  1. I suggest Prodigal. They also carry a line of mens ethnic skins.
  2. I love it! that's a great surreal effect :matte-motes-big-grin:
  3. My main focas has generally been glass. It is truly hard to mimik the effect of glass material in SL itself as a3D platform. I think though, alot of sharp contrasts and play with dark and light and thick and thin sharp and soft angle, are good starters. Also keeping it simple can make any object or composition complex. Alot of 'First Life' rules apply (weather it's physics or specular) and can be added sparingly but with sharp attention paid to the flow and outcome.
  4. Ok Val you got my attention! lol Great thread and pictures guys! This is an image I took of my new chapel at my home, I even added sculpted lightbeams to the windows for the full effect :smileyvery-happy:
  5. ty wildcat ,still trying to figure out how to get the proportions just right on this set. It's a long room perspective angle and hard not to chop off areas that should be in the image, even after moving pose balls. I guess alot of my drive to do these 'Live' model shots are for people who are wondering if it's possible to get surreal or amazing effects with inworld snapshots, if one doesn't have access to graphics editors ( though there are free ones like The Gimp), and some people don't have the patiences to log out and edit the image further or follow countless hours (even days, lol) of tutorials. And being as this is an arts and photography forum. I'm hoping people creating thier works directly inworld know they don't always have to have those editors on hand to achieve some really new looks in art. It's all in our grasp within the tools and contents we have inworld too, to push the limits and see what is possible. I remember what SL looked like back in 2004 and how I wanted to help shape that look and those ideas. One can only imagine what SL will appear like in 5 years from now
  6. Thank you guys :smileyhappy: I'm still working with various sets and trying to utilize every effect I can think of at my disposal for photographing in SL, but I want it all derived from SL. In the past I've spent countless hours learning every technique from photoshop and other offline programs I could wrap around my head with. Now I want SL to form the art to where I can simply snap a picture, and only have to do minimal effect (such as cropping, cleaning, and mabey some gamma, but only 2%-5% and the other 95-98% SL content). This moring My twin and I went to our newest set which is done in white alabaster, a skin was made matching the wall as well and then apha clothing layers. We then stood in as the models instead of using sculpted avatar form or object maniquins. This latest work was a struggle though, from the sit pose to the lighting and windlight selections. That and we had to be sure to create a feature the eye focased on without getting lost in the set. We're still not done with this piece (IMO).
  7. Only one shape? I've been in SL a long time and I can't think of any reason why I would restrict myself to only one set of proportions. I have several sizes I created for my AV for fitting for various clothing and attachments or for specific photographs and even for special occasions or events. I have a shorter AV on hand for example reserved for a friend of mine who likes me at a particular height to hug them ( you could use this approach I guess to drop the hint to some one Offer them a hug or the like, lol. I know the old saying " you can't please everyone" but you can suredly comprimise in SL. And after each shape tweak, simply go into appearance>>Make Outfit and make sure the shape is checked to be copied over into your outfit folder.
  8. Second Life: Jesus has been returned to your inventory lost and found folder by (???) from parcel 'Route 1' at Rivula 147, 86 due to parcel auto return.
  9. I am very excited after my recent photoshoot today. Having created a new custom pose for the piece, I have assembled photos based on a sculpture I created inworld as well as Bryce. It was so cool to be a part of the process directly. It's alot of work setting up initially and setting windlight settings selecting a custom skin for wardrobe, lighting, and action! If anyone wants to add thier statuesque photos, please do!
  10. Thank you Suella for this wonderful tutorial. This is a practical guide to making a very realistic mirror image within SL and for other platforms to diplay in. You definitely deserve those kudos:smileyhappy: I recently started a Mirror Project' of my own ( and I've been using the technique you outline for years now) and wanted to do this effect in SL in 'hard mode' given inworld constraints. One important thing you point out is that the geometry of the limbs and features have to be flipped, and that alone will make a great mirror image. I have more information on my technique at: The VaNiTy ThReAd here is what I came up with so far.
  11. here are the two I went to: HelaMiyo estetica and one other for females I saw MaD mAX Design I hope those links work. :smileyhappy:
  12. actually I read the thread when in the process of this project. I'm using two live models( myself and my SL twin) with the room split in two by a glass divider ,in the photos, so there was minimum editing ( this isn't a flipped image like one would normally do. I did find two places that sold specific poses for mirrors, and they work perfectfectly, but there are only a few, and not many that work as well with men, though one can improvise. This was a major project though whereas I generally do motion photograhy myself.
  13. ty, i always love seeing all the wonderful eye candy you all present :smileyhappy: there is so much inspiration to be had in wonderful reads like this thread. btw, well all need to go over to the Animations forum and start bugging those animation creators to make us more geometically correct Mirror Animations! :smileyvery-happy:
  14. Vanity is thy middle name.... Even in SL
  15. Alpha Point! because unlike it's sister sim Omega point, it is unmolested and free of comercial characters (i.e. tons of Info signsm Vendors, Socializing ques, etc.) It is a piece of art left up to the imagination and one can enter it undisturbed by immediate text stimulus. It is truly visual and contemplative. It's also the perfect sim for photographers too without any intrusion away from the subject at hand.
