  1. TLDR: An extra $13 USD/month if you don't have a Linden Home, or an extra $22 USD/month if you have a Linden Home. Detailed Breakdown of steps, fees, and some important things to note: Log in to the Second Life Account Dashboard on secondlife.com and go to > Land Manager > Land Use Fees. There you will see all the fees: scroll down to the section that says 'Update Tier.' Direct link: https://secondlife.com/my/account/landfees.php?lang=en-US For 3000sqm you would need the 4096sqm Tier level, as there is none specifically for 3000sqm, so it will cost you an extra $22 USD/month on top of your Premium Membership and then you'll also have an additional 1096sqm to use on top of your 3000sqm parcel, so you can either purchase a larger parcel, or another, different/smaller parcel along with your 3000sqm parcel. - Note that this is if you are using your "free" 1024sqm for a Linden Home. If you aren't using a Linden Home, then that free 1024sqm can be used towards a Mainland parcel, in which case you only need to update to the 2048sqm Tier Level at an extra $13 USD/month on top of your Premium Membership fee. Then you'll have a total of 3072sqm available for use - enough to cover the 3000sqm parcel you're interested in purchasing. Also note that this is only applicable to Mainland parcels. You do not need to update your Tier level when buying/renting land from a Private Estate/Region Landlord/Owner. On Private Estates, you pay the Estate Owner in L$'s and you do not even need a Premium Membership. You're also able to rent parcels on the Mainland without updating your Tier level and without even needing a Premium Account. You'll simply pay the Landlord in L$'s instead of paying Linden Lab/Second Life in USD. When purchasing Mainland; You would need to upgrade your Tier level before attempting to purchase a parcel of Mainland that fits in the Tier level, otherwise you will not be able to purchase the parcel. it won't automatically adjust your Tier level for you. You have to manually upgrade your Tier level so that it's sufficient to cover the Mainland parcel that you are attempting to purchase. Also, an IMPORTANT THING TO NOTE: Your selected Tier level is billed to you whether or not you actually own/use land. So, if you don't end up actually buying the parcel/land, or if you sell or abandon the parcel/land in the future, you'll still pay for that Tier level, even without owning any land, unless you remember to log back on to the Account Dashboard and downgrade your Tier level back to $0 in the Land Use Fees section.
  2. People seem to abide by the rules just fine when it comes to Linden Homes, and also shops on Private Regions with strict covenants. How would this be any different or need more policing than that? This wouldn't be the messy mainland. The mainland doesn't have a structure, a theme, nor a covenant, that's why it's so messy - No rules to abide by other than SL's basic TOS. But with Linden Shops there should be a Covenant with rules in place as with Linden Homes. People seem to stick by the rules. Why would they suddenly not when it comes to commercial spaces? What's the difference really? I guess you're thinking it'll become like the messy mainland? Big difference. The mainland doesn't have a covenant. Give people more credit. People are fully capable of abiding by covenant regulations. Linden Homes prove that. Are Linden homes a messy nightmare for LL? Do people create eyesores and place things out of theme everywhere? No. This would be no different than that other than the ability to sell things, display the land in search, and create classifieds from it.
  3. Shoutout to Vision Motors for inviting me to test drive their vehicles and specially rezzing them for me on the mainland to test multiple sim-crossings. No cam type/view issues on their vehicles when crossing regions! So that’s another 'brand' I’d recommend to anyone also having the annoying Cam Type issue. Thank you Victoria Vortex! Also, they’re having a HUNT where you can get a free Ski-doo for completing the hunt: https://my.secondlife.com/davidventer/snapshots/61ae080ec7418e031fa806a1
  4. I found a vehicle creator/brand that doesn't have this issue: HaruMotors - No cam view issues/resets during region crossings! And wow, what a pleasant driving experience not having to deal with that at each region crossing. Vehicle scripts by haru.kappler. Yay! But, these are no mod, and don't appear to be GTFO compatible 😢 so my issue remains, and my search continues.
  5. Here’s a special request for vehicle creators; make wearable versions of your vehicles that don’t have the buggy scripts in them. Just something with a sit pose like most bicycles and some of MadPea’s vehicles that can be worn instead of rezzed. Then provide a wearable solo ride version and the rez-able passenger version in the box. That would be awesome. I’m guessing most vehicle owners just buy vehicles for show, or they stick to driving around a single region? Or they somehow don’t suffer from this annoyance I’m experiencing? Imagine crossing 50+ regions and having to stop after every region crossing to fix the camera view… it’s not fun. There must be a solution to this, or some GTFO-compatible vehicle out there that doesn’t do this. Help!
  6. The problem is, most vehicles change the camera view, regardless of viewer preset. So even when I set my own preset in the Viewer camera controls, it still changes to whatever the vehicle Camera View is set at, and breaks at every region crossing. I can't just zoom or scroll out from that either, and the Viewer camera control presets don't change when in the vehicle. It's stuck to what the vehicle is scripted as. Only way to get out of that mode is to CTRL+Option Cam out, touch vehicle, and change it's Cam Type. As soon as the vehicle starts moving, it goes back to whatever the camera is set as in the vehicle menu. Is there a way to prevent this? So that it uses my own presets, and not forces/auto-uses the vehicles cam settings?
