  1. 2.7 auto installed on me today, and since it's been on, I've noticed flexi prims moves in stilted jerky fashion now rather than smothly flowing. Really annoying when you've got a tail... :)
  2. Got bored with the ones I used to read. Need new ones. :) Not sure if this question -can- be answered in here since these would be '3rd party' places. Though they're 'articles' and not forums they might still cross the line. So IM me inworld or something with the name of some good ones. Looking for some by people who actively explore / shop / party / socialize inworld and not just 'comment on the technology or policies of the lindens'. - Ie: desire blogs that give me ideas on things to do in SL, rather than make me agree about a list of complaints. :)
  3. You sound like one of my alts... I post this same question once every few months, and have done so since 2009. Not yet found a place that really lived up to it. Always seemed to be cliques of either humans or furries, or even a posted policy against it once I actually hit the recommended places.
  4. Not too particular, but this is on a budget so not seeking something custom made - just want to know if there's one out there available inworld somewhere that I've missed.

  6. Shermerville and Bay City's sims are pretty nice. There are plenty of other nice places in SL - and they tend to have higher land prices as a result, but not always. There's a failry unused sandbox in one of the Shermerville sims. There are also some nice sandboxes in a few furry malls that get a good number of people - but of course people means lag.

Chrome stores passwords in plain text format, even for sites that encrypt them. There's a simple click and display feature in the preference panel of Chrom that will open a window showing ALL current passwords on ALL websites you've been to, in plain text.

Meaning that project is -done-...

  10. I find myself shier in SL than I was when I was newer. A lot of those older friends have gone by the wayside. I spend a lot more time alone in SL than I would like. Back when I started I had the sorts of friends who would just TP in and start bothering me, or vice versa - and just not seeing that so much anymore. It'd be nice to do something about that, but I can't say I'm looking for any male companions (I feel a bit awkward on edge around men - despite my best attempts to get... past my past...). A few out of world extremely negative experiences in a third party SL-board have left me somewhat intimidated inworld in a lot of places I use to go to for socializing - but which I'd been introduced to by people on those third party forums. When I end up in some of these places, I find myself looking around wondering if any of the people there are from that place. A few of them post here, but I guess moderation's gotten good enough now that they've given up on it. I think I'm a healing stage on that though - slowly moving past it. I'd say in this thread itself there seems to have been a few nice gentlement for the original poster Danica to contact and begin exploring a new SL together with. If you feel alone a lot - the only real solution is to get out there and meet some folks. I had a recent thread here looking for some friends myself, and I did get a few replies and have started up some regular chatting. Though some nice people also contacted me to whom I've failed to get with as much as I should have. IM everyone in the thread that looks like they might be a good contact for you - and don't stop bugging them. I do need to take some of my own advice there of course.
  11. Looking for this kind of look: http://blogs.wickedlocal.com/newton/files/2010/10/Car-on-blocks-no-wheels.jpg http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_v9N6Caz_-eo/ScsdrZVZzuI/AAAAAAAAACk/39XFhTDmpGU/s400/red_neck_car.jpg There is one example in marketplace of something like this, but the account of the seller seems to be on hold according to the profile... and the shop listed in his Picks is now a vampire night club owned by I believe unrelated people. So still searching, if anyone has any lower-prim suggestions. :)
  12. Om: I have zero idea where you could get a skin similar to that one, just wanted to say that the one you have right now is seriously impressive, If I wanted the 'old white guy look' for my avatar , the last thing I'd want to do is change away from that skin. If somebody does better than that one I'd be surprised.
  13. The bulk of my shape was made about 3m from the rez point of 2006's orientation island on my original account. BUT... That wasn't really me. I had system hair, a name I pulled out of a hat, no idea what I was doing, and no interest in the platform. I was there because a RL company said to come to its place in SL to get gifts relating to its RL product. Basically I was looking for a coupon of sorts. I'd seen MUSHes in 1991, and IRC that came out of them. Just because this MUSH had pictures didn't seem to make it special to me at the time. And unlike a lot of noobs who are lost in a 3D environment - I was/am a 3D artist, so I spent those first 3 hours not moving from the rez point to make a shape out of 3D art curiosity and came away at the time, soundly unimpressed (took me a while to change my opinion on that - the tools are horrid, but the results are impressive for what SL does). Came back in 2009 when bored one day - and after reading a getting started guide that at that time was already outdated - and started exploring and kitting out an avatar. After the usual blundering through sex shops and 'XXX-camping' poseballs to get what amounted to 3L worth of goods for 3 hours of work... (aren't you noobs glad SL doesn't steer you that way these days?) And at 3L, I'm being generous about the quality of the junk I got... Well after that one of the places had an odd box that said it was for neko parts. I knew what a neko was but didn't know the term neko. I'd always seem myself as a bit of a cat person ever since a child hood encounter at a camp fire that as an adult was I suspect a mountain lion staring at me from just beyond the fire, but at the time came right as I was thinking about my native american roots and wondering what my totemic animal would be if I'd been raised 'in culture' rather than in an inner city ghetto... So I always thought I was a bit of a catgirl. So to my surprise when I opened that box and wore its contents in pure noob 'oops' fashion... Suddenly I was a catgirl. That's when I found me. I went from the image at top left to the one at bottom left over the next day as I suddenly had something to type in 'search' (and let me tell you, back then EVERY location in SL used to term 'neko' in its about land, making it very hard to find anything that actually did relate to nekos... The rest is just refinement on concept. Every couple of days I switch between furry and neko - and every couple of times I land on neko, I end up in a nudist phase that can last a few hours to weeks, then revert to PG somewhere in there when it starts to feel 'weird' or I get tired of failing again in the eternal quest to find a nudist place that has avatars of all types (even those that claim to welcome, tend to end up with a clique of one type that shuns others). ps: One reason I was short then and still short today, by frankenbarbie standards, is that as a 3D artist I eyeballed myself in those first 3 hours in 2006 without reference to other people. I looked at the objects around me, and I looked at the dials, and I interpreted those dials though the eyes of someone used to working in Poser, Vue, Carrara, et all. I still came out at the time at a good 5;11; or so rather than my intended RL height, but I was leagues under everyone around me when I came back and started dealing with other people. Only since about mid-2010 forward have I started noticing more and more people scaling down to and often even past where my height is now.
  14. My fix to the ratings system would be two 'basic' changes: 1. Can't rate an item until 48 hours after purchase. 48 hours is enough to no longer have an excuse for failed delivery, and to have had some time to use the item once delivered. 2. A portion of the screen on marketplace should always show your last 5 unrated items (older than 48 hours), and a little textbox to type in some comment. You should only get the 'stars' option after putting a comment here, or if you go to the regular rating system (which would remain unchanged and allow a rating without a comment). I'm tempted to also suggest no rating an item unless its found in inventory - but to scan this requires the same tech, I would assume, as being able to sell items direct from inventory on marketplace - a feature that is coming which I think will hurt SL and should not be done... leaving me thinking having this scan as well might not be worth its costs.
  15. OMG I actually had an entry on that from a year ago. I think I bought that thing inworld too at one point to make an acorn pet. I'm not sure that list works though - I tried to click on experts list and it kept erroring out.

