My pics for the Saturday Sale comes from WRONG (an old time brand :D).   The beautifully texture piece is 7 LI with reasonable tri count and FS says it holds it textures to 22 meters. This may be my go to modern bed for Low Impact stylings.  You can see it upstairs in the store.

There is also a weight bench set that is really outstanding and will replace my old one (OH SO OLD). Good LODs and reasonable tri count (for me anyway :D).

That is probably one of my favorite beds.  I purchased it a while ago, in a really light color so that I could tint it if retexturing didn't work out.  Promptly swapped it as my bed in two homes.

I am sure this set can be used without the pier. I can buy it and test. Bee Designs is not super low Li, but it can be acceptable. Triangles and such, I have no idea.

Every time I go to Evhah, I leave without shopping because of the Li, but I don't give up. They have good-looking items.

The Happy Weekend sale has become my addiction. I will buy most of these things. But not all. In addition to this I will buy jewelry, makeup, poses, a backdrop and perhaps some shoes. My inventory is growing every weekend.

The mesh in some of the Happy Weekend stuff posted is extremely heavy.  Edit the items, click the 'edit linked parts' box and go through the pieces looking at the triangle and LOD information.  Also, right click the item and Inspect it.  The final LI is not the whole story.

I don't worry about all this triangle business too much as long as my home is not stuffed with such things. I think having one or two is just fine. I have only observed issues when someone links a ton of stuff together into a monster object, or if their home is packed with things from Dust Bunny or Nutmeg (for example). Otherwise, it's all good, and I love me some Happy Weekend sales and am not going to pooh pooh the idea of shopping them!

I know it is bad of me to say that I don't care so much about triangles and heaviness... Each should inspect it and find out on their own.

As long as I can see it fine, and I don't lag myself out, I am happy. I should say that I am using my out- of Bellisseria place much more, and it is nice and low lag no matter what I toss in.

It is no other furniture threads, and it says all- in- one, so... Inspect and make your pick.

Many folks in these forums have mentioned wanting to be more conscious of heavy mesh to help reduce the lag in Bellisseria and elsewhere. They have asked many times about how to determine what is good and bad and in-between.  Thus reminding folks that some of these sale items are extremely heavy and reminding them of how to check is exactly what some of the folks are asking for.

If folks are going to post pictures are lots of sale items, I don't think it is a problem to balance that out by reminding folks to check out the mesh carefully.  I didn't mention any specific horrid pieces from the large post above.

I'm not pooh poohing the idea of shopping the sales.  I'm pooh poohing the idea of shopping without any regard for the mesh if you are one of those that care.  Different folks care about different things and want different info.

I looked at a LOT of sale furniture this weekend and there was certainly more to check out than in the past. I ended up buying the WRONG bed and weight set as well as a backdrop (with plants you can use independently) and one very primmy item with very marginal LODs.   Now WHY did I buy that?  For use as a pose prop.   It has lovely close up textures and works very well within the new backdrop.

324504466_poseprop.thumb.jpg.c46b16ae0c7b0cab3bdb9cf17298d124.jpg

Now I wouldn't put this out in my yard but won't it make a lovely romantic picture sometime in the future?   I can pull it out when needed  and then put it away. There are lots of uses.

When I see a nice looking but simple chair that is five land impact it is almost certain that the mesh isn't "game asset", but I usually inspect the object anyway. If a creator didn't join the mesh before uploading (no idea why not but sometimes that is true) then the mesh can be very heavy just because of the many pieces. But mostly it is the triangle count.

I have to say that I have been using  heavier mesh over on Lilly Ave where I am "trying" to use up 1000 li :D in small house.  LODs are still the most important thing for me.  That won't change. I cringe when I see things break up "too soon".  BUT I have still been paying attention and only using items that I think give lots of "bang" for their triangle count, not things that could be so easily made for a third of those triangles with exactly the same look.   I don't care how good the monetary deal is.

I will say that the framerates are still very good over on Lilly Ave despite the heavier mesh I am using. I am guessing this is because all the landscaping comes WITH the houses (the house you choose rezzes with all the outdoor landscaping) so that it looks VERY lush everywhere but also reuses the same textures over and over.

I will  also say however that the framerates in my city where the store is are WAAAAAAAY better than on Lilly.   Most things there are very low poly and lower textures. So there is a correspondence.   Everyone needs to make their own decisions.   But it would also be good that people understand the trade-offs.  People with less powerful computers and slower connections who tend to crash at events are the ones that are hurt the most by heavy mesh.

