  1. It was only a couple of weeks ago that we were setting records for high temps in Sept. And now we have this coming up (temps are Fahrenheit). I'm as totally NOT ready. What the hell happened to autumn?
  2. Did you have a question about this?
  3. This - especially the last part. I write inworld mostly the same as I do online, except for hitting enter more frequently, rather than typing paragraphs. I write inworld and in the forums in much the same way that I do for casual emails. In all of those I tend to still attempt to properly use caps and at least semi/mostly correct grammar and phrasing - but it is casual, unlike my prim and proper work emails.
  4. Because the part of the SL community that visits the Forums apparently likes the General Discussion are quite a bit: The highest number of posts in any of the non-People sections is just shy of 51,000 in the Merchants sub-forum. The highest number of posts in the Answers section is just shy of 48,000 for the Technical sub-forum.
  5. While I do go exploring off and on, I also spend a lot of time doing hunts and shopping, both of which I pretty much always do by standing in one spot and camming around. I highly doubt that anyone is going to find that very interesting to watch, but more power to them if they so desire.
  6. Hence the whole reason that Pamela started this thread.
  7. Except that per the Community Guidelines: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Community_Participation_Guidelines "Off Topic Content: Please keep your commentary relevant to the discussion and within the format that the forum, board or question and answer area require. (For example, in the Answers section, please follow the Q&A format of the discussion.) Content that is blatantly off topic is not permitted. You may also not post regarding subjects that do not relate to Second Life except in the General forum discussion board." Notice the last sentence of that.
  8. There is also this thread that mentions a gift of premium membership:
  9. Yes, when I buy stamps, I always get the Forever ones. That has definitely saved me a few pennies here and there over the years.
  10. 49 cents now - I still use them on occasion. Correction - I forgot that it increased to 50 cents this past January.
  11. One note on this part: If the PayPal account is backed up by a credit card rather than a bank account, I would not transfer funds from it to PayPal. That would likely be viewed as a Cash Advance rather than a Purchase and you'd have to pay the associated fee (and potentially a higher interest rate if you maintain a balance on the card).
  12. Linden Homes are currently all on 512 sqm plots, so you get 175 LI for your use - and as Rolig said, the house does not count toward that 175.
  13. There are no "bills". Your L$ transaction history and your account billing history are only ever available online - though you can download them. Yes, you can remove the card - you can remove it right after the L$ purchase happens if you wish.
  14. In general, I think most derails are harmless. If the original topic has not been answered (if a question) or not met its normal end of discussion, then the derails are usually pretty short lived. However, I am a firm believer that politics and religion are not good for discussions on forums unless the forum is specifically set up for it. Those two topics just always seem to devolve into nasty spats rather than any sort of actual discussion or debate. If there is one sure way to ensure that a thread is going to go downhill in a hot mess, just start posting political or religious views.
  15. Wow, talk about a rude slam. Are you familiar with the viewer code base? Have you attempted to modify it? I've never looked at the viewer code, but I know from years of coding, including modifying code that someone else wrote, trying to add features without breaking existing stuff is incredibly difficult, often more so that the original creation itself. It does require an extreme level of understanding of the base work.
  16. Remove the names from your post - you are not allowed to name folks in the forums. Per the person's profile, send them an IM for assistance. IMs will typically go to email when the user is offline. Many merchants will monitor their emails and respond. Whereas, they won't see a notecard until they log back in. As to the group key, if you know the group name, pull up the group profile and the key is typically there on the profile window when inworld. If you are looking at the group profile from the web profile page, hover your mouse over the "View group info in Viewer sidebar" link and copy the url. The group key is the part between "group/" and "/about" in that url.
  17. And don't wear tops that are sheer or semi-sheer.
  18. Lindal also noted that the ones she hasn't read yet are in bold. I wonder what dictates that because my notification for regular posts (other replies to threads that I've posted in) actually show as not bold if I haven't read them yet and change to bold after I've read them. My notifications for quotes & references are the opposite - they start out bold and shift to non-bold after I read them.
  19. Just put in a Support ticket or use Live Chat -- since you are still Premium until the actual expiration date, Live Chat should still be available to you. Ensure your payment method is up to date and then just tell LL that you want to cancel the downgrade. https://lindenlab.freshdesk.com/support/tickets/new https://support.secondlife.com/start-chat/ Live Chat is available 5am to 3pm PST every day.
  20. My reason for not wanting them to hang around: I have eye issues regarding light which make it difficult for me to sometimes distinguish between bold and not bold, so it is often hard for me to tell the difference between the notifications that I've already read and the ones I haven't.
  21. Yeah, I wondered that myself. Though truly could be just avoidance of what they should be doing.
  22. I personally wish folks from both sides of the aisle would stop with the political commentary here on the forums. It is incredibly tiresome - and yes, BOTH sides are equally at fault. I come to SL for some escape from RL. If I want to listen to political arguments, there are plenty of other places for me to get that.