Willow Danube wrote: They were laughing at You because of your prejudicism against them, they were laughing at the Arabs because they knew if it had been them, they would do the same thing (have you seen any official Buddhist pagoda and temple in Bahrain?), t Buddhist no, because Buddhism never reached the Arab world. Its reached the same places as much of the muslim world, but it never reached into the Arabian penninsula or north Africa. BUT... go through the middle east and all over muslim countries you will find temples and shrines to Drews, Jews, Bahai, Babylonian and Summerian, Christian, Zarathustrian (spelling?), and the big one: the entire freaking nation of Egypt is like a shrine to 'pagan gods' that it is the Arabs themselves who work so hard to preserve in the name of history. And even the Japanese who were alive during the war know what they did in places like Nanking or Korea... they just chose to color a different picture of it after the war and have a culture where you don't question your elders. The Germans of the WWII generation tried to do the same thing, but when their kids got to university they took one look around them and told their parents to shut the [bleep] up with the lies and admit what they'd done. Which is why modern Germany is now so humanitarian and conscious of the need for global human rights - and has monuments all over the place to remembering the holocaust.
  17. Its a good idea when the objects are cluttering abandoned land to also request the land have an auto-return set -and- be set for sale or auction. That way you work towards a solution for the future as well, and not just until the next spammer drops by. The vehicles fly up when they hit a lag spike - especially during a sim crossing. Drive a vehicle you yourself own sometime and you'll experience this. And then you'll find yourself ejected and sent somewhere other than where your vehicle went. And of course it also happens to those automated empty vehicles. On the rights parts of mainland you can find vehicles in mid air about 10-40m off the ground over almost every lot which lacks auto-return. Especially in older sim with residents who have first land that no longer use SL... Most of them are not there on purpose. Rather drivers get ejected by land and are unable to ever find their vehicle. Somewhere in Bay City there's a pink Hello Kitty car with my name on it as owner... and somewhere about 10-40 sims out from Fietzo to the east I think, is a spaceship with my name on it. - I've been waiting to see the spaceship pop into my lost and found folder since 2009... and the Hello Kitty car since last week. All I know is I ended up under a bridge when I lost the car, and I found myself 10 sims away from where the lag hit me and standing on a telephone wire in between two pigeons back in 2009 when the space ship tossed me. I still regret not screenshotting that as it was the most amazing location to just randomly land in...

