  1. These are some cool developments in going no pose-ball. Please understand, I don't want to make furniture though (hence why I have a personal supplier) I just get ideas with a no-poseball system and forward my ideas then onto her to make into a complete AVsitter set, ofcourse my work in that can include suggesting poses that are needed for the project then. I tried to make my own mens razor shaving animation onetime for some pedestal sinks I had made.... the results looked like me chopping my face off in fast motion , so I will leave the animations to the experts @Phil Deakins , no I shouldn't have to restart the system with poseballs and rezz rods , but in some old systems, this was required and in some cases also needed to dismiss the damned Pose Rods lol, not sure if that would be a glitch, but it was always something prevelant in many of my 'antique' beds I've owned (and don't forget the dreaded notecard data list of positions that some people had to learn how to fill out in order to control setups).
  2. I am a case of 'Spoiled' and have my own furniture supplier who keeps me updated with AVsitter compatible sets as they come out. Their stuff is also modifiable so I can set say, a chair for example, to invisible and super-impose it onto another object like a counter or table or rock and come out with some pretty nifty pose arrangements. On the other hand , Poseballs while direct are antiquated technology even in terms or scripts and aesthetic and unless you are the owner , you can't adjust the poses most times unless the poseball works with an engine that allows one to pass current user properties to others and not just group. With beds, and poseballs, I always had to have an alt or alternate myself on the positions and rotations to set them , but with non- poseball systems , I or the other sitter can easily adjust from a simply interface from a menu and you can save your position and rotations and not have to shut down and restart the object in question. Single poseballs are still effective for many animations setups though too, but no-poseball (AVsitter) seems more convenient overall.
  3. most embarrassing would be when I ventured to make a webbing platform using an auto rez script with web textures (semi transparent) textured torus as a platform. The idea is sound enough, but not when you accidentally enter into the parameters 400000, instead of 40 for the approximated sides and don't catch the error and state the rez command , spewing millions of faces since the original source is torus. then the immediate phone call I had to make pleading with Lee Linden to come help because suddenly no resident or linden on hand in the sandbox I was doing this in, could move, let alone stay logged in. all public sandboxes and vehicle sims rolled back 9 hours and atleast 20 people losing project builds along with reciprocating IMs from fellow sandbox users , a stern yelling at (over the phone mind you) and warning never to use alpha in a rezzer and not without a die or stop command was enough to prompt me to not to pursue any wild ideas for atleast week when I felt it might be safe to come out again.
  4. Yes, some lovely soul thought it would be neat to add the 'Squicking' sound rubber soles make from mens boots too >.<
  5. whaa? no particles?! buuuu that's like cup cakes with no sprinkles! shopping with us is like a party in your mouth!
  6. I do have to giggle at the merchants that sell an item with the proud announcement of how the product is "ONLY 2 Li !" and the package it comes in is 42 -120 Li or more? lol just give me a a pre-unpacked no Li folder
  7. on top, of boxes that ask if they may animate you, I don't like those boxes that upon rezzing, auto unpack and then give you an audible "Thank you for your purshase. Thank you for shopping with us". in a creepy monotone male or female voice . So now only do I have to tell said box that, "no I would not like you to animate my avatar" I now have to remember to turn sounds off before getting home and unpacking HUD un-packers are the way for me
  8. I do agree. I encourage people to directly make dialogue with their favorite creators when they do see some area in content that could use improvement especially if they have taken the time to research their ideas to present to said creator. Many times I do see the lament that it is simply a matter of limitation within SL and that is it a matter of 'amateur creators' not knowing better. I don't buy this at all. There are countless platforms (AAA online games for example) where it's creative team is absolutely not concerned in the least with end user impact. They are no better then, just because they on a different tool set of creation, they simply don't care in the oversight to meet other priorities at the time. There are countless times I have contacted creators about environments assets that are set to collision thus causing a person to get stuck in said asset. It has always been remedied later because most in the field know that collisions in any platform can produce bad results if not properly executed or monitored. We get lag over time if items are physics and collision based. It's no different in other engines and platforms. I know plenty of so called amateurs in SL that do use better practices and solutions. I currently wear the Aesthetic mesh body and I am in regular contact with the Hydrogen when an issue or idea arises. Understand that the Aesthetic body is atleast 7 direct attach points (Upper body, Lower body, Left hand, Right hand , Left foot ,Right foot, Head, and Neck blender if so desired). the upper and lower body portions share a similar structure in texture face hierarchy as well (we are limited to 8 per mesh iirc). If one were to link the upper and lower body , there is the chance that it may then not work with the current Alpha and Color HUD that comes with the body , let alone the skin applier, there is a reason some attachments are set as separate attach pieces. Hydrogen has done a lot of work over time with this product in best optimizing it. If you are like me you wear the body with Tattoos in use but then that can restrict the use of a body hair (tattoo) because that layer slot has been filled. the solution for this then is to create a copy of the upper and lower body for body hair and then render all 4 total pieces non-scripted and then link to bring them back down to 2 pieces each or 1 if upper and lower are linked as one since both are rigged. I noted that in other mesh bodies (particularly female mesh models) that they are generally 1 unit including hands and feet but not always including the head but yes even the head in some cases. I do think there has to be a way to link said parts that are mod, atleast with a non-scripted full perm object even if rigged , to help reduce the attach points. Throw in rigged and it get a bit more involved when you take position and alignment with non rigged into account.
