I assume it is going to be much like security orbs in Bellisseria, you rarely run into any that break the rules.  People will get reported, some mole will step in have a word with the resident or just send them a scripted reply to review the rules, those who are reported will tell others, and so on.  The vast majority of people will just accomodate the new rules.  

The amount of fear people are pushing right now, is all for nothing.  I do suppose we could hook everyone that is in a panic to a machine, and make use of their elevated blood pressure, we might be able to power a few servers and bring down the cost of land in SL,  but It is very unlikely that we are going to see thousands of people banned for any number of new rules, more than likely they will just a polite and I do mean polite notification, introducing them to the rules, and they will go on with their second life.

For almost everyone, this is a nothing burger.

Because of the earlier time maybe they could not get their normal videographer, but given a months notice it is strange there is only a private Youtube video with captions disabled. They also used a private audio streaming service, normally rented by DJ's and landowners. in SL.  They also ran the stream at 192 kbps, which was not needed for a voice conference.  CD music quality is 128 kbps, and normally used for club stereo music.

That was a really, real talk and open talk about how they see it and how it's going to be.   I liked the be smart about it yourself.. be responsible kind of message that Oberwolf came back to again and again.  I liked them basically saying this is how Second Life lasts and continues. It's how it has to be.

There was a lot of info expanded on in this talk ... the modesty layer thing is still not completely clear other than nope... alpha cuts can't be used.  Looks like BDSM community like Daddy/babygirl are still fine as long as everyone is adult presenting.. just as it was before.

It is thought to be nothing but until there are people validating warnings whether in local, IM or e-mail, it is assumption. Both sides of the controversy can't prove anything except for the rumours we hear of people being banned without recourse.

This accurately summarizes my takeaway from today's meeting: that all our fears were unfounded, and that LL is on our side.

Anyway, I guess some people do need black and white.  So would sex with a 15 year old be bad judgment or 14?  When does.it become evil?  13? 12?

For voice they could have gotten along with 64kbps and it would have been fine.  Doesn't the viewers top out at 160 or something.  I was on Firestorm and couldn't keep a stable connection, but I switched Fubar2k and the stream was solid.

No, slplugin.exe is just an mp3 receiver in FS, and it runs at whatever rate the stream is being sent.  So someone with a low speed connection would have more problems with 192.  Not everyone in the world has fiber or high speed cable.  But of course they assume if you could survive the 200 peeps there, you are not on a copper phone line.

I think we have been conditioned by a steady stream of bad news, from legacy media, to social media that everyone assumes the worse case scenario.  Society in general has become addicted to what I consider more or less fear porn, doom scrolling, finding problems wherever they can.  Western civilization needs a gigantic valium pill..  oor... 

All they need to do is put on some Reggae 'mon

All I said was sex with a 6 year old is NOT the same as sex with a 16 year old. I'll let you draw that line 😂

Personally, the line is 18 for me.

I do feel there will be some changes coming for the more adult side... and I'm not saying it's a bad thing at all. Basically get it in the right places. So maybe that will be the next roll out?

At least there are Closed Captions now, there weren't (for me anyway) when I first opened the recorded stream. I thought I could transcribe it on my Pixel but all I can find is another layer of automatically generated real-time captions. (I'm sure notta could do it but I'm not paying for that.)

Personally, the line is 18 for me.

LL has drawn the line.  Your avatar must appear at least 18.  Subjective, as we've seen but if the one and only factor in an AR is that you MIGHT look under 18, people will be fine.  Now, if they dig into your IMs and see you telling that giant you're with that you love being his tween sex toy, you're going have problems.  

Keep your IMs or local clean...as in not even a hint of AP and what's there to be worried about?  Wear your damn pigtails and your schoolgirl outfit.  This ain't that hard people.

I wore this yesterday.  In an adult region.  The dress actually alphas out all hint of breasts so I was flat chested.  Am I concerned?  Nope.  Did I get tossed out of the club?  Nope.  Was I talking in local or IM in a way that LL.could construe as AP?  Hell no.

So... Apple, whose removal of the Tumblr app from it's store caused the great NSFW purge of 2018, is a major reason for some of the recent changes. No big surprises there. To be honest, the decision to disallow the mobile client to access adult land feels like the more restrained response.
