Yep and most people I'm friends with are just like me.  The only thing not RL about me in SL is my avatar being just a tad younger ( HA @ tad) , my incredible wardrobe and the ability to dance for hours in high heels.

Lol, and RUN in high heels. Hurts my hip just watching my avatars do it.

Meanwhile, in real life... 😂

Here, Sandor. This is an oldie but a goodie! It's from an old web series, "The Guild," which was a parody of World of Warcraft. Pretty good evidence that sex and relationships have long been happening on other MMOs.

That's a fun video!! I wasn't questioning if that happens. You put people together, they are going to get into sex.  Not everyone, but many for sure!!!

My husband's cousin actually met her husband playing Everquest sometime way back then.  She moved to Belgium, married, has 2 children and is living happily ever after.

@Bagnu, I just find it odd that for some things you say it should be the same as RL.  Like sex needing to be a part of SL.   Yet for others, it's ok to be nothing like RL which is why I'm a bit confused.    But I guess we all see it differently.  I also recall you thinking the forum people were somehow different than people inworld.  That it was ALL one giant RP.  I'm the exact same person RL and SL, inworld and the forums.

I'm saying that SL should offer the same options as RL. Not everyone has to partake in all aspects.  I DID think it was all a giant RP. I was a female Escort. I was the same person here at the time as I was inworld.  Pearl SexToy. My RP character. That worked inworld, but not here. I found it unsustainable, because I developed friendships, and I preferred to tell everyone that I am not that character. And became myself.

High heels are sooooo overrated in RL.

I mean, sure. They look great, make your legs look sexier, and add height.

But other than that, what use are they?

Depends on heel height and width. Stilettos can make some pretty good holes in... erm... flesh. So, weapons? 😇

Lol, what more do they have to do?

Well, it would be nice if you could stand in them for more than a half hour before they started HURTING

True. I do know some ladies who don't have that issue for a lot longer though.

So lets have some goals then?
Make an avi for a certain genre, get 10 "formal approvals" from the certain genre crew?
Some type of formal LL recognition thingy associated with your avi, or LL scoreboard.
I seem to remember forum discussions about social rewards before vomit-book came along.
(or when it was just a wee hurl - minus the carrot bitz)
Those were along the lines of social recognition by LL as in community type stuff.
Linden Realms seemed to go ok? Collecting gems or something?
LL sponsored challenges that get you a mesh head/body or something?
Even the forums had this sort of stuff last iteration.
Bring back LL gifts associated with achievements.

I agree with you on one point here. I don't agree that LL should try to turn SL into some massive video game.

I do think they should incentivize new players to learn basic SL survival tools by giving them rewards for doing things that require them to learn how to talk, open a package, fly, save a LM and TP to it, etc., just a few lindens and some LMs to places they might find fun and interesting. I also think LL should sponsor a G-rated dance club that newbies can go to. One of the things new people most often complain about is that almost all the clubs won't let them in.

I never ran into that when I first started.  But if that's the case, I agree. Whether a person wants to be a part of the "Adult" scene or not, it would be a good meeting ground.

It's not true, certainly, that all clubs restrict residents who are under a certain age. But many of the most popular ones, and a great many other sims as well, do -- presumably because of a paranoia about griefers.

It's one of the not-very-helpful corollaries of the "My Land, My Rules" approach to land ownership that LL chose to take. Although it would be easy enough, I suspect, to disable the bit of code that allows property owners to do this.

I wonder how much of an uproar there would be if they did?

The problem is not the lack of G rated clubs, the problem is that a lot of club owners of any rating, will eject avatars younger than 30 days, and in some places Ive seen ejecting younger than 90 days, so a new player friendly club, that people can go directly from the starter island would be nice.

I don't prevent anyone from coming to the Island based on AV age.

I mean nowadays the attention span of people is shorter. Especially when you see the way YouTube is going. To get new users, you may have to appease to the short attention span.

You did a wonderful job of painting everyone with such a broad brush. I'm no prude or pervert but I'm not in SL for sex and don't even own any "bits". I've never had sex on any platform. For some of us there is no substitute for the real thing.

You (by your own words) do not even fall under that so-called "broad brush" you accuse me of painting "everyone" with.  Sorry if I triggered you somehow, but please read posts more closely before bashing others, thanks,
