I don't understand why people think the Lindens shouldn't promote well-made goods in their world. It's in the Lab's best interest to have people buy Linden Dollars and spend them. It's also in the Lab's best interest that people who don't want fishstick fingers and flipper feet find ways to look like the people in the flickr pics and the advertisements so they stick around.

I'm thinking, that guy probably does his own picking and choosing of what he is going to use for a tutorial video next..

Lindens just probably nabbed him up for tutorials and handles that area himself, rather than lindens saying, ok do Belleza next.. hehehe

That's smart delegation, then.

Now we need them to get someone to do tutorials on, how to be a great clothing designer for mesh bodies that haven't made it to the top 10 yet..

Lesson one, Making a good quality bikini..

hehehehehe

I'm still waiting for a good bikini to show up for this body..lol

I was looking at the list of 300 mesh bodies to see how many wearers are wearing the older bodies..

Freya has just over 7300 wearers

Isis has just over 1300

Venus is around 575

That's more combined than Reborn has built up over the past year..

Hi there,

i've been creating clothes in SL since 2007, but have been out of the loop with SL for the past couple of years... Now I'm thinking to come back and create more but i see that new mesh bodies have been popping out like mushrooms after the rain, so now i'm kinda lost... Back in the day i was rigging for Maitreya, Slink and Belleza Freya. Now i'm kinda shocked to see that Slink has pretty much disappeared completely?? 😨 and instead there are a bunch of new names i never heard of.

My possibilities are very limited and i can rig for only about 3 bodies at max. My question is, what are the most popular bodies out there? Is there some kind of list of all mesh bodies somewhere with their active users numbers that i could take a look at? Or any suggestions for top 3 mesh bodies? Personally i absolutely hate exorbitant boobs and butts and i wouldn't rig for those even if they were really the uttermost popular ones, but ideally would be 2 natural sized mesh bodies and one bigger one (like Freya). Is Freya still worth rigging for, or is it better to switch to this new Gen X Curvy? 🤔

Welcome back! This question probably should have been a separate topic because people are going to promote Gen X bodies here even though they are very much new.

Most stores who rig only for 3 mesh bodies choose Maitreya, Legacy and Reborn. A lot of Freya users switched to Reborn or Kupra (this one has exorbitant boobs and butt no matter what shape), and now with the release of Gen X it's pretty much dead, unfortunately. Both Reborn and Gen X users would appreciate more fantasy style clothes, so it boils down to your personal choice, but bear in mind that Reborn has a much larger audience than Gen X (at least for now).

Your best bet is to look at the data. Lucia Nightfire posts regular data of the most popular bodies on the grid. Right now, I think it’s: Maitreya, Legacy and Kupra. However, Ebody reborn is quickly moving up on the third spot.

A couple of things to consider: 1) The days of the big three are over and things are very much in flux. Creators are more willing to create for different bodies and some are even dropping Maitreya. Which is something that was unthinkable two years ago. So I would say choose the three you want to create for.

2) This forum isn’t the best place to ask, because it’s track record for predicting which body is going to be popular isn’t that great. A couple years ago, Kupra came out and this board slammed it. It’s now a popular body. Last year, Ebody Reborn came out, also got slammed and still does and it’s quickly gaining ground. All kind of mods are coming out for it. It’s kind of crazy how much support it’s getting. Belleza came out with two new bodies, three weeks ago. Three weeks ago….waaay too early to predict how successful it’s going to be. A lot of “wishin and hopin “ here.

Your best bet is to use the data. You’re still safe with Maitreya and Legacy, but that third spot is going to come down to choice. The grid could look very different in a year. I think, from what you’re describing, Belleza classic might be right for you for a third. There is another body that came out the same time as Belleza that may be worth it in the end. I just can’t remember the name of it because, I need coffee.

Welcome back and good luck!

Welcome back and good luck!

You're thinking of Prima, the slink replacement.. going by their flicker, they aren't getting much made for it, it's like a lot of images posted on there, but also wearing a lot of the same things over and over..

The last few times I looked at the list of the top 300 bodies they weren't even on it anymore..

They had made the list at one point when they first came out, but got bumped off and haven't seen them on there ever since.. The number of wearers on the 300th body in the list is 28..So some of the people that were wearing Prima have put it on the shelf, because it had enough to make the list after it first came out, which was like  two weeks before it's official release..

I would say test out the different bodies to see how many bites you get.. Like others said, we just do a lot of predicting here really like in Vegas.. hehehe

You can make things for the most popular bodies and do ok I'm sure, but you are also going to get buried in a sea of other peoples things being sold that is getting made for those bodies..

Or you can make things for the not as popular, but still very active market bodies, where people are chomping at the bit for things, where the market is not so saturated with creators..

Also, are you just going to be making female clothes only, or are you going to make mens clothes also?  Because out of the top 10 bodies, 4 of them are male.. So there is possibilities there also..

The top 3 bodies being worn at the moment are Maitreya-Lara (Female), Signature-Gianna(Male) and Belleza-Jake(Male).

hey Generation extreme sports now you can have a midlife crisis in Second life as well! here is a note card with landmarks to every motorcycle and sports car shop  on the grid.

I don't do surveys as those can be gamed.

I use bots and scripted objects that travel the grid and report what people are actually wearing.

Reborn is currently the best trending body, though.

Despite currently having 2% of the market, it is 2nd only to Maitreya in terms of uptake in the last 180 days.

In regards to Genus, it doesn't look for names. It looks for mesh creation times, an immutable prim param.

I specifically grouped Genus like that years ago, but can't remember the reasoning at the time.

I can look into separating it, but that will take some time for data correction to go through all user records and change things including all archived stats lists.

It won't be "soon", sadly.

#131 : Belleza - Gen.X (Classic) : 125 : <0.1%

Edit: I think @Lucia Nightfire had a lm somewhere on the forum or in the profile, so I hope I'm allowed to share the info 😅

I am still surprised to see Kupra holding such a spot. I haven't seen a single person wearing it at a shopping event at least in weeks. Maybe they're all club denizens.

Same deal with Freya. I think it's mostly just people who don't really update/change after they've got a body and head. Well, some who actually like it too, I suppose.

But there's still tons of people wearing Catwa Catya too, around 15.8k on that list if I remember right. Regular/popular places barely have any of them, however. But some adult-kinky places that always were very outdated compared to the rest of the grid (on average, you can still find avatars with all recent events releases there too, just less of them), so there's a great amounts of those catyas still even these days.

They have been losing people to Reborn.. Reborn just jumped I think 2 spots in this month . They might have been in 10th at the end of last month though.. But they are at 9th now, where Kupra just dropped a spot and went from 5th to 6th this month..

You might mean something else by "replacement", but Prima is put out by the Tonic people.  Slink's "replacement", as in the next body put out by Slink, was Cinnamon & Chai (which, I believe, didn't catch on at all - and that's two different bodies that can't wear the same clothing (if I recall correctly)).
