  1. This. Also - if I cannot read your display name, I will then address you by your account name in all chats and IMs. Does that make sense, @NetLittleAngels04? I can understand wanting to be different, I can understand wanting to look pretty. But in the end, when it actually can make it more difficult for others (or outright annoying, as you know some of these can do) then it's really just a selfish conceit, right? I mean, you're only doing it as some kind of show-off, like Peacock feathers. At least that's how I see weird fonts in Display Names. Hahaha
  2. A noble effort. There are a few places that offer "free home here" though they are just locations on some sim or a way to "advertise" themselves through group listings, etc. I like how you have your set-up as a motel. The only real question (and a requisite I think) does joining your group allow them to "Set Home"? Becuase that's the real reason for having a home (CTRL+SHIFT+H).
  3. No. This. Even Addams and Blueberry and other "top-shelf" creators can miss the mark so I *always* try the demos. Every. Single. Time. Because it really does depend on the style of the item and if there is a radical difference in it (leotard versus a BDSM *****dress, for example, *snorts*) one may fit amazingly well and the other... not so much. I just feel more comfortable with those creators I know create good quality. At least to the point where in the odd case there is no demo, then depending on what it actually is, I'd be willing to risk it.
  4. The three impossible ways to be invisible in SL that I can think of: Being in a group. The only way to turn invisible in a group is to leave the group. Scripted agent trackers - a.k.a. "Online Trackers" - the scripts and objects flood marketplace and even free. Ping-test IM. Unless the person is already blocked, they only need to send an IM as a "ping" to test if you're online.
  5. Just be sure to tag or categorize your items carefully, fully, and completely. I go to a lot of creator pages and when I see a large eclectic variety of stuff my first impression is "oooOOOooo!" - then I simply filter my category to limit the selection to the items I'm shopping through.
  6. A great idea. For myself, even more important than LOD is Render Cost - THAT is what I'd like to see in all adverts, Market Place or vendors in world. Now when I say no demo=no sale I'm extra serious because when I look at demos, I'm not just looking at fit, I'm also seeing what it does to my RC number. As for LOD< That's just a matter of camming around.

  8. The most likely presumption is yes. Though there IS one quick and easy way to find out.
  9. It actually works on mainland parcels also: if you put a name on the banned list it also affects alts. At least it does in all the testing I've done.
  10. Precisely! Ditto. And where I reiterate that context is everything.
  11. Twitchy trigger-finger Lindens notwithstanding and full scenario of what Zeta's situation being unknown, if she was unbanned then I feel even more confident that LL is not stupid: they will investigate to find the truth - they have access to logs, IMs, chat histories and all the rest. Stuff we can't even imagine. My general point simply being: It's okay if you want to do the SL Kid thing, but also be alert as this is an example of what can happen: you have ner-do-wells on both sides of you: those that really are sickos (and you should AR them if it's beyond any reasonable doubt) and those who will try to sabotage you (always be alert and don't fall into any traps) just because they think you're creepy or something ... um, childish. (Pun intended)