  7. Hi guys, I love driving around in SL and I've recently started getting into transport related games such as GTFO, BelliBins, BBB Passport travels, etc. It's great, except for one very annoying issue that's been driving me mad; road vehicle camera mode bugs during region crossings. In most road vehicles using the driving scripts created by karyn.vaher, the following happens: I drive in 'FollowCam' mode, via the vehicle menu > Options > Camera > Cam Type. This is my preferred way of driving, and also appears to be the default, until I cross into a different region. Then the camera jumps to what appears similar to the "SportCam' mode, where I am unable to see the vehicle, and the only way to get it back to the FollowCam mode is to ctrl+option cam away, so that I can see my vehicle again, touch it to open its menu, and then go to Options > Camera, and click the "Cam Type" button twice, then it finally goes back to the usual 'FollowCam' mode. This happens every time, at every region crossing, in every vehicle that uses the same creator's scripts, which seem to be most road vehicles. Most seem to be using the same scripts from the same creator, and they all do this for me when crossing regions. Is there any way to prevent this from happening? I'd like my vehicles to stay in 'FollowCam' mode, and not switch to what appears to be "SportCam" on every region crossing - Even though the menu still shows that I'm in FollowCam Mode, I have to push the Cam Type button twice to get the cam view back to where it's supposed to be. How can I prevent this from happening? I would also like to know if anyone else is experiencing this issue, or if anyone can recommend a vehicle creator that does not use karyn.vaher's scripts (preferable a GTFO-compatible vehicle creator). This cam issue is driving me insane and I would really like to know if there's a way to fix it, or if there are alternative vehicles that I can use that don't make use of these Cam-Type scripts that seem to break on every region crossing. Please help!
  8. Some are listed here: https://lastditch.typepad.com/bbbgazette/the-bbb-online-travel-guide.html
  9. If there are any that actually sell stuff for profit, they’re “illegal” because the covenant does not allow commercial activity. Even donation/tip jars are apparently frowned upon.
  10. Y’all getting mad over something the Lindens already decided NOT to do. It was considered for the Victorian style homes but they didn’t do it, did they? Calm down lol. I wouldn’t want to live above a store either but having stores nearby and in theme would be awesome and would feel way more realistic, like a real neighborhood.
  11. Thank you! I meant it’s private in the sense that I walk around nude at my house and “play” there with my friends, iykwim lol. But no, no ban lines, and I am using the Linden Home Security System but it’s set to group access and if you step on the welcome mat (it says “welcome”, not get off my lawn… haha,) it’ll invite you to the group. So, strangers are able to check it out but it’s still my private property where you may encounter some things you may not necessarily want to see. For that reason, I don’t consider it a public space. 😛🙈
  12. I do already have a nice little chill area in my back yard with my DJ decks out, some space for dancing, and plenty of relaxation-type furniture, and all my home contents including all furniture, food, and drink items have been scripted to be Xeolife RP Hud compatible, so I already have the kind of hangout area and vibe that I want, right at my Linden Home... That said, this is still my private home where I like to do private things. It's not a public chill spot, and I still think it would be awesome to have dedicated public spaces for places like this in a 'commercial' setting within the same theme, on the same continent, even in the same region or neighborhood, where I am able to get in my car, drive there, or walk there, and where I'm able to sell things, show the land in search, and create events and classifieds from the land. It would also be cool to have other shops nearby that sell things related to the region theme like; Linden home add-ons or clothing related to the region theme (summer clothing stores near the beach, for example), or art, or other hangout spots and cafe's created by other residents, in a dedicated space where I know it's okay to enter, rather then seeing something cool at a Linden Home and not being sure if that particular home owner would even want random strangers on their property. And signing up for such spaces through a system that works the same as claiming a Linden Home would be really awesome and super convenient.
  13. Exactly what I wanted to hear! This isn't something I expect to happen right away with the current focus being on Homes, hence the 'Future' mention in the OP title but this is great news, I'm glad it's being considered. Great things in store for the future of Second Life. Thank you!
  14. Yes, this could be one of the rules of Linden Shops. To sell things related to the Linden Homes region they are in. Or to allow for other non-eyesore things like little RP Cafes or Art Galleries, etc. (Personally; I would love to have a little Cafe/bar type place where I can do some live DJ'ing while serving up Xeolife RP drinks and food, which isn't exactly related to Linden Homes decor but can still be made to look tasteful and in-theme with the surrounding area - and it would be really cool to have Linden Home Addon/decor stores as 'store neighbors'). There are so many ways that this can be done to make it look pretty and 'in-theme' and provide realistic little commercial zones in-between residential neighborhoods. The Lindens could even set it so that the shops aren't automatically assigned when claiming them, like with Linden Homes, but instead, maybe part of the setup/application process would be to include a link to a marketplace store of the things you do plan to put in your Linden Store, and/or a tick-list of activities you plan to do on the parcel (like run a cafe with live music, or art gallery for example) so that the lindens can review/approve what you do/sell before allocating/activating your Linden Shop parcel - Or something like that.
