  1. I have not used any laughing emojis in this thread to you or anyone else. If I don't agree with someone's opinion I will either ignore the post or reply as I did. Get your targets straight. This IOS/Apple app rating is for the parents or owners of the I-phone to decide. LL will probably just use the 17+ rating. Parents can still turn off parental controls for their children, because their 15 yr old Lolita daughter is already married with two kids and a husband - too late for her. These I-phones must be advanced as hell if you can get pregnant using one. LL might restrict mobile users from Adult regions, which would still allow the Apple 17+ rating for parental control. New users would need to use a laptop or desktop system for Adult access. That's a good thing - much better graphics.
  2. I don't see any Adult sex in M rated regions. It has to be hidden from public view, which is simple to do. I doubt any region owners are going to move to a G-rated region to run a club, or open a clothing store, or sell avatar parts. Mobile could be limited to M-rated regions. That at least seems sane. You think that limiting mobile users to G-rated regions will attract that many? If I recall, interest in sex starts at a rather young age and peaks in teen age years, and slows down for some, rather slowly. SL, a social "game" where sex is not allowed for younger mobile users (and most over 21), doesn't exactly compute for me. What kind of "sex" is allowed in a G-rated region? Sounds like you are proposing bringing back the teenage grid for mobile users.
  3. That google map is dated April 2022. The lights are off in the building. Sansar was sold and should not be using that address. The handicap sign is for an entrance to another business LightStep on Green St. SL is almost entirely remote workers now. The SL flag is missing. Only flag out on the building is for LightStep. Not sure why LL keeps the lease to part of that building, considering SF business rents. I heard some of the few LL locals have a conference meetings there. I don't think LL employees actually work there anymore, unless that has changed this year. The LL Atlanta GA suburbia location for SL seems to be more used now. Cheaper too, and more real trees.
  4. Nobody works in SF anymore. Maybe the car was stolen, while parked outside of the Atlanta headquarters...
  5. When Brad O was first interviewed one of the key growth strategies was to get the youngest crowd in SL now (16 and over I guess), and let them migrate as they age into the full adult SL with of course desktop computers. I think most that stay in SL have or will have desktop setups. The smart phone is just to always be in touch so they don't miss any rumors or parties. Mobile phone video sex is rather common now, as was phone sex before the internet. Once the mobile crowd finds out what is going on in SL I think they will be assimilated. The DD regions should have record growth.
  6. Wow Man, 420 fps. Sit back, lite up a joint at 4:20 and say cool.... If you want to travel really fast, build yourself a rocket that can go to Mars. Good thing you posted this amazing advice in the Land Forum. With 420 fps you should be able to circle the flat grid in seconds!
  7. If there are ports on the smart phone for a keyboard, mouse, and desktop monitor, then there is hope for the SL Mobile. Batteries not included for the 27" monitor... New excuse for logging out of boring situations. My battery is running low.
  8. To get the items you are searching for closer to the top, you need to use keywords and filters. To skip all $0 offers, set price range to $1 to $5000, or whatever top limit you want. To skip DEMO's click the NO DEMO box. To specify a Sort option, use it. Search is not a mind reader. As far as being able to skip to any page by entering the page number, why would you want to do this? Is there some value in skipping to page 193 from page 1? I do wish LL would add the page selection to the top, instead of just the bottom of a page. But you can simply use the End key to scroll to the bottom of a web page instantly.
  9. This feature has been around for at least the last 12 years. It's often caused by TPing to a laggy region, and your hair (or whatever) was not sent to everyone else. That is a network issue, and is often regional. I can tell if my hair is missing when someone compliments me on my new bald look. Again, it is a feature, not a bug.
  10. I'm here to keep track of Rowan's post total: POSTS 18,346 JOINED May 20, 2014 DAYS WON 431 And Mine: POSTS 1,193 JOINED August 6, 2013 DAYS WON 0 I generally avoid the Topics where I might say something that would get me banned. So I don't post much anymore, just keep track of stuff.
  11. Use Show Debug settings: Set EnvironmentPersistAcrossLogin to TRUE This keeps Environment settings consistent across sessions
  12. How long before a non-PBR viewer, third party or SL, will no longer function in SL? That's the real question. I hope my smart phone doesn't need PBR for SL. As if I want to be in SL w/ a smartphone, squint...
  13. My example above using my partners's HP desk size laptop, which is only 3 years old and still sold today, says age is not the best measure. And my 11 year old desktop still performs OK in SL even with ALM on. It cuts my frame rate, but still over 30 fps in a crowded club, where materials are quite irrelevant. But it heats up my GPU just to see point lighting and dark corners. The majority of our VIPs have ALM OFF when in a club, or crowded region. My PC's last 20 years btw, but then I do build and upgrade them to last before they go to my PC museum. I've been playing with the latest Firestorm alpha PBR, same as the SL Viewer 7.00 PBR, but with a UI and features I can use. ALM is ON of course, since you can't turn it off.. Going to be a long transition to PBR. Maybe more painful then mesh for some creators with old designs.
