  1. Use the Brave browser. You get a share of the ad revenue from ads displayed to you. I think Microsoft is also doing that with Edge now but they offer gift cards instead of crypto or cash payouts.
  2. Open macOS System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Microphone Scroll down the list of Apps in that window until you find the viewer(s) you're using and then un-tick and re-tick the checkbox(es) next to them. Restart the Viewer(s). Voice should now work once again. If the viewer(s) aren't in the list and if they do not request mic access after a clean re-install, submit a bug report to respective viewer(s) Jira/Bug Report system(s).
  3. RLV is not supported by Linden Lab. It’s only available in some Third-Party viewers. So, if you’re going that route, your friends/guests would have to be using a Third Party Viewer, with RLVa enabled and they have to be wearing a relay that auto-accepts/allows RLV interactions. I would not recommend going that route but I don’t think that there is a functional alternative.
  4. Alchemy is currently working on M1 support (universal). It's not available yet but I'm sure it's coming soon. Meantime, Alchemy Project AgileAkita (not the beta from their website, but the one downloadable from their #project-viewers discord channel: https://discord.com/channels/267234902812917760/696063536362684416 ) provides the best over-all performance and stability for Second Life on macOS in comparison to any other viewer. If you want SL to be awesome on macOS, use Alchemy.
  5. I haven't used Catznip much, so I'm not an expert on the subject, but I think the inventory management features may only apply to the way the viewer handles and organizes newly received/opened items. Maybe @Coffee Pancakecan better explain how it works.
  6. Use a different viewer... if you want RLV, built-in AO, Radar, Look-at, 360-degree snapshots, etc. I recommend Alchemy Project Agile Akita. It's not available on their website (The beta download on their website is old and broken), to get Agile Akita you'll have to join their discord here: https://discord.gg/XEseWzCg and check the #project-viewers channel for the download link. If you don't care about the extra features, try the official SL viewer or the Performance Project Viewer. If you want a classic look, try Cool VL. If you want a viewer with epic inventory management features, try Catznip. If you want awesome photo tools, try Black Dragon (Windows Only) All of the above-mentioned viewers have less issues as they've been updated more recently than Firestorm. If you're a diehard Firestorm fan/user; don't despair, it's not the end of the world, they are working on an update. You can switch back to FS once they've released an update. In the meantime, any other more recently updated viewer will give you a more pleasant in-world experience including better performance (Alchemy, Catznip and the Performance Project Viewer have the best performance out of the bunch). ETA: Queue laugh-reacts and snarky feedback from the Firestorm cult due to me recommending a different viewer as a temporary solution. So sorry that I’m trying to help people enjoy their in-world experience rather than blaming them or their setup/hardware/internet for the issues they’re experiencing, even though the majority of the recently reported issues are related to Firestorm only. Just trying to help, but fine, mock and hate me for it. Sorry I’m not part of the cult. ✌️
  7. No, I’m talking about Welcome island. It’s not accessible to existing users. A replica of it is available for view named “Welcome Back Island” but existing users can’t access “Welcome Island” and new users never drop in at “Welcome Back Island.”
  8. Mobile clients, that’s why - Something that’s in the 2022 roadmap for Linden Lab. Mobile is king. Second Life will only experience massive user growth once it’s officially available on Android, iOS, and iPadOS. Also, greater interactivity and purpose/objectives - Something that’s already possible on SL (RP games, mini-games, quests, etc.) but just needs more exposure or a greater focus towards it. The destination guide is doing an okay job at that. I’ve found plenty of fun game-type things to do through the destination guide, and the new Welcome Island points new users at the Destination guide after they’ve learnt how to move, dress, and interact with the world around them, so new users looking for more interactivity can easily find it. But that said; What’s on offer is probably not on par with the ease of interactivity in other virtual worlds so maybe that needs some more focus. But there has been progress in that regard too, Experiences being the most significant so far. I’m sure there are more things in the works.
  9. Sorry, I replied without reading the thread. Didn’t see it was already solved and I was wrong. My bad. Glad you got it sorted.
  10. Do you by any change have texture compression enabled? “Compress Textures” or whatever it’s called. If you do, turn that off, clear cache and re-log. That’s the only thing I can think of that may cause this. If it’s not that, then I don’t know.
