  1. In my mind it is the creator's responsibility to let their customers know what permissions come with a product. It is the buyer's responsibility to check on what is important to them -- be it permissions or LODs or triangle count. Hence DEMOS that can be inspected are high on my personal list of "needs". I realized thinking about this thread that the inability to know things about what EXACTLY you are buying (vendors and displays showing items that are not really sold with the purchase for example) is the reason that I have ALWAYS hated vendor systems. I know they are handy for putting whole stores on sale and for redelivery and store credit, but when you buy a copy of an item on display you can see exactly what you will be getting. That is pretty much true with buying the CONTENTS from an old fashion prim vendor box. You can see the permissions and which parts are included -- and hopefully the item is on display somewhere. That is how I have always had items out in my shop -- in the simplest form of vendor or "buy copy" that is possible. This after fourteen years. I don't pan to change. Now and then I purchase items that I can't see, but it is rare and they are most often very inexpensive (like $25 lindens). And in part those purchases are sometimes made so that I can report on the item to others.
  2. I have Hive cold brew also and love it. It was however a "b***h to fit to my hand (and I made jewelry for many years :D). You can also rez it as a prop.
  3. In the past, this has happened because of add blocking software and the way code the page is written in. I suggest trying a browser with no ad blocking built in or added. I use Edge for this purpose :D.
  4. Asian Pacific is small but there are three very nice H and G items there some food also. Also some Zaara earrings that I am pretty sure I have already but worth getting if you do not. Watch out for the "poofer" Ctrl + Alt + T turns on transparent so you can delete it LOL.
  5. Just a few thoughts. Unless that is going to be a REALLY BIG horseshoe your holes should be textures and not made into the model. The SL uploader doesn't like little pieces in a model made up of bigger pieces. Did you apply location, rotation and scale before exporting? Did you use the Linden viewer to upload? It isn't the boolean modifier in general. I hardly even use it but DID just a couple of days ago and the model uploaded fine. In general and assuming you are new to mesh in Second Life --- just because you can MAKE something doesn't mean it should (or can) be uploaded to Second Life - LOL. Sad but true. PS. If your standard size horseshoe uploads at anything other than one land impact something is wrong with the modeling -- so far as Second Life is concerned. It likely would be too much geometry (too many triangles). Good luck. Hopefully someone else has other ideas.
  6. Joined means that the mesh would be all one piece rather than trying to upload a mesh made up of several pieces (like a table and four legs all separate but uploaded at the same time. It is called JOIN in Blender but not necessarily in other programs :D. Over the years there have been others trying to do what you are doing (for a long while it was illegal to upload other people's mesh so some of us weren't all that helpful LOL) but to my knowledge no one found a good way. The SL uploader is picky and has rules so it is always best to make a model with that simplicity and those rules in mind. There are some models that apparently won't upload no matter what people try to do :D. Good luck!!!! Aquila is queen so her "voice" should most likely be heard the loudest most of the time. She helped me oh so often when things "weren't working" --- which of course ME, not Blender LOL.
  7. Nutmeg at ATHEM (under one of the "gift" areas at the landing point). Good kitchen LODs. Medium heavy mesh. $25
  8. Group gift for May from [InsurreKtion]. Hoping that pasted link works :D. Very pretty, well made but 5 land impact. Tried to fix the link. If it still doesn't work. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Tikka/247/32/1902
  9. Thought you might be interested to know that the original build of this was at FF 2016. Found my video from WAY back then. I hadn't watched this in years.
  10. Well it will be interesting to see what the new premium level actually encompasses. Right now no one can actually decide if they are opting in. There were plenty of folks that wanted to change their names but didn't because of the cost. :D. I rent a half a region for 24000 lindens a month. I have a small plot in Babbage also. I have plenty of groups left even though I am not premium. I don't upload much any longer, still use local textures to test and make plenty of profits to cover any spending. Lindens are not an issue at all, so it is pretty obvious that I am not part of the target audience. BUT I suspect that there IS a target audience just like there were folks that were happy to pay the fee to get a new name. Everyone will need to decide for themselves. We can only see how close we came to guessing the final deal -- and then decide if it IS a "deal".