  9. Yes , I got the humor too , and actually I'm glad they atleast gave us a visual clues and not just a wall of text and numbers to read over. I wear a very minimal of attachments in actuality ( I usually have atleast 5-6 free slots on a good day) but some arrangements do call for more robust ideas, like 3D body hair. Guys do or have worn attachment based body hair since atleast 2010 or longer (though not so much anymore) and I happen to like the added fluff besides painted on textures to the mesh body. I guess the resolution to this would be to ask nicely for those body hair designers to maybe revamp their creations as a complete linked body suit to fit perhaps, (here we go with the whole linked ensembles that was decried in another thread, until it was pointed out that this practice was used for Demos in many cases). but it might be one solution. I do wish LL could give us some sort of answer asto how and why they came up with the number 38 in the first place. One of the reasons I take interest in this topic overall, is because I started out in attachment based avatar creation (my AV's usually have over 8 and sometimes 16 legs) for my lively hood in SL for a good amount of time.
  10. HUDs still count against attachment point slots ( this thread is about increasing attach points) HUD's are usually rendered invisible (last I checked ) when taking snapshots and photos. Sensible people.......can go stand over there -------------------> Jellydolls (jeeze that make me hungry for gummi bears everytime I see that term) are for people who don't put their computer tech as a priority and put it off til the next decade thus running on antiquated hardware , whereas I did take the time and money to prioritize my system to handle such complexity and I therefor can stick my complexity all the way up and be happy I don't have kids to spend my money on, nor theaters, or bars or vacations, so my machine has a fluid smooth experience in SL among other virtual platforms to the full advantage. but with 38 attachment slots it gets clunky (ok it's sort of a game really to see how I can best fool the system into working with only 38 attach points). I don't goto events. after 13 years in SL , trust me i've seen them all and besides do steel beams and palm trees draw that much complexity? Now i want to see me , but with my oodles of junk on at 50 attach points and I feel really bad for that kitty with no whiskers the humanity.
  11. In all seriousness I can appreciate the people who manage to stay at 20 or under attach points and for the sake of their fellow user and the impact they play on the platform overall. One idea I have thought of though is what if, we had a Static and Dynamic mode or state in the client? SL as it stands now is a very dynamic world with many moving parts. But what if I just want to take a super detailed picture with the content that I have now? One could simply go into a Static State that would momentarily freeze their instance (and most likely have to be done at a home point ) with atleast 100 content spots available ( this could include non attached too). Put it on a timer even , like 5 minutes or so. and then when that time is up, the standard dynamic behavior resumes and you can only attach 38 points again. We already have a 'Record' feature in Developer (or Advanced ?) menu . It would be nice if this could be expanded on. In 'That other World' LL is working on they do appear to be working in instanced based environments and I don't see why something like this couldn't work in SL. The engine would most likely support it too, but then again we still can't even Undock HuDs or Window interface so who's to say.