  11. Just reading through the forums today, and after muting a particular group of extremely toxic individuals since yesterday (about 22 in total, so far), I must admit that everyone else seems quite friendly and helpful. I highly recommend doing the same. To do so, hover over the person's name or profile picture on the left of their post/comments and click 'ignore' in the popup. Then in the following page, select all the options of things of theirs that you want to ignore, and then click on the update preferences button.
  12. Check out Peak Lounge, everyone there looks, well… peak! And it’s usually packed 50-80 people at a time whenever I go there. All real people, no traffic bots. All looking highly realistic with all the latest HD things, evoX etc. Enjoy. ✌️💛
  13. Why is he looking at me?! HOW DARE HE?! What does he want?! He should take a picture, it lasts longer! Stop Perving! /s
  14. Thank you. I have, yes. Been using Alchemy Project AgileAkita, Firestorm, and tried the Catznip macOS Beta. None of those have this issue. Yay! Lately, Alchemy has been my favorite due to its epic performance and beautiful UI. Still, it would be nice if the Official viewer didn’t suffer from this. Users should not be forced to use a TPV in order to see all objects in a scene fully loaded at the same time. Here’s hoping that Linden Lab fixes this.
  15. I use Bootcamp occasionally for playing GTA Online only. Everything else I do on macOS. All my music production and live mix DJ software all run on macOS only. (Logic Pro, etc.) and I use many other macOS-only (Pixelmator Pro, etc.) and Apple Software. Running SL on my Windows partition would mean I lose access to all that, and all my other data while playing SL. Seeing as I DJ on SL, and use Pixelmator for snapshot editing, that’s not an option. If SL ran on Windows only, I wouldn’t be on SL. I’d say that this is a pretty compelling reason for needing a macOS SL viewer. You’ll never convince me to use Windows and Windows-compatible software for all that instead. What I’m using now for my professional work is far superior than any Windows-compatible counterpart. MacOS just takes the cake when it comes to professional creativity and content creation, not to mention the privacy, security, and stability aspects. That said, lets please not turn this into an OS-wars thread. Each to their own. ✌️
  16. Okay, Makes sense yeah, that and the RP aspects mentioned before. In such cases, Linden Lab should then make this an easily toggle-able feature on the official viewer too then, including names on the crosshairs for those who have legitimate reasons for using it. And the ability to hide own ‘look-at’ from others for those who don’t want to use it for such things, and who don’t want to get pulled into other’s RP or paranoia (without having to modify XML files to do so).
  17. So I can I go to public venues in peace without girls in front of me DM’ing me all upset, thinking I’m “perving” on them. FYI, I’m homo. I perv at dudes, not girls. 😂 😂👏 Maybe I’ll do the same. 😛
  18. For clarification; I assume that this still happens in all viewers BUT, I don’t really notice it on the TPV’s that allow a higher texture memory setting. Things don’t go blurry while I’m looking at them now. When I turn away, and then turn back towards them, there will be a brief moment of them reloading, but everything in my direct view remains clear once loaded, whereas on the official Second Life Viewer, things in view never remain clear. Linden Lab should, and will hopefully remove or raise that 512mb hard limit from the official Second Life Viewer. My Jira entry has been linked to another similar report that was accepted by the lab so I hope that they I will fix it. In the current state, it seems like users are basically forced or rather; have no choice but to to use TPV’s in order to take quality snapshots where everything in view is fully loaded and clear at the same time.
  19. Thanks for the explanation. I am unable to use Black Dragon as it’s not available on macOS, but I have noticed that I don’t experience this issue in Alchemy, Firestorm, or any other TPV in which the texture memory limit can be raised above 512mb. On Firestorm I had it set to 1024mb, and on Alchemy I now have it set to 2048mb and everything is super crisp, no blurry textures anywhere and no texture thrashing on any of the TPV’s. I’ve submitted a Jira asking Linden Lab to remove or raise the 512mb maximum texture memory limit from the official viewer. Being able to raise that solves the problem. Here’s hoping they’ll do that at some point, until then, quality photography/snapshots using the official Second Life viewer seems impossible.
  20. If you’re into cars and like driving around, Search for and join the “Drivers of SL” group. They frequently host car meets and grid drives and many of the top quality car creators post notices in that group when they have new releases out, some even share free cars. I recently got a mesh batmobile as a gift from one of the creators. It looks quite awesome. The group chat is generally active and most members will be able to answer all of your Second Life car-related questions.