  11. Not arguing but look at it this way. Let's say that the price for Plus is around $20US a month with taxes on a yearly subscription. Let's say that they double the stipend to 600lindens per week. Roughly that is $9 -10 US which means you are sort of paying $11ish per month Then subtract that $7 a month. So around $4 extra for more groups and a discount on uploads. That would be worthwhile for some folks. Note also that the $7 land fee you quoted doesn't include taxes or conversion fees so it is actually more than $7. AGAIN we don't know particulars and AGAIN this isn't of interest to me, but it would be workable for some people. My comment on mainland wasn't from the USERS perspective but from a look at all the empty mainland that might be taken out of "maintenance" if this is a plan. We saw how getting a 1024 instead of a 612 helped mainland for quite awhile. It can use another shot in the arm IMO.
  12. I was chatting with someone yesterday about this and he said he would go for it at 130 instead of 100 yearly (plus tax). My best guess really depends how much gets added into the Premium Plus benefits. IF there is the ability to have a 2048 mainland with no tier and IF they do double the stipend (which of course AGAIN is only giving you back YOUR money (head shaking)) then I am guessing in the $225 - $250 range yearly -- that's basically 20 per month if paid yearly. Look at how the name change came out. LL isn't going to do all of this work without making a profit. It will be good and acceptable for some folks and not so much for others -- just like the name change. The 2048 is a good move to help the oh so empty mainland; it has been years since that got a boost. The stipend is a wash income wise although it gives LL more working capital -- in essence users are loaning them money and getting that money back in payments). Some thing like more groups have little to no additional costs as far as I can see. I guess the deciding pivotal cost would be the upload costs changes. I have no idea how that would impact overall. Obviously that would help creators more than anyone else. Again, hard to guess when we don't know what is going to actually be included. I am not a candidate for this option but I certainly am interested to see how it plays out and very happy that it has actually come to fruition finally (fingers crossed).
  13. Select your total area and then use FLATTEN. Once flattened you can raise or lower. Folks that rent seem to do this often. It really doesn't look all that great. And to the OP you really can only do so much along the property lines. Hence best to have a larger parcel than the house that is going on it :D. It looks the best if you "smooth" the area between your plot and the neighbors but if you adjoin abandoned land that is "bumpy" it is really difficult to get things to look good. Been there. Good luck.

  15. A new Home and Garden survey just popped up at Seraphim. It gives you a chance to let designers know what is important to you. You can also win some gift cards if you are super lucky :D. It is a lengthy survey and takes some time but I think a lot of folks that watch this thread would be interested in adding their input. https://www.seraphimsl.com/2022/05/06/seraphim-home-garden-survey-with-8-chances-to-win-l5000/
  16. I have lived in both Mexico and Barbados as well as a few states in the US and many visits to Canada to visit surrogate parents. I think it is important to realize that every country has good and bad points as well as good and bad people. Attitude and choices make a big difference in finding your "perfect place" :D. Also LOL before getting to fixed on moving plans be sure and check to see if a country will take you. Many do not want Americans.
  17. :D. There is no reason that your model should be 27 land impact at one meter (oh my). Yes, you know that. What you may not know is that trying to convert models made for other purposes rather than game assets often (OFTEN) doesn't work -- and realistically shouldn't be uploaded (my opinion anyway). Other than making the model in a SIMPLISTIC form and using textures to fill in the details, you might try the decimate tool in Blender or whatever that is called in your modeling software of choice. I doubt that will help much though. You can also remove edge loops but again a lot of tiny geometry there. Models in most cases (small things especially) should be JOINED before upload. You can only have 8 materials per model or model piece (to be joined later). There are various smart ways to work around this. Use a simple cube for many small items -- for the physics part of the upload choice. Edit: Also look at the lowest LOD setting and make the smaller. There is likely no need you will need to see this from far far away. If you cannot make that number smaller then the uploader is not happy with the model :D. Good luck. Let us know if you accomplish your task. You could also put an add in the wanted section to get someone familiar with SL modeling best practices to make it over for you (most likely from scratch).
