  1. I've posted in this thread before but here's my new profile picture after finally completing the mission of attempting to make my avatar look like the real me, or as close as I can get with the skin, hair, HD features/attachments, and the mesh head slider limitations. Why am I doing this, you may wonder?... "Who in their right mind would try to make their avatar look like the real them? That's just weird and defeats the purpose of having a Second Life of fantasy and alternative expression, right?" Well... It's in immersion and therapeutic thing for me. Full disclosure: In the real world, I'm a hermit/hikikomori, I'm on the Autism Spectrum (Mild - Aspergers) with questionable social skills, extreme social anxiety and low self-esteem. My idea was to be able to insert 'myself' into the virtual world, and then seeing 'myself' doing things in Second Life that I struggle doing in real life such as; socializing, hanging out in groups, performing live in crowds, going "out" more, etc. will hopefully help boost my confidence and maybe, If I can see 'myself' doing all these things successfully in the virtual world, maybe some day I will have the courage to attempt to do it in the real world - and if not, it still makes my virtual experiences much more immersive, for me (more on that below). Who needs social rehab and therapy when we have Second Life? You're all my therapists... (LOL?) Social struggles aside; seeing a representation of my real self, exploring and doing things in the virtual world also makes me feel more immersed and connected to everything - as If I'm really *here* doing it. I know it's not real. This is not real life, but I've read somewhere that the subconscious mind cannot tell the difference when it comes to our experiences, be they real or virtual, and we experience the same or similar emotions in response to these experiences. So this is an interesting experiment for me. I'm Including a screenshot of my RL Instagram profile for reference. Does my avatar look like me? Mission accomplished?
  2. This is a bug that Linden Lab has been made aware of through the Jira. Current workaround, until this is fixed, is to… 1) Teleport away and then back. or 2) Clear cache every time before you log in.
  3. You could create a Landmarks (Places) Folder named “Wishlist” or “Shopping List” and Then “Landmark/Bookmark this place” saving it to the folder, renaming it to the name of the item you want from that particular location. OR, check if the item is on the marketplace and add it to your marketplace wishlist.
  4. To be fair, if you search “Second Life” on Twitter, and view the Photos tab, that’s nearly all you will see… Big b***ies everywhere, horse c***, and lots of beast and furry sex stuff. I bet that when someone who doesn’t know what SL is, hears about it, and looks it up on Twitter, they’d think it’s one of those porn games that pop up in all the ads on porn sites. I do a lot of naughty stuff on SL too but I agree that perhaps it’s not a good look for SL when 99% of what’s shared on Twitter about it is mostly virtual ***** porn and other kinds of smut. Y’all should start tweeting about SL and drown out some of those horse c*** posts so people can see more of what else is possible on here. I’m by no means a prude. I dig seeing the naughty stuff too but it’s a problem when it’s 99% of what is visible out there. From a Twitter user’s perspective, SL is not a metaverse, it’s an animated porn game. Not a good look, so… join twitter, tweet about SL, drown out all the smut. It’s up to US to show that it’s more than just THAT.
  5. I’m an influencer. I have fans… just one fan actually, I put it in the corner of my room and influence it to blow cool air over me at night. Best fan ever! Unfortunately it doesn’t follow me though. It’s a stationary fan.
  6. Hi@Alazarin Mondrian, If you're still experiencing this issue, please chime in on the bug report here: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-231665
  7. Curious if anyone else is also experiencing another bug after the restarts… Some objects appear missing but they’re just invisible and can’t be selected, but it’s possible to bump into them. Re-logging doesn’t resolve the issue, it just makes more things go invisible. More info here: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-231665 Anyone else experiencing this? I’m on the default viewer. I haven’t tested this with any TPV’s yet.