  15. There would be rules of what is allowed and what isn’t. The LI and space would be limited as with Linden Homes. For bigger stores and a different set of rules, people would still rent land from land barons if they need more space and/or less restrictions. This doesn’t shoot anyone in the foot. It would be but another option to have for getting started in commerce or for quality established brands to apply for themed spaces to sell their goods in the region. There are so many possible ways to structure and run this that it can be made not to negatively impact existing land lords nor create eyesores in beautiful home regions.
  16. It doesn’t have to be a mall, that was but an idea of a structure build. It can be individual shops with premade shop/office building options like we have premade home options on our linden home parcels.
  17. Yes, and what makes that any different from how Linden Homes are run? They too have a covenant in place with rules and restrictions and residents need to stay “in theme” when decorating their homes. The same should apply to Linden Shops. Linden homes seems to work well and people are mostly abiding by the rules. Why wouldn’t this work for commercial spaces? What’s the difference really? Other than being able to sell things, run public events, and being able to display the land in search and run classifieds from it? The covenant could include a list of categories that aren’t allowed and when it comes to the placement of things, rather than a mailbox there could be a scripted store sign that you can load your store/cafe/bar/gallery/rp-restaurant /decor-shop/boutique etc. logo onto and you’re only allowed to place things inside the store; structure the parcel in such a way that it’s only possible to rez inside the building where parcel lines end by the shop’s front door and the only thing you can place outside is your logo on the scripted store sign. That’ll prevent any potential “eyesore” situations if shop owners ever happen to break covenant and category rules. It wouldn’t even need much policing, as with Linden Homes; if someone sees something that shouldn’t be there, it can be reported, just like with Linden Homes.
  18. More like, Firestorm Devs vs David. Thanks for your openness in considering user feedback…. /s And apparently I’m the one being toxic. Okay then. Anyway, I’ve made my point, and I’ve shared my fix for others who dislike Firestorm’s nauseatingly hideous UI in the OP so I’ll leave you Windows-95-like UI lovers, bright green on medium gray text lovers, and lovers of messy UI windows to carry on degrading me for helping others who share my view. Thanks for all the hate, bet you feel really good about yourselves. Well done team.
  19. You must be referring to Firestorm. Or you haven’t used the Default Second Life viewer in a very long time. Go look at All those screenshots and markups of the Firestorm Viewer in the Firestorm Jira link shared above, Firestorm is the one with all the large empty areas in every window. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Or I don’t know; log in on the default viewer, edit your shape or open chat… Then log into Firestorm and do the same. Now tell me which one has “Large empty areas” in those windows. Tip: It’s the latter, unless you’re using a different version of Firestorm than the one you release to the public.
  20. I like what the Catznip team has done; Their viewer looks Default (in terms of colors, top menu bar and button opacity), so it actually matches other Second Life properties like the marketplace, web profiles, the official website, etc. it feels like Second Life. They’ve just added their features to it. Why can’t Firestorm provide users with the same as an option? And before anyone says “Just use the default viewer or just use Catznip” - Firestorm has THE BEST features and the whole point of this original post is to show users and potential users who don’t like Firestorm’s Orange/bright-green text/etc. that it can be made to look like the default viewer (sort of) while still enjoying all of its great features (Thank you Firestorm Team). Starlight TEAL is the compromise, but having the Default skin as an option with the official colors, top bar and button opacity would make it perfect and on Par with what everything else related to Second Life looks like (the web properties etc.), removing the need for Starlight Teal Maintenance.
  21. Nope, Starlight is not ideal with its transparencies, thin widow titles, and sharp window borders. I’m only suggesting it for its color scheme being on par with official Second Life properties (web profiles, marketplace, the official login screen etc,) making it feel sort of close to the default UI. It would be better to drop Starlight Teal, and instead just include the Default Viewer skin as an option rather than trying to maintain Starlight. Less work for all.
  22. No, Firestorm doesn’t use CHUI at all, not even in V6 Mode. V6 Mode along with Starlight Teal will mostly just give you better, more modern looking inventory icons (Not the old Windows 95 type folders, etc), Colors on par with other Second Life properties, and some placement changes to chat and things that make it feel (sort of) more like the Default viewer, for those who prefer the UI of the default viewer.
  23. Exactly. It was meant as a how-to guide for people who don’t like the Firestorm UI, but also ended up attracting feedback from those who do like it. My OP would’ve been better served as a post with comments disabled entirely. If you like the Firestorm UI, that’s cool, use it. This OP is not aimed at you. Ignore the OP. Move on and enjoy Firestorm. If you don’t like the Firestorm UI and stick to the default viewer because of it, guess what, you can make Firestorm look quite similar to the default viewer (sort of) by following my steps in the OP., then you too can enjoy the awesome extra features graciously gifted to us by the Firestorm dev team. You don’t have to use Default just because Firestorm is ugly. You can make it less ugly. See my OP for a how-to. Lindens, please lock this thread!