  12. Well I can make some great outfits with my mesh and the HUD controllers they come with, but then I want to ride my Bento Horse while wearing said fabulous outfit, but I can't because Horsey is upto another 5 attach points and I dun wanna join a Horse Riding group
  13. I would trade in 20 of my group slots for 20 more Attachment Points. I have tried the whole Link HUDs as one objects trick and that just breaks the touch event in one HUD or another and most times, it's a matter of finding on HUD that is full perm (or made by me) to link with other HUDs. P.S. We SO need a Pitchforks and Torches Emoji too!
  14. hmmmm I looked over this 'survey' if that's what Daria wants to call it . It seemed pretty incomplete to me though. A lot of brand names and their store products were not listed, that are commonly seen inworld and even mentioned on this forum.
  15. well, posting your question in the proper forum , like Forum>>People>>Avatar or Forum>>Creation>>Fashion , etc. would be a good start. did you take those pictures yourself? if so, why not ask the Avatar wearing them. also there are now hundreds of eyebrow variation appliers out there, and they can all look unique depending on head and shape (i.e. one might look like the another too).
  16. Yall remember Club Edge...
  17. ok oops well here it is haha. i looked and i have a pic of me in my VERY first shirt and pants that i got ,a and in the other the first skin i had from Logan Bauer who amazingly did muscles back then , he was so awesome haha
  18. Yes Aislin, we can start a Show us your VERY first look (circa 2003/2007)) thread :P, oh and happy upcoming 10th rezz day!
  19. why not get a microphone, and put some heels on, and walk around recording the click and make your own sound wav file. What you are asking is better covered in a 'Wanted' forum.
  20. If the persons(s) in question invite themselves into my presence upon my login all up on me and in my box, there is yet another option "oh damn those 15 second unscheduled Sim Restarts!"
  21. That's been my whole philosophy and approach to scuffs in SL. You want to say something nasty about me? Say it to my face. (which ever face that is I have on that day)
  22. Aislin, thanks for bringing this topic up. Now I know I'm not the only one who this drives the blood pressure up on. I do have to say that sadly this is a kickback of an old social experiment from 'The Lab' in their all encompassing approach at how people should and might interact with each other on this platform in building social networks. I have voiced my dislike for being IM'd immediately when I log in (1. I have a plethora of Inventory that has to load. 2. I am waiting for my surroundings to load. 3. I am waiting for my Avatar form and attachments to load) my mind is still warming up and preparing for whatever project I had in mind, but that steady peace is broken at times with that incessant 'Ding! Ding! ANSWER ME NOW' noise and pop up I get. This is just how I am. (and there are others who do not like to be jumped immediately coming online.) Hiding online status does not help (one can check groups too to see true status ). I have told these offenders of this practice not to IM me immediately after seeing me log in, to me it's rude and to give me atleast 10 minutes after they see my name come up, before hitting that IM button. I get a responses from "ohhh I'm sorry I didn't know , to " it's not a big deal I just 'wanted' (keyword WANTED) to talk." After 12 and 1/2 years in SL , sometimes enough is enough of these dismissive responses to bad manners. While my stance on status privacy might seem over reactive and selfish, I find people so jump me without thought to my plans in SL are being extremely rude and selfish themselves. Yes I friended them for a reason, but along with friend goes the attribute of human which I still show a side of when logging on that I don't want my blankets yanked off in so many words and thrust into anothers train of thought right then. My only solution for this problem ( and it helps avoid those awkward moments of when you have set yourself to offline to someone and they bump into you seeing you are online and the drama wheels start rollin) I Block them and take a note, and at a later date when I am ready I unblock the offender. If I am not that invested or close to said person, I in the extreme unfriend them and sometimes I answer when asked why and sometimes I don't. The Lab imo still needs to remember that some of us are paying users on this platform and a little semblance of privacy and order would go a long way and it isn't too much to ask. *I also have most Group Notices turned off and Group Messages for this very reason as well, until I am ready to further deal with that particular group (some can be very tenacious in their spam tatics.
  23. I live in Sternwood Forest in the land of Havru.
  24. That's a shame too because it's a great way to promote others works, otherwise creators wouldn't allow release on other form of media thus ensuring they might get a new sale too.