  8. Yes, I have a full pre-logout routine (mostly due to Xeolife). I make sure my avatar is well fed, clean (showered) and tucked into bed in his sleepwear (All xeolife-scripted furniture and consumables). If his energy is extremely low and needs a good amount of time to regenerate, I stay logged on with him in bed, regenerating energy, while I go to sleep in Real Life. Sometimes I forget to feed or clean him so I do that when I do the same in Real Life. I'd then wake up in Real Life, log into SL (or just raise my avatar from his sleep), sit down my avatar at the table with food while I go get breakfast in RL, put him in the shower when I take a shower in RL, etc. Maybe that’s all a bit mental but it’s fun… It's kind of like playing The Sims for me. This makes SL more interactive and immersive than just standing around without any requirements or objectives, and also makes my avatar feel more alive, like he needs to eat, sleep, bathe, and also do things that give him joy/cheer. Without this, SL feels way too static for me and It gets boring quickly when my avatar doesn't have any needs. I like Second Life to be more than just a 3D chat room and a hustle for Lindens. I want it to be more like a game, where my avatar has needs and objectives. XeoLife is awesome, adding that extra bit of interactivity to my avatar. It's kind of like caring for a pet or plant, except that it's my avatar that needs the care.
  9. Artist / DJ / Music Producer (income from royalties, donations, sponsorships, and merchandise). - Look for “David Venter” on Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, Amazon, etc. Freelance Creative (web & graphic design mostly - but haven’t had a client since before the pandemic). OnlyFans (started this during the pandemic for some extra income - don’t judge me 😋😈). Started blogging again recently and already have Google Adsense generating some income from that too.
  10. I've recently started a new electronic music project and I'm looking into advertising the group in some in-world magazines. Now I'm trying to figure out if in-world magazine readership is still even a thing, and which magazines are most popular. So, I need your help. Do you read any in-world magazines? Which one(s)? Would you recommend advertising in any? Any other recommendations for advertising a group in-world besides magazine ads? What are your thoughts on display board advertising in popular locations?
  11. The passengers from Manifest are coming to save me. Cool. I can live with that.
  12. Do you have billing information linked to your account? Maybe that’s a requirement too (someone more knowledgeable, please chime in if this is not the case).
  13. It’s still there. Here’s a direct link, if you’re struggling to find it in the navigation… https://community.secondlife.com/forums/forum/118-adult-content-forum/
  14. You can wear system layer socks, if you have a BOM-compatible body. Those will be skin-tight.
  15. I don’t have a meme to share but I have a really funny joke… ”me” … that’s it. That’s the joke. 🙃 You’re welcome. I’ll see myself out now.
  16. Report the M1 related issues at jira.secondlife.com You can go through the welcome island guide again. Search for “Welcome Back Island” in SL and go there, it’s the same as Welcome Island.
  17. This does appear to slightly improve the situation. It still happens, but less frequently and with fewer objects. It’s still not perfect but I guess this will have to do, for now…. And my avatar’s skin still looks great. Thanks @Lyssa Greymoon 😃👍 Still wish I could increase the viewer’s texture memory. @Rider LindenPlease remove that 512 hard limit so that it can be increased through the debug settings.
  18. Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll give that a try, but I remember some years ago I had issues with the skin texture on my old Catwa head making the nose and nostrils look pixelated when that setting was enabled so I turned it off. I’ve since upgraded to Lelutka evoX and haven’t enabled that setting again, but I’ll give it a try again, hoping it won’t pixelate the skin. I’ll follow up here again if that setting fixes or at least improves the issue of textures constantly going in and out of focus.