  12. Well, all is forgiven as long as you've watched Sharknado I, II, and III.
  13. Yes. I lived in Willowdale for a long time. It's a nice place, though really no better or worse than any other. It used to be a bunch of sims, like 7 or 8, I think they've whittled it down some, which is an improvement in my mind - 1, 2, or 3 sims to make a community is plenty (and feels like a 'community'). Any more than that and it's not really a "community" anymore. Unless you call the entire cities of New York or London each to be a "community"
  14. An understatement, to be sure. Hahaha! My favorite: COPY/MODIFY product that comes in a NO COPY box (usually the texture they put on it) - so old-schoolers like me who rez on the ground to unbox go WTF!? when we are accidentally in a one-minute auto-return parcel. LOL Dollarbies where the best - and the only real reason I would even bother visiting an in-world shop these days. I rarely "go shopping" in-world because it's just too cumbersome (primarily the agonizing takes-forever-to-rez at each location). Oh, and PRO-TIP to creators: no demo=no sale for me, BUT ALSO - if you force me to come in-world to get or see a demo from your Market Place link you have just caused me to rethink my very interest in your product because I have to weight the effort and agony (see rezzing above) of suffering your in-world super-mall and then spent the next five to ten minutes finding the product and, hence, demo in there. Please: if you have a demo, include it on the MP - because if I even think I may like it I'll grab the demo and often I'll buy (see post above about putting MP links inside the notecard inside the Demo folder) Hahahaha
  15. And be creative when doing it, like: "For easy and efficient booty-calls"
  16. Bumping threads is a no-no. 21 wordless, useless bumps since the last comment. If there's no discussion going on to keep your thread going and all you are doing is bumping for advertising reason, then perhaps you may want to consider actually giving a reason to take another look at your sim? Because doing what you're doing only communicates the wrong message I think: "Dead, boring, they have to resort to *this*". How about joining the family/kid/role-play groups and actually making your case there? Sart by offering reasonably-priced housing. Just saying. And you;re welcome for this free bump.
  17. I could be misinterpreting it, but Gacha is a game of chance, which is (technically) against TOS. bahahaha. I *never* play Gachas or do breedables or do LIFE 2 HUD because they are all money-sinks designed to quickly and efficiently separate you from your money. The reason they are successful is that regarding those they prey on: stupid is as stupid does and as mean as that sound I say what I mean and mean what I say.
  18. Bahahaha! Yes, I do believe it is L$10 before they actually take anything out. Though I wish there could be a per-listing option about notifications "Don't notify me of sales for this item) - but here's the thing that is weird about MP: If you are inworld and you make a sale of anything L$5 or less, you are NOT notified (no cha-ching money sound, no message in chat). BUT if you are not logged-in then you always get the email. Hahaha. As for the L$1 price for anything on MP: I believe it's for the very same reason I do it: it allows that item to be gifted. And it makes it easy if I spot something while shopping and logged in with Avie A and think "OOh, Avie B may love this!" - I can gift it to my alt. And times I help someone else do some shopping and I say: hey try this! And send them the demo. *SMART* Creators always put their MARKETPLACE URL inside their notecards that they include with their demos. NOT! (well, the SMART ONES DO. I guess I just never buy from the smart ones. Ever.)
  19. Actually: 1 and 2 *were* true for a time. Is now definitely a myth. Number three was a threat, though I've never heard of anyone actually having to cough up anything. LOL I don't know about any combat HUD, etc. Though I do remember that some would surround you with an invisible sphere set to "sit on click" - but it would do other stuff, like orbit you; I don't recall any that would do the deform thing. Actually: they really did do this, or at least: used to. Not consistently, though, but generally they did seem to go through every once in a (great) while and run some kind of scrubber. Though you have to be *really* AWOL for a long time, and it really IS very inconsistent. I think now they just limit that to those accounts report as breached, accounts that are WAY in arrears (owe lots-n-lots of money acus they ain't paid tier), banned accounts and so on - basically those that are "dead" and cannot be revived by the user. Though THIS one is mostly what I 'think I saw" - though not entire ly sure.
  20. NOTE: If you upload a profile picture via the my.secondlife.com page: it will be squeezed into a square shape and shrunk (or stretched) to 512x512 pixels. For this reason, some feel the 10L upload fee is reasonable because setting your profile picture inside the viewer allows better quality. The website will STILL squish and shrink, but at least the in-word version will look great. Just wanted to mention this.
  21. Two ways: Visit your profile at my.secondlife.com - you can upload a picture for your profile and it doesn;t cost anything OTHER THAN QUALITY - it will be squeezed into a square shape and shrunk down to 512x512. The *BEST and EASIEST way is to upload a good picture into your inventory. Then look at your profile. DRAG the texture/picture from inventory onto the picture in your profile. WAIT FOR IT TO LOAD. After it has loaded completely, close profile, then open it again to verify it's there. If you're in a laggy place you may have to repeat the process, but usually, it takes the first time.