  14. Unfortunately there is no way to increase the VRAM over 512 KB in Firestorm or the SL Viewer, and with integrated graphics I suspect the actual VRAM uses more that 512 KB depending on what's left from the 8GB system memory. Most of these integrated graphics systems are not recognized by the Firestorm preference settings, and default to 512 KB max. Her laptop performs better than it looks like it should. She can now survive a club with 35 avatars nearby for about an hour before she crashes. Her laptop also gets very hot, and she needs cooling fans blowing on it so it doesn't melt down. When she started w/ this HP laptop, her settings were too high, and she had to stay about 50 meters from the crowd and not cam to them. I found she had draw distance set to 128, water reflections to Minimal, and ALM was ON. I told her to use 64 m DD, water reflections to None (opaque) and ALM to OFF. That improved the performance, and she could get 20 fps in a busy club with 40 avatars. Turning ALM ON and she would crash. When she moved to Firestorm, I had her reduce DD to 32m, and set textures to 512 KB max, plus the prior settings. But her laptop will never survive PBR with ALM. LL must have an idea of the systems in use, at least they know your hardware configuration. I think marketing and finance has decided if they lose 25% of active residents when they force PBR and ALM, that is acceptable, since they will make it up with newer residents with gaming systems, or smartphones. They also think if you can't afford a better computer, then you are probably not buying enough lindens from them, so let the poor folks go back to watching reruns of The Price Is Right. (Never mind that many of these folks spend $100 USD/month buying lindens for their inworld hobbies.)
  15. Having more than two eyes on the forehead is illogical. Extra eyes should be on the sides and rear of the head, and perhaps on the top to see the flying saucers in time to run. Spiders are smarter than SL head designers.
  16. I should not have used "group IM" term at all in my earlier posts even though that is technically what it is. The issue was group Notices that appear also in a group chat. Some of the confusion is because IM is Instant Message, and the key here is Instant, not an archived message, like we do in this forum. Any message in a group chat is also Instant, hence a group IM. So group IM and group message are the same. Everyone i know calls a Private Message an IM,, not a PM. "IM me" does not mean talk to me in public. Firestorm can try to change this usage, but everyone still says "take it to an IM" when getting personal, and not take it to a PM. What was being asked in this topic was how to stop chatting and spam in a chat group window by blocking it. What you see depends on your viewer and it's settings in Preferences. Firestorm has more options then the SL Viewer. Look at all the boxes you can check or uncheck regarding group chat and notices in Firestorm: The last screenshot from a specific Group, Firestorm English Help in this case. The SL Viewer settings are simpler but limited, and nobody uses it anyway
  17. Group Chat "IM" is when you send a spam message to everyone in a group, by simply typing or pasting in an event posting in the group chat. It is more like instant chat, since saying Hi in group chat does the same thing. Only those that have the group chat open or set to open on a message will see that text. That message is NOT sent as a group Notice. Firestorm calls this a group instant message. It is not a group notice. Some might be calling a group Notice a group notice IM, just the wrong words. If the text of the Notice is repeated in group chat by cut and paste, then it is a group instant message of a Notice. But if you send a group notice, the text only contents of the Notice IS copied into the group chat. The distinction is a Group Notice, sent to everyone, vs a Group Chat message, which is only sent to those that are in the group and are watching. Once the group opens from a message, you can close it and that blocks the group, until you relog, when the group is unblocked. Firestorm has the options to block either one by group. The SL Viewer does not. The problem, as Prok summarized above, is there is no way to block a message sent via the group chat if you are a member of the group. So you have groups always opening as someone simply types in the group chat. The FIrestorm help group, for example, you have two check boxes for what to receive. This means there are four combinations possible. The Sl Viewer only has three. There is no option to Uncheck "Receive Group instant messages" in the SL Viewer, on an individual group basis. I have run into new hostesses who thought if they sent a message in group chat it sent out a Notice. And others figured if they sent a Notice, they didn't need to send anything in Group chat. Who receives these notices depends on what group blocking combination they have set for that group in their viewer. So you send an event notice in both the group chat and Notices to cover all the possibilities.
  18. I've always wanted to work in a match factory. Do they allow smoking on the job?
  19. Here's the kind of system I am talking about, an HP Pavillon desk laptop, purchased new about 3 years ago. The owner was told this was the perfect system for Second Life, because it was a gaming computer. Most non-tech peeps would have no idea they were being lied to by some no nothing salesman. She has no idea how to upgrade the system memory to 32GB, and integrated graphics is not upgradeble. Tell me how this will work with PBR and Firestorm: CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 4500U with Radeon Graphics (2370.54 MHz) Memory: 7542 MB Concurrency: 6 OS Version: Microsoft Windows 11 64-bit (Build 22621.2134) Graphics Card Vendor: ATI Technologies Inc. Graphics Card: AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics Graphics Card Memory: 512 MB Windows Graphics Driver Version: 30.0.14046.0 OpenGL Version: 4.6.14802 Compatibility Profile Context 21.40.46 30.0.14046.0 She already crashes in busy clubs.
  20. That's a nice mid level gaming system and should be fine even for PBR. The NVIDIA GTX 1070 is hard to find new, but plenty of cheap used ones. But for the large number of residents running a 5 yr old laptop with integrated graphics and an 8GB system and on a 2.2 Ghz CPU, they will be turning ALM off if they are in places with many avatars. I can tell who has the weaker systems by how many times they crash in an hour at our club. They will need to buy a new computer, or find a solitary hobby in their skybox, once ALM is forced and PBR is the standard.
  21. And what are your system specs? Do you operate this way in clubs with 50 avatars? This whole survey is flawed by only asking forum members. We are mostly graphics nerds with modern systems and photographers who obsess about making pretty pictures. Hardly the typical SL resident here - not even close. It's like the old survey of how many have telephones installed in their homes, by doing a telephone survey.
