It's often the pictures in the profiles that seem strange to me.  Especially ones in the 1st life section that are supposedly their RL photo.  Mmhm, ok.  Guess they don't know image search is a thing?

I DO know someone who had an actual RL pic on their profile under 1st life. It's not always fake.

From a profile near you, soon...

"Dog in RL, Voice verified as a Dog"

Lmao I should add something like that to it.

I mean he IS derpy and I'm sure he'd be willing to get on mic for me if I asked nicely and gave him some pb.

Then again someone might hear that whole dog eating pb thing and, well, it is sl, it would fit right in, wouldn't it?

Peeve: Advice is often to "ignore someone who bothers you, and they'll get bored and leave you alone." But if you truly ignore them, how do you know?! Lol!

I prefer to just skip over things than truly "ignore" anyone. The next thing they say may be not just what you need to hear, but something you learn from that helps you grow - hopefully grow beyond the need to react to them.

All of my alts have a picture of me in the RL image spot. I have a picture of my first av there. I enjoy reading profiles.  When I was a host I'd read them if I was bored on a slow night.  Now I read them when I visit, since I'm not in world that often, and it gives me a glimpse of changes that have happened to people since I saw them last.

Peeve: people who never change their profiles

I saw one profile that had :

"No the RL pic isn't me, but it looked odd just being empty so, I put some eye candy in there. Enjoy!"

Either of those is preferable to a obvious glamor type photo.  I'm sure you've all seen them.  Why bother?  The cat on my 1st life tab does kinda look like me depending on my mood.

I think my 1st Life profile pic is my RL back tattoo. Poor LoveX (my only Alt) needs a profile probably.

So Pet Peeve: People, some of you, maybe think about toning down your profile a bit so it doesn't look like we might be entering a soap opera by messaging you.

This so much. SL seems full of people doing their absolute best to ensure nobody even tries to speak to them with these often aggressive lists of terms and conditions.

Then again it is also very clear that the social side of SL isn't to everyone's taste, maybe these profiles reflect this.

I'm peeved about my energy supplier, who so far have been good but have gone back on a promise they made to me three months ago.  They promised a fixed rate for a year if I agreed to a slightly higher rate per month than might be expected.  I agreed, but now they've decided to increase the direct debit payment willy-nilly.  I called them and got them to agree to put it back down.  I'm very unhappy that they went back on their promise, and that I can't get out of the contract without paying £150.

I know, first-world problems, but it's the principle of the thing.  I hate this kind of attitude.

Problem is, there's a LOT of people in SL who assume that SL is "a social platform" first and foremost to the exclusion of all else, and who also assume that being "a social platform" means they can DEMAND you socialise with THEM.

And actual example of this is a well known forum individual who berated me, because I openly admitted I didn't want to converse with people whose hateful views & lifestyle I find repellent, while listening to music II dislike, because "this is supposed to be a SOCIAL platform".

If somebody's profile makes it clear they do not want to talk to people like your self, don't talk to them.

How hard is that?

I know...I have to wonder 'wth happened to you?' when I see some profiles.  Sometimes my therapist cap flies onto my head and I want to try and help them..lol

The other month I messaged a friend I connect with infrequently though we are quite close, and I happened to notice a change in her profile that indicated she had been horribly hurt (she was ranting at the world over some group of people she'd had a bad experience with), and so this gave me an opening to talk with her about it.

Peeve: Having to add a "New Resident" Bot Defender to ignore!

(Lest I soil my near-perfect record of being nice to others. lol)

Peeve: Being peeved with other residents lets us experience how it must feel to be perpetually peeved with everything and everyone, but it doesn't feel good at all.

IKR? Всі знають, що SL - це просто гра!

then why does everyone remark - Oh, just don't hurt anyone! there is a soul! Broken hearts! love! So, did YOU play?? Played with feeling?? Yay-yay-yay... By the way, I sometimes post my RL photos - I don't see anything like that. That's probably why I, finally, ONLY catch fish))) Smile. Sometimes, reading questionnaires, questions arise - and I ask them. They either answer me and we virtually shake hands with each other - or we argue - because it is not my job to look for profiles of people who do not want to communicate - but rather just bots or alts)) Hands are busy with another avatar - reply to alts))) (said which now she is silent in the local chat - because she does not see anything on the monitor, which is 2 meters away from her) In short - ignore, blacklist - then I let them go. - they don't write anymore. so is it a social platform, a game or a place where your dreams come true? (game - which you close and go to RL)

Always nice to see those with a genuine interest in certain topics: be it to discuss, raise awareness or even just to get different views.

What is not nice is when people interject or present their responses in such an obvious manner so as to be disruptive (at best) and then pretend that is not why they responded whatsoever.

That is far too common for some here. Adding to this that the way this place is run, one cannot call such people out nor confront them in the manner they deserve to be confronted in.

There's a reason I have made a certain statement regarding keeping this place around at all ...

Same, just noticed it's not a box on my phone. A little unusual, as most emojis seem cross-platform lately.

Viola Mole was showing us the new emoji viewer emojis and some of those showed as boxes for me and a few others at the welcome hub.
