  1. I always have trouble knowing if it's a window or door with that sort of style. I guess there will be more walking into windows thinking they're doors in my future, not that I'll be sneaking into the houses to steal all the fruit out of the fruit bowls.
  2. Someone could make their dream horror house.
  3. It should be noted the original suggestion wasn't this. It was for open build areas with no theme outside of adult. If all that's wanted is open pieces of themeless land to put adult stuff on... finishing Zindra is the most sensible way to add it. What I'd imagine an adult Linden Homes area would be is a continent with a bit of each of the new themes, but with its own name and next to Zindra. That means each plot would have a house as usual. People would still have to follow all the usual rules, other than the adult content rules being different. Any outside furniture and such would need to be in theme. What would be nice is people cutting out the prude business and such. I'm asexual and indifferent to your sex dungeon. This means I have different hobbies to you, not that I'm a terrible person.
  4. The only one of my quick links that wasn't down was the Bellisseria fairground, so I'm taking the water taxi around some of the few surviving regions. It does have a very last survivor post-apocalyptic feel.
  5. It definitely wouldn't stop them. Adult mainland exists. That didn't stop someone opening a public sex area on the general region where I have my shop. People who don't read the rules will continue to not read them.
  6. My experience of malls is they don't usually earn enough to pay the rent. That's why malls end up empty. People would stay if they actually made money. Mall-style events work better. There was one of those run on the fairgrounds, which was run by the moles and free to sign up. But the main focus seems to be the shop & hop events.
  7. She needs to pay the debt and release the house and change the account to a free account. It's not a choice which to do. All the things need to be done. The house (and any mainland owned) must be released before it'll let the account be changed to a free account. She can continue to own land on private regions (places where the region owner is another resident).
  8. I consider Bellisseria and the mainland as areas that complement each other, rather than compete. I'm not alone in having a Linden Home and a mainland area. I use them for different things. From a business perspective, it's an advantage for Linden Lab if people do this. It means extra tier payments. So they're really not trying to discourage people from doing all the things.
  9. That looks like the Christmas Expo thing, rather than a new theme.
  10. The deadline for picking up the skelly bear is Sunday 14th November 2021 (it's past that for me, but probably still that for others). So if you haven't got it, don't wait any longer to go look.
  11. There's no reason why the house has to look like a regular house inside if you don't want it to. I don't have any need for a kitchen or bedroom or stuff like that. I just filled mine with fun stuff and mushrooms.
  12. If we're getting all the coal from Santa, I guess that makes us the baddest hunters out there!
  13. It's unlikely that people who turn up for the breedables will look at the homes or vice versa, unless they're already involved in both areas. My experience of being a merchant at the event was that people just didn't cross over from the other activity areas. They were there for that thing and that thing only.
  14. Patch mentioned in a post in the hunt thread to watch out for more events like this in the future. Whether it'll be Christmas or not remains to be seen. As far as drama goes, remember that the forum tends to emphasise things. An argument that would be over in a few minutes and forgotten inworld can blow up into a big thing that lasts forever on the forum. For the most part, people were happy and enjoying the event. The reaction to the prizes going out was positive. There are always going to be some problems, but it doesn't mean the event failed overall. It'll be fun to decorate for winter. I have mushrooms for every season. Though I do need to figure out how I'm going to dress up Trevor.
  15. Chilbo didn't stop being active because of tier issues or parcel size. The build is still there and you can still visit. Somebody is paying for it. But simply being there does not make it an active community. One day, only two people turned up to the town hall meeting. Me and someone who was new to the community. I found out later that the core of the people running things had decided to leave for other grids, but rather than leave a message, they just didn't turn up. This is the main problem. The community will only stay active as long as there are active leaders. This sets the maximum life of the community. The biggest problem to solve is to find a way to spread the organisation so it doesn't rely so much on one or a few people. You don't want people who are too connected to each other (like a group of friends deciding to start a community), because they'll all leave at once.
  16. I got in the top ten and stole all the other candy! Which you can see at my house, as the bears are having a picnic. The food is a selection of the stuff given out at houses during the event, except for the bowl in the middle (that's my treat or treat gift giver and you can click it if you missed it). 17. Do you think there will be a pumpkin fairy as a prize next year?
  18. It's not unusual for people to clear up from events too early, because they don't read the instructions. A few might have made a dramatic gesture because how dare you call someone using an exploit a cheater, but most removals aren't going to be down to that. There are still a lot of buckets out there though. (Edit: I meant to post this in the other thread where bucket removal was mentioned, but it's all the same topic in the end, so it's near enough.)
  19. I mostly buy pets (not breedable), toys, art and other things like that. I like things that are creative and colourful. I can't wear most clothes. I don't need much furniture, but prefer single animations only.
  20. They could do a radar hud and then still be able to keep residents placing the items. A radar hud would notify you if the region had any buckets and show a warmer/colder display of some sort as you get near them. I know people have been using the pins and area search in similar ways, but this would be more efficient and be there for everyone taking part.
  21. I find the discussion pretty uncomfortable from two directions. The first is I'm someone who talked about bad banning experiences, but I didn't ask for all orbs to be banned on my behalf. I want people to sort out their orb settings and for some changes to future events to make it easier to avoid stepping onto parcels. The second is trying to use times when someone has harassed a home owner to justify why it was okay to ban me for using the public areas. I am not the person who did the harassing. I didn't report anyone. I've done everything possible to stay out of the way during the event. It doesn't become okay for me to get randomly banned for using the road because someone else entered a house and shouted at the owner. What I will say is that I haven't been randomly banned for the last few days. There has been increased awareness about the event and some home owners have sorted their orbs after the complaints. Which was the goal in complaining.
  22. Open for visitors and there's a gift next to the bucket: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Aramis/131/24/21
  23. There are more than 800. Most people I've seen who say they've searched every region and can't find that many... they're going too fast. I've watched them fly over me at full speed and completely miss the buckets I find in that region. So, slow down! The biggest thing I think would encourage more to take part is to use set goals rather than a top ten sort of contest. Some people are hunting anyway, but I know a fair few who just clicked a few and didn't do more, because they knew they'd have no chance of getting top scores. Set goals reduces the impact of people gaming the system, which can happen with any system. It also goes better with people wanting to share their location and have visitors. It reminds me of the RFL issue, where they had awards for the top laps run. They expected the awards to go to people who spent the most time on the track during the weekend. They actually went to whoever had the fastest speed boost. Then they changed to awards for set numbers of laps, so anyone who ran the required number got the trophy. It meant more people could work towards the trophies and it shared the fun. It also meant the speed boosters no longer mattered. I really hope this contest does get won by people who spent a lot of time searching, especially as I'm one of them! But past history suggests that even if this contest works out, the next one won't.
  24. I lost a couple on a relog that didn't come back (I didn't crash, just logged out). It'd be wise to get a few if you're aiming for the first bear, just to be sure.
