I had the chilling experience about an hour ago of suddenly getting notification that an in-world (and, as it happens, forum) friend, who has supposedly been dead for over a year (and whose passing was noted in at least one well-respected blog), had just logged off . . . I've had that happen because, at least in one instance it was someone I knew but isn't a listed friend and he told me that was why as he flew through me, they have the viewer set to render friends only.
