I first UNCHECK ADULT, then search Nightlife/Entertainment. If I want to find Live musicians only, not DJ's, I first UNCHECK ADULT, and then search Live Music. I do not see this spam problem if I UNCHECK ADULT, and search a specific category. Do you get my drift here? If LL wants to get rid of the spam, either remove the Adult Category, or charge $1000/listing for Adult listings. And if they all move to Moderate, remove their accounts. Actually anyone can avoid most spam by searching with the right filters. All this extra charge for G and M rated events will do is reduce the number of legitimate G and M rated events.

The Realms has been closed for over 24 hrs now - still no word. Are they changing it again?