I am guessing that ARCTAN is completely dead now (the new li cost system that was announced three or more years ago). It is SO not a "shiny" that new owners would be looking for and would definitely cause an outcry in the populous.  So we have what we have most likely.

Thanks for posting the Facebook info! I don't do SL Facebook so only go by what Access posts on Flickr, and several of these items were not on their Flickr the last time I looked. Makes me wonder what I've missed on prior weekends!

I'm definitely going to check out the Black Sand set, because I like other sofas I've purchased there.

I found out that Seraphim links to the Facebook sale album of Access now. So that's where I found it. I used to get a notecard from the group inworld, but it is so many things. And opening the images from the notecard took a lot of time. I used to concentrate on stores I already knew, and I am sure I missed a lot.

I hope I will use most of it... Not just furniture. I have a lot of new jewelry, and started to buy backdrops. I don't think I had a single backdrop before.

Not a reminder, just education...

We know much of the mesh on the market today is heavy and laggy.  As a group, we complain about Belli lag all the time.

We know builds don't have to be laggy. Designers could learn to make more efficient mesh. And we have a great resource in Builder's Brewery, who specialize in teaching how to optimize SL builds -  for free.

But I've read that successful designers are often unwilling to learn other methods because they are afraid they might lose their customer base. And who can blame them?

It doesn't have to be this way. And perhaps we can influence them with what we do and don't purchase.

I think that is part of it. Some of my favorite designers of old went "to the dark side" LOL.  It is easy to see if you look at their older items and then at their newer ones.  Pretty sells.  Many to most buyers don't care or understand (or both) and that is their choice. They are however often the ones complaining about lag.  Go figure :D.

The other problem that we have now is that some creators are buying off the web (all legal now so far as the SL TOS is concerned).  And really there is nothing wrong with that. They make their own lovely textures and have a cohesive line of products.  But because they didn't make the mesh (or know well  enough how to make complex items) they don't pay attention to the tri - vertices count which could be lowered fairly easily and they would have both a good selling product and items that were not so laggy.

The other issue for creators is that many to most are not making the money here that they used to. And then when you count the BUYING of mesh into the cost they are netting even less. So there isn't a lot of enthusiasm to make great things.  The creators I talk to can see that too and most are feeling it.  So there isn't that much "great new stuff" to purchase.  This has been a trend for some time now;  I hear it so often from friends, but sure there are some folks that won't agree and that is fine.   This is just MY anecdotal evidence.

But  not making money leads to less enthusiasm leads to "throw away" event products (I mean how many picture frame sets do we really need?) leads to less sales leads to making less money ....

I chose to get out of the loop and am just creating for myself now -- and funnily doing some of the best work I have ever done (go figure). But I WANT to support the folks that are still working hard and trying and possibly need the money for groceries. I too just have a hard time finding much to buy these days.

So I foresee the weekend sales being the new thing even among the more well-known brands. That's good for me as a shopper, but it has an underlying issue.  After awhile I think folks will expect things to be oh so cheap and have a hard time paying "regular" prices.   That has already happened over time and I suspect it will continue. Eventually it will get to a point where creators will just stop creating. We have seen a lot of that over the last year and a half too.

A puzzle with no real obvious answer -- or at least not to me. Hopefully our new owners will have some beneficial thoughts on marketing and such. Fingers crossed.

There is definitely always much more for sale that what is posted on the Flickr page.  I learned that a while back.

Thanks for pointing this out.  I tend to ignore backdrops in the sales list because I seldom ever use them, already have tons and I forget that some come with useful items.   I do often buy things just to rip them apart and use the pieces elsewhere, especially landscaping stuff.  So, while I had initially passed this over, I went back and grabbed it just for the pieces.

Well, if you are tempted to buy the new Danika Kitchen from Spargel & Shine Homes featured at Cosmopolitan this round, be forewarned...it's huge (it's 43 LI but I'm also referring to the dimensions). I'm doubtful that it will fit in any Linden Home. I just tried it out in the Lauderdale and can't fit it on either side.In addition, my body is set to higher than 6 feet, and you can see that the kitchen makes me look like a child. And that was after I had lowered the upper cabinets on the left half.image.thumb.png.e69eb91d93fffb9c72b337a10940ef33.png