  18. One month old - 14 plus years ago Yesterday
  19. It was in part LLs decision to make the code available that made copybotting available. I was here then long ago and to say there was and UPROAR is putting it very mildly. While Opensim looks a lot like SL it is a different platform and has rules that are different in many cases. AND I can access Opensim with a simple click on Firestorm login. ^^ so it doesn't get much easier than that. Chic on the Kitely Sandobx testing physics.
  20. Gabriel has a 99 linden sale on. modern, roleplay, Asian are all covered. The sim is lovely. You can check my blog for about eight posts on fantasy faire items. No longer posting here since I got my hand slapped. Posts are tagged "Fantasy Faire 2022" The Gabriel things I featured will work for both guys and gals and also "off brand" bodies --- or at least a wide variety. Some items are all in one so 99 total. Some are in parts and you can buy as you like. There are also at least three gifts out.
  21. I use double sided mesh now and then with no issues. So I suspect you are doing something incorrectly? Try using the solidify modifier rather than the method you chose. Without more info and screenshots it is difficult to say what the problem might be. It is probably important to note WHAT is causing the high land impact. Is it the PHYSICS. There are three things that determine the final land impact in SL.
  22. Before you go too far with your project I suggest that you find out if this is LEGAL with Tilia. It sounds very "gray" to me and not necessarily supported. In order for Lindens to become USD they need to go through Tilia and peple have to agree to the Tilia TOS in order to sell. So that means if I read the rules correctly that each person giving linden dollars would also need to agree to the Tilia TOS. Many have of course but not everyone :D.
  23. For ME, this seems a good plan looking towards the future. The timing however is not the best. Not LL's fault although many of us (at least the RL folks I hang around with foresaw the recession and the inflation more than two years ago. And here it is. AND we are going into summer and I suspect -- noting the indexes that "I" watch it will be a particularly slow one. In the last month my blog readership has halved over some top numbers throughout the previous six to nine months. Earnings seem to be down a bit although since I don't cash out any longer that isn't important to me personally -- still indicative perhaps. Moreover the folks clambering at the gates of newly opened events has dropped noticeable and now I can get into "top" popular events the first day rather than waiting a week (the norm a year to two ago). The current DRAW IMO would be the ambience of "togetherness" for folks that like crowds LOL. That isn't me since I almost always have "show friends only" on LOL. Overall the move is a thumbs up for me. Better to be to early than too late and hopefully in a year or so the world economy will begin to stabilize and there will be more of a need. The other use for this would of course be large meetings for educators for example OR even very popular role play areas. People could be in more compact areas and clustered rather than needed more sims just to get enough citizens into the storyline. So far as "instancing", there have always been a few events that took advantage of "mirror sims" where creators only had to set up once but visitors could go to either place --- at least that is what I perceived as happening. This also happened in Sansar BUT the issue with that is that if it was a performance region, the people performing were only in one of the regions :D. So if you didn't get in the main area then it was pretty much like watching the event with others on TV LOL. Still at the present time getting 200 people in one place would likely solve most entrance needs.
  24. Ten Year Anniversary at Cosmo -- a few things in a quick shot. Also some nice cyprus trees and a ceiling mount light fixture.
  25. When you purchased you mesh avatar (body and head or combo) you bought the RIGHT to USE it in Second Life and only that right. I suspect you can export illegally since there was at least one badly imported (no feet or hands so really who cares) version of Lara floating around a couple of years back. In general (and only in general) if you see something in Opensim that looks as good as Second Life then it is fairly likely it is stolen. The exception would be items made by creators that have shops both in SL and Opensim. There are very few. Chic waves hands. PS. There WERE a few Opensim creators that only created for Opensim. Most seem gone now but there items can still be found as free or on Kitely market.
