  1. In the UK they can. If you are sectioned under the mental health act or they deem you not to have capacity they can force you to have any medication & treatment they like.
  2. I asked one of the Firestorm developers about this problem & they said it was probably a case of FIRE-23299 - Memory bloat in Linux viewer since 5.1.7.55786
  3. I respectfully disagree with this. While some mental illnesses are likely present from birth (nature), others are caused by life events (nurture). There are thousands of academic studies examining nature vs nurture in mental illness.
  4. This happens a lot, it's a region problem. Usually the region needs to be restarted to fix it. If you are a premium member, use Live Chat & they will fix it for you asap. If you are a basic member then file a support ticket: https://lindenlab.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/31000131009-contact-support
  5. Are you able to raise the texture memory? Preferences -> Graphics -> Hardware Settings -> Viewer Texture Memory Buffer. Put the slider all the way over to the right. What's the maximum the viewer allows you to set?
  6. I'd expect all viewers to have the same problem here to be honest. Pity the OP didn't keep a copy of the broken tattoo layer so it could be investigated further.
  7. If you are really paranoid about anyone in SL getting your IP address: Disable media. Disable music streaming. Disable voice (this one is pretty important). Never click a link the snooper asks you to click - if they own the website they'll get your IP. Never click any scripted objects, attach any scripted objects or sit on any scripted objects that the snooper owns/created or has mod rights too- this is super paranoid level, but there are ways to get IP in this way. Imo just carry on as normal & accept your IP isn't private information & stop worrying about it. If you're really worried, use a VPN.
  8. It can also be caused by texture overload in the scene, including textures worn on nearby avatars. When the viewer runs out of texture memory, the textures will continually swap & load the textures most "interesting" to the viewer - usually those nearest to your camera & those under the mouse cursor & unload the textures that are the "least" interesting. Next time you see the textures thrashing, can you take a screenshot shot showing the Texture Console clearly. Activate the Developer menu in the top menu bar of the viewer with CTRL+AT+Q Developer -> Consoles -> Texture Console.
  9. I'm by no means a Linux expert but it's possibly a problem with the mesa graphics drivers. Is it possible for you to install non-mesa graphics drivers directly from Intel?
  10. This is most likely caused by a voice activated gesture that you have active that is playing chatting animations that are not compatible with your mesh head. Search your inventory for the term active and disable all your active gestures till you find the culprit.
  11. The "You cannot remove protected categories" message means that you have duplicated system folders & possibly other inventory corruption. Don't worry, LL support can fix this for you & it is extremely likely you will get back all your missing inventory. If you are a premium member, use Live Chat & they will be able to run the inventory repair script for you straight away. If you are a basic member then file a support ticket to get it fixed. https://lindenlab.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/31000131009-contact-support
  12. Blog post from LL explaining why this happened:
  13. Can you just clarify what happens when the textures "rebake"? Do you see the textures going blurry then sharp then blurry then sharp over & over again?
  14. Is there some reason you are using the 32bit version of Firestorm when you don't need to be? Though having said that, you might have problems running a 64bit viewer with so little RAM ( 3543 MB ). The 64bit Firestorm viewer should allow a higher texture memory to be set though, which will reduce or even stop the texture thrashing.
  15. You might want to take a look at this & see if you qualify: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Education_and_Non-Profit_Discount_Terms_and_Conditions
  16. This has been a problem for a long time Couple of the more recent JIRA issues: BUG-40824 - Missing Offline Group Notice (Unreliable Delivery) BUG-227691 - Group Notices - fail to show unless online
  17. Are you getting disconnected on non-EEP viewers too? The default LL viewer, which doesn't have EEP, can be downloaded here: Downloads | Second Life
  18. It sounds like you're being affected by this issue: BUG-37601 - Parcel privacy only works as expected when at least one agent is on the parcel ban list If you want avatar privacy to block people on your parcel lower down seeing you on your sky platform, make sure you have at least one name on the parcel ban list.
  19. It just means Dullahan_Host.exe has crashed. As for cause, impossible to say with doing some investigation & looking at your viewer logs. If this just happens occasionally then I wouldn't worry about it. Another Dullahan_Host.exe will just spawn when needed anyway. Causes could be: Running Windows Vista (hopefully not! lol). Certain inworld media is causing Dullahan to crash - worth a bug report if you find a specific media URL that often crashes Dullahan. Being in a location with a stupidly high amount of media on a prim sources. Antivirus or something else being all "helpful" & doing a scan on Dullahan files. Following the terrible advice from certain TV creators (I know who you are :P) & you installed their "patch" to "fix" broken media on their TV sets. (Don't do it kids!). Aliens.
  20. Does your partner also get disconnected after a few minutes when logging in on an alt account? If the disconnect happens on one of their accounts only, it is likely to be an inventory problem & they should contact Linden Lab support to see if their inventory is corrupted or needs deflattened. LL support can easily fix this. https://lindenlab.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/31000131009-contact-support
  21. If you can't find the source of the sound, please post a SLURL to the location where you can hear it.
  22. It's an old bug. JIRA issues: SVC-7129 - Attachments to group notices malfunction after some time BUG-202791 - Attachments to Group Notices become unavailable from the Notices popup window if you don't access them the first time you see them. Also, the chance of actually receiving your group notices, either online or offline is sketchy at best: BUG-40824 - Missing Offline Group Notice (Unreliable Delivery)
  23. It's implemented now. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LlGetSunDirection http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LlGetMoonDirection http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LlGetRegionSunDirection
  24. Expect to use around 1GB of data per hour, and this is when staying away from busy places & with draw distance dialed right down.