  19. Due to Firestorm being extremely buggy and laggy on macOS as of late (I'm guessing it's due to all the latest server-side changes, or something like that, and Firestorm is not on par with Linden Lab's latest performance improvements - But I'm eagerly awaiting an update, as I love Firestorm's features), I've been using the Default Viewer a lot lately - It has epic performance in comparison to TPV's (Nearly double the FPS, and zero lock-ups or crashes. on Firestorm, by comparison, I have to completely disable ALM for barely tolerable performance.) but unfortunately, despite the great over-all performance of the default viewer, it falls short when it comes to texture rendering (probably due to its hard-coded 512mb texture memory limit). I'm attempting to take pictures for various projects including snapshots for my new Second Life related Blog but It's a real struggle on the default viewer with textures going blurry at random. I would be focussed in on the perfect shot and then suddenly, one of the objects in the scene would go blurry right as I'm about to take a snapshot. On rare occasions, I manage to catch everything in full resolution for a second. It's mostly a waiting game, sitting around for 10-15 minutes for every snapshot, waiting and hoping for all objects in the scene to render at full resolution at the same time, and hopefully hitting the screenshot button at the right moment, before something goes blurry again. Sometimes it happens, other times it feels like it's never going to happen. Is this a macOS-only issue? Or is this a general Default Second Life Viewer issue? Or is this a me/my system issue? I've tried to increase the texture memory of the viewer through the debug settings to the same value that I use when running Firestorm (1024), and I do not experience this problem on Firestorm, but due to FS's recent performance issues, I'm sticking to the Default Viewer until there's (hopefully) a Firestorm update that fixes the performance and stability issues. Regardless of what value I enter in the default viewer's texture memory debug setting, it always defaults back to a maximum of 512. Now I'm wondering, is there a way to force it to a higher value? Or is there another debug setting that I'm unaware of, that I could change, to stop textures from constantly going in-and-out of focus? There must be a way around this. Please help! Here are my system (potato?) specs for reference: (iMac 4K, Late-2017 - I'm still saving up for a new M1X MacBook Pro)
  20. The notes section is awesome. When I meet someone new I always note where, when, and how I’ve met them and in what context (roleplay, business, music, general conversation, etc.). But I’ve only started doing that around 2017. Wish I did that right from the get-go when I first started in SL because there are still some friends on my list that I have no idea who they are or how/where we’ve met. Oops. Pro tip: Use the notes section to jot down where & when you’ve met someone and in what context. Makes SLife a lot easier.
  21. It's possible to fully, and properly decorate a Linden Home within the allotted LI. I have a kitchen, lounge, bedroom, bathroom, outside entertainment area, decorated garden, property border walls, a driveway, and a car. I'm also using some add-ons for my patio and I've even built some custom walls in the interior to separate the bathroom from the bedroom. My best advise is to find quality low LI furniture, of which plenty are available - it just takes some shopping around, and some careful planning. I have many 1-2 LI furniture items in my home and they look great. A couch doesn't need to be 20 LI. A decorative snack on the kitchen table doesn't need to be 10 LI. Just look for low-LI yet still high quality items. There are plenty available. Plan how much LI you're willing to use per room and shop around for low LI furnishings to fit into your LI plan/budget. You're welcome to check out my home here: https://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Twilling/147/135/32 That said, a higher LI limit would be great. There's a lot more that I would like to do with my home. I can't see why we can't have double LI. C'mon Linden Lab! *makes grabby hands*
  22. Our mother who art in Second Life, Madelaine be thy name, thy comments come, thy edits done, on forums as it is in documents. Praise be! Blessed be the fruit. May the lord open. Blessed Day 🙏🏻
  23. For the love of <insert random deity>. Please ****ing STOP listing events in the official Second Life events feed that aren’t actual events. Your spammy work/employment/hiring/looking-for/store/product/land-listing/scripting-service/whatever bull**** is not an event. How to guarantee that I will NEVER use/buy/visit/hire whatever you’re trying to push: Listing it as an event when it’s not in fact an event. - That’s what classifieds are for. Events aren’t classifieds for you to use to spam your ****. STOP IT! Event listings are for actual EVENTS. Thanks. Please only put an event on the events calendar when it is an actual event! FFS! Related: Dear Linden Lab, please hire an event listing moderator. Please for the love of <insert random deity>.
