  1. Let's let them finish getting the current stuff squared away. There are only so many LL workers. They still have lots of work to do just to take care of the extreme demand for the new stuff.
  2. I actually expected to get an email also, even if a bit after the fact. In addition to setting up your notifications so that you get notified if Patch updates that thread, you can also get notified when LL updates the Blogs - which is where the official announcement happened on this.
  3. Yeah, that makes sense. Especially given the overwhelming popularity of the houseboats and how (fairly) easy it would be to convert that island into sandbars and boat slips. Rather nifty idea that someone came up with.
  4. Per the Grid Status page (https://status.secondlifegrid.net/) it should be better
  5. I submitted one 2 days ago about a problem with my houseboat - still not resolved - but the house disappearing entirely will probably get handled sooner.
  6. At least, not until a lot more plots have been released.
  7. Another vote for textures - For every piece of the houses and houseboats (inside and out), dock texture (we did get sidewalk texture with the houses, so dock makes sense), and as someone else mentioned maybe one or more of the trees used in the areas, so we can blend better. No commercial stuff added, please, and IMO, definitely not any fishing or other game stuff on any of the sims designed for living. The various communal areas like pools and parks are great though. Any area designed for large gatherings should be on separate sims from the living areas. Speaking of communal areas and wanting to create some master list or map or such - this thread looks to be starting a list:
  8. The Grid Status page was updated today (https://status.secondlifegrid.net/)
  9. I'm going with Super Secret Project for eXtraTerrestrials. They did say there would be multiple themes/styles.
  10. This is actually common across the internet in general. Being pretty much anonymous lends some people to behaving far worse than they would to people in RL. By the same token, there are a lot of folks that assume anyone disagreeing with them is being rude to them or picking on them, etc.... So, IMO, it is a combination of some folks truly be more rude on the internet and others just being overly sensitive.
  11. You can always file a ticket, but it is unlikely they will change it for you. Sometime / soon (this year or next or....) they will offer the ability to change your avatar name. However, you will have to be a Premium member and pay a change-name fee (various talks have indicate it will likely cost somewhere around US $25 range).
  12. My first account was created in early 2007. Since then I have taken many breaks from SL - some short, some long (years). Lots of people take breaks. Don't feel like you have to force yourself to be here.
  13. It isn't a matter of bad forecasting, it is a matter of how fast they can actually create the stuff. If you bring up your map inworld and type SSP then you'll see their work area. That will also show you the additional houses & houseboats they are frantically trying to finish along the eastern / southeastern continent edge. They don't want this area to look 'cookie cutter', so it does take some time for the workers to actually do the work. There will be another batch released soon. IMO, I'd guess before the end of the month, maybe even as early as next Mon or Tue (that is my guess only - I have not heard anything about a date for the next batch).
  14. Truthfully, even after LL rolls out more, I still doubt that everyone that wants a houseboat will get one. There is only so many water plots they can create and I doubt they want to create so many water plots that too much of the inland stays empty. I do believe that everyone that wants a new Linden Home will be able to get one in some theme, though maybe not their first choice of themes. Just a note - in case you care about any of the other Premium benefits, they will remain in effect until the current Premium membership period expires. i.e. you'll still get your weekly L$ stipend -- and if you paid for quarterly or yearly, then it will remain in effect long enough for you to also get the signup bonus. Actually it will, but you still have to do things very carefully and in a specific order unless you are willing to potentially pay $4 for a single month of tier. LL probably should put a disclaimer on the Premium signup page or wherever they advertise the Homes saying something along the lines of "a particular house type is NOT guaranteed". In this case, it might have helped in the houseboat expectations, but not in the availability of the New Homes overall.
  15. That's how I keep accidentally getting that darn screen on my monitor. Sometimes I fat-finger things and then can't figure out how the heck whatever just happened.
  16. You will still be able to set the parcel so that anyone outside of it cannot see you or hear chat. There will be a supplied security orb that will be added to the content pack that is in the mailbox/buoy. It will have some limitations built into it around how quickly someone can be booted and how much area it can cover. 100% correct - and that actually was their intention. It already had a covenant saying what you could and could not do. They have simply added to it. Private regions do it also. If you want true full control of your land/home, then use your Premium 1024 tier for regular Mainland. You already know this. Not necessarily. LL makes the rules here. They offer you two options for land with your Premium membership: Get a Linden House (and abide by the stated covenant) or go apply your 1024 tier to a piece of regular mainland. The covenant on these Linden Homes, outside of the ban line / security orb restriction are actually far, far more lenient than the old Linden Homes. Over there, you are much more restricted in what can be placed outside your home and no skyboxes at all. In case it was missed before: LL makes the rules. If you don't like the Linden Home rules, there really are other home options in SL. If you are pissy enough about it, then feel free to spend your entire SLife being ticked off and complaining all the time. It sure isn't going to change my SLife any.
  17. Except, as I said before: There was never ever a guarantee that any particular style would be available. Most people probably don't remember this, but we had the same issue when the original Linden Homes first became available. The fantasy themed ones filled really quickly and became unavailable, so people had to choose one of the other themes. Many, many folks were pissed off and come to the forums to rant and rave about it. They said the same thing: "The only reason I became Premium was to get a Hobbit House or Wizard House". However, everyone always forgets the most important point: While a Linden Home is part of your Premium package, nobody promises a specific style!!!
  18. I actually do have some of those. Will have to try and remember that for future such requests. Maybe my really heavy set old lady avi................ in a bikini
  19. Unfortunately, since you've abandoned the plot, the ticket doesn't do you any good anyway now. It is someone's else issue to deal with.
  20. You are allowed to use your own security orb until LL provides theirs. They will provide one that will have a minimum time setting before ejecting someone and it will be limited in some way as to how far above/below it will protect. Since ban lines never went all the way up anyway, I could have always come on to your land above the ban lines and then simply cammed in. There really is no such thing as "total privacy" in SL.
  21. I can't see them putting in a ban line restriction on existing Mainland anytime soon. Existing mainland specifically says there is no covenant, whereas the Linden Homes specifically come with a covenant. As to the old Linden Homes, since those are slated to go away sometime after the full build out of the new homes is complete, I truly doubt they will change the covenant there. Based on the amount of space between the new continent and the continent to the south of it, combined with a previous comment from Patch about "4000 regions for new Linden Homes", I'd say the new continent is far less than 1/2 finished and will be expanding greatly.
  22. Helipad, with helicopter, when it isn't out being flown. And more noisy than a boat when sitting there running. It is a minor view obstruction, but only in that one direction. Hence why I'm ambivalent on my feelings about it. Not sure where you got that. When I said "near me", I meant a few houseboats away from MY HOUSEBOAT.
  23. Unfortunately, even if the web page showed if there were currently homes, by the time you logged in and did the Abandon and got back to the web page, someone else could have nabbed the last one. The only way around it is if LL could give an option on the web page to "change homes" with a notice that it will automatically cause an abandon of the existing property, combined with being able to see if there are some available for the type you want. Then you could click a final OK button and in the background it swaps your ownership.
