  1. Did you not get the memo? We always have an annual "No Picking On Jo" day If it's a matter of fair and equal treatment. We still can't figure out why such things occur like, post counts that carried over for some people and not for others. It was most likely a fluke at best. Basically there is NO consensus. It is the moderators judgement call. Period.
  2. Gacha's are such wonderful photo opportunities. I love to get in early with my premium status, not buy a thing, and then send piccys of all the wonderful stuff to all my non-premium friends on feeds
  3. @Kaliope Karas Dakota provided a link to your question which clearly states on that page: Abuse of Moderation or Moderators: Please honor our moderation process and the decisions that come out of it; they are being made in order to provide you with a productive environment for conversations about Second Life. We prohibit abuse of our moderation process, including the following: Posts that discuss or re-post material that has been removed or locked by a moderator Posts questioning a moderator’s decision If you are in doubt of a decision concerning a thread , it is best to goto that thread and use the 'Report post' feature to address such concern. Posting a new thread about moderator decisions will simply get that thread locked or removed in most cases, whereas such topic is not up for discussion on open forums.
  4. The whole adult forums should have been more thought out to begin with. I know countless times where there were ads in both general and announcements of the adult forums. Very convoluted if you ask me.
  5. right click? one should always have the edit window up as it is especially if rezzing or editing anything out from inventory and last I checked you can't use right click (rezz) object, if the object is not already out this way you immediately have a hold of it in edit context and are ready to go. lag can hit, sometimes doing a right click or a simple miss-click one can inadvertently select delete or some other option from the right click menu.
  6. ok are we talking shapes that the consumer made? or one the the creators have made? and if the latter, why and where is the documentation on this information, because it is news to my eyes that 2.0 requires a female shape. If this is the case then why does Hydrogen even bother making neck sheaths for the Aesthetic mesh for males if using a female shape would fix the issue? Again where is the documented proof of this practice? I personally chalk it up to creator choice and or laziness upon packaging shapes for sale items.
  7. to call up the edit window and cursor to grab stuff use Control +3 (Command + 3 for macs) the cursor will change to one that has a small cross on it's base.
  8. this question is definitely a carry over from RL. In the state of Idaho for example , no club or establishment may be considered in legal term for license as a 'gay club/bar', they may use the term alternative or college though. So the debate is valid. I do have to say I have seen gay couples in both rl and sl 'straight frequented' clubs dancing and going about the usual club business. Not always, but these place do exist.
  9. oh hell! the most effective way to keep your experience secure and enjoyable when on SL is just to make sure you have a towel and windex on hand for your monitor and keyboard. Stop clicking every link that pops up. you can let other people log onto your account if you know and TRUST them, just make sure you change your password again after they are through on your account. You should change your password every so often as it is (and encrypt it ffs!) Do not tell robots up on meeting them, to shut up if they start talking to you. They are known to be people in SL and not NPCs. learn how to use control+shift+H short cut for quick exits (command+shift+H for macs) unless someone faxes you a certified copy of their ID and Birth Certificate, I would take any claim of any age with a grain of salt. Use your best judgement. Like Chin said, don't give out personal detailed RL information, especially right away, in SL it comes off a bit creepy.
  10. yes, in script with detect mass I believe , as well. I don't recall updates (through debugged indicators that are seen coming from the avatar or object upon contact) as visible when walking through an object. There was recorded behavior infact of object mass becoming corrupted (Solid objects) when an avatar or other object passed through or was placed inside the object. It would then become phantom and would not regain the attributes to change back to solid after even in manual edit. This was generally seen in cases with floors in prim buildings.
  11. aside from physics models themselves, and fps, I personally never assume what someone's machine or connection might be if I am dealing on a public arena and go with the easiest methods for a solution, and I see no problem either way with whatever the creator dreamed up on final execution if the item is modify. It's easy enough to script an item to become solid or phantom on command if one so chooses (many flying vehicles back in the day employed this toggle feature to avoid crashing into solid cottages and stores). Does anyone recall the bug eons ago where Linden Trees suddenly became solid objects? It wan't pretty that day
  12. Turning off collision (making the item phantom) also prevents updates of said collision (walking into from a physics based entity, being your avatar) data being sent to the server , thus reducing lag. I generally always advise my friends to set their furniture and decor (stuctures with physics shapes excluded ofcourse) to phantom for this reason. Unless it's meant to be walked on like a ground plane, there is no practical reason to have an object set to non-phantom otherwise.
  13. Rhonda, ofcourse I'm not taking the so called class, but regardless the problem won't be solved unless people ask and speak up to the topic presented. Most people that I know of in SL come to these forums asking how to become a model and ofcourse we tell them, go google it , do some research, well this post has saved them part of the time in searches but there has to be more to the story than, "Fill this application out and pay us money and then we will fill you in on the big secret" Blogging isn't exclusive to modeling either (there are a bunch of scripting and tech blogs related to SL, out there too). Blogging is imperative as a marketing skill to promote ideas and products and yes a lot of research is required to master this skill, but research is needed in any job arena to be taken seriously. I have my doubts when it comes to the amount of research and pay off that one receives in the modeling industry in SL. I would like to see some serious discussion I suppose from some of these agencies on how they outline their curriculum and standards for teaching and what the outcome is for the relevant people involved.
  14. I simply don't agree. to me this is an over priced come on , for something that is relatively free in SL. A little research and practice on ones own goes a long way. (a lot of merchants use alts to advertise merchanise because seriously who wants the drama of waiting on someone to come on schedule and then get the project done exactly the way they want it) and there are people out there who will help in these areas for free. It's Role Play. For one thing, look over the application. Spelling isn't their biggest strength. This has nothing to do with with me being in some 'fashion clique' in SL.
  15. Too many reports, oh you mean incomplete or off topic reports? Then they should state if it is their intent to discourage people from using such a feature (but I doubt this is the case and LL isn't always the most transparent of entities). Yes black would work well but and while you can mouse over the tool, that is actually more of a behavior that a touch screen (like a phone or tablet) would use and I do have a touch screen laptop. It would actually be nice if one could simply choose standard web based format, or mobile web, but this is what we have.
  16. Buy a sim and make the most fabulous home you can imagine. You could open it to public or invite all your RP friends and family(s) over to explore. It will keep you busy for countless amounts of time. You would be amazed at all the different people you can meet at your own sim.
  17. The light grey on white background isn't exactly the most compelling or 'Notice Me!' of color themes. Maybe if the link widget were recolored in say... red?
  18. So, this isn't role playing? What educational accreditation is one taking away from this experience of classes? (I assume there are classes).
  19. got this shot on camera looking up the street, it was chilly briefly for those 2 minutes here near the coast in Oregon
  20. See men? This is what really happens when we open our big mouths and volunteer our opinion on the job that is 'Shopping'. They hold us at gun point and MAKE us go shopping with them to see how much work it really is!
  21. That practice of 'Photoshop manipulation' of any ad , especially on Avatars, should be disallowed and flag worthy when these type of advertising practices occur. I have to agree, there are various avatars that are sold on MP looking great on an ad, but upon purchase (as full or demo) the outcome is completely no what was advertised.
  22. @Jeny Howlett Hums the tune , Ohhhhhhh... Brown eyed girl
  23. I would give up the head, basically because the body can only be customized so much imo , whereas the head (face particularly) can also be customized beyond just the shape. I mean a body is just chest and nipples otherwise and maybe a six pack for added detail but not a lot otherwise. With a mesh body I can expand on the details that the system AV body misses too. and no more flintstone feet... ever! lol