  22. I sell my freebies on MP for 1L$ for two reasons: 1) It allows you to GIFT it (say, to your alt or a friend) - if it is listed as 0L$ you *cannot* gift it. 2) Every time someone "buys" that freebie, no matter how much it is sold for, even 0L$ I get the email. I consider the 1L$ a surcharge for my having to deal with it. Not being funny or sarcastic: I am abso-farkingly serious. My personal take on group gifts is that they are more often epic-failures that can't be sold no matter what, so call it a group gift to trick people into joining your group and often forget to leave the group even after they realize how bad that gift is and throw it away. Then there are those who charge MONEY to join their group and what you pay to join their group rarely ever is recouped in any "discounts" or "group gift value" that you will receive. I stay away from group gifts. It is ridiculously rare that I ever see any that are both: high quality AND something I'd actually want.
  23. Yes, ditto. I know a lot of "SL Kids" and they invest into their avies, many are premium accounts. They aren't stupid enough to risk that. Though to be truthful, there also are a lot of ... twisted-minded types out there, too. I think (hope?) they are in the minority. As for furniture - and as you described in your post with the furniture store - if it's marked clearly as an adult-rated or "sex" bed, sofa, whatever - they will often steer clear, Otherwise, a lot of furniture cannot be determined by the design alone. So if they jump on one the first thing most will do is look at the menu. If those "adulty" options appear, they usually jump right off and move on. I've been following this thread since the beginning, but late to contribute, and chose to for just a couple days ago an SL Kid friend of mine went shopping for a "family-friendly" bedroom. There are the regulars, such as *AR* design - and they're great. But wanted to look around. SO in SL search we find an advert for a furniture store who sells "all types" including "family-friendly" versions - it said so right there in the advert. All we found were the Dutchie Specials (though not actually Dutchie LOL) We roamed the entire store, ALL of it. Not a single piece of furniture without the naughty in it. We were hopping on and off beds and sofas and anything just to see if we could find any, ANY. Nada, zip, zilch. And none were marked as "adult" furniture, but all of it was. So, this is a real-world example where context means everything. As for the thread in general: LL is not stupid. If they get an AR about the subject I have no doubt they will look into it thoroughly. At the same time, I'm also sure they will take many factors into account: Is it a "throw-away alt on freebie account" with zero investment into the avatar at all? How old is their account and how often is it used? Are they on Premium? Where do they spend most of their time (which sims, etc) - because let's face it, there are a few that can be considered questionable. I may be biased because I know a lot of people who play SL kids (and most have their "Bigs" when they intend to go "adulting",) but in general, I prefer to give the benefit of the doubt if I see one because the context is everything to me. In general, if you play an SL Kid, you don't have to look over your shoulder all time and you don't have to worry about the occasional "Whoops, I shouldn't be HERE" scenario if you make a good-faith effort to know your role and play by the rules. LL is on the look-out for the sickos who actively seek that which the TOS is intended to put the kerplunk on because we all know they're out there. I supposed the short statement would be: "Any reasonable person witnessing would come the conclusion that..."
  24. So the real question comes to this: Suppose the bed is in privately-owned (not some SL freebie sex-park), inside a private "residence" or whatever. The animation you've chosen has you sitting and reading a book. However, because you see "Cowgirl" and "Doggy" on the menu: Are you breaking CS or TOS if you continue to sit there? Or does CS and TOS *require* you to stand up and move to another space immediately on pain of being abuse-reported and banned? (Rhetorical question) - I believe it is the former, not the latter. Almost everything said in this thread are great comments. However, I genuinely believe it really boils down to *CONTEXT*. I believe: the "proximity" portions of this subject refer to publicly-available objects, etc., like one of the utterly countless sex-parks, and so on. Is it abuse-reportable if a child avie goes into an and adult-rated sim, that happens to house a mega-store full of "adulty" furniture just because they want to go shopping? (Again: rhetorical). I believe most playing child avies who end up in places they shouldn't be in do so by accident or otherwise by consequence (such as the example of being dropped at the Zindra Info HUB on login, etc.). And once they realize it will leave immediately, save for the time it takes to rez things out in order to realize it. It's about context.