That usually can fill in a name even if the name no longer exists. We may have zapped that guy for you with a series of ARs yesterday Arbor Patrol got up to when somebody found glowing white boxes all over a few sims, near I should add, some of Prok's land... (in between Prok and another mainland rental person, some abandoned land. And then we found them again on some other sims). Or it could be unrelated but similar looking.

We lobbied for something like this shortly after the Lithium-based new forum was live in early March and it did not fly for the reasons mentioned above. They're a bit select in which owners of adult land they let in though. I've been trying to get into that group since these forums opened, no luck still. I gues its because while I sell a little nude art on my adult plot, most of its G-rated and some of it even dares to be spiritual. I need to get out make me some pron.

LoveAngeL Lyre wrote: After that she must to relog in a protected land like Smith, Lime, Aqua etc --> Opens her inventory --> Types something in search there, and waits fetching ALL her items till the land one. Your sim info might be out of date here. Aqua is a sim full of buildings owned by the usual various people like many other places in SL. I recommend the new water sims to the west of Shermerville - nothing in the but a few plants and fish left by the lindens. And yeah with 4 HUDs going - you should consider yourself lucky to be able to log in at all.
  21. For a full sim? Estate has more controls. Mainland has neighboring sims. I assume you'd be owning that estate and not renting it - in which case chances are Estate serves you better in every way but for the chance of random neighbors in next door sims. Those random neighbors of mainland can be a big plus or a big minus - and you have no control over which. It can change overnight too. Most of the estate manager tools are missing on mainland. Governor Linden gets them - even if you own 100% of the sim and there's not a drop of protected land. For anyone other than a full sim owner I tend to recommend mainland - but you're setting up to be the exception to my usualy recommendation.
  22. Loki Eliot wrote: Well they left, so i guess not very well. Although they may have left because they were perusing greater ideas that they could not do in SL Grid. They left in one of the usual temper tantrums people have over random unwelcome changes by the lindens. And I think you're part right that direct delivery will kill a lot of shops - and by proxy result in a lot more unsold land. LLs will see the money they make on tier drop through the floor when you don't even need a 16m spot with a magic box anymore. There are people who like to shop inworld, but I suspect we're in the minority. When I got active in 2009 I'd always see other people when I went shopping - was a good way to meet people. Of late when I go shopping even to what seem like popular merchant's spots - I see only a few people here and there. The only exceptions being large places that don't use Marketplace like Bare Rose - but even there I see half of what I used to. Marketplace has already dealed a viscious blow to the use of the actual Second Life platform - and removing the ability to need a presence inworld to run a place on Marketplace will just cripple things. You'll start seeing shops from people who don't even have avatars that have ever logged in (especially when Mesh comes along and more of the Renderosity/Daz3D crowd starts selling here). So I think that pretty soon you're just going to accept that people won't spend money inworld. A model based on getting visitors to pay for anything is doomed. LLs wants commerce in SL, but they don't actually want anyone to log into SL, and they don't seem to understand that without a world, there's no reason to buy anything.
  23. I've got a few tickets out for encroachment, and its been something I've filed over a lot in past. And just helped somebody in Arbor Patrol the other day who was suffering an encroachment griefer attack (stacks of glowing megaprim cubes). There's got to be some reason they've never enabled this, but I can't imagine what. Maybe they don't want the nightmare of so many people's homes and shops and gardens getting returned by angry neighbors... But frankly those homes, shops, and gardens need to learn how to read the numbers in object edit anyway... Yes, even your tree belongs on your land. The real problem though I suspect is in sculpties - is it encraochment if no visible part of the sculpty crosses the line? But the invisible bounding box does? - if that's a solid sculpty sure its an easy argument as you can tell where the bounding box is. But if its phantom - the person rezzing it might not even know they're encroaching, nor would the person who's land got encroached.
  24. Hello; Welcome to this insanity. Not everyone's here for 'teh hawt sexxors' - though it can seem like it at times. And we're not all frankenbarbie giants either. Some of us get it that 6' tall does not mean child AV. I do suggest filling out your profile some. You've no details in there and your interests section is blank. See my blog in my sig for some advice on how to make good use of those sections to attract the kinds of people you want to know to you. I'm always looking to meet more people myself, so if anything in my profile sounds interesting, give me an IM and say high - but don't just drop a random friend request on me.
  25. Bay City is mainland - you'd be buying there, not renting; most of the time. But its crazy expensive and not at all a traffic gain to be there. You go there mostly for the double prims and the lower likelihood of junky builds for neighbors. Speaking of which the -only- entry in marketplace for a junked car that's still mostly a car and not a scrap of rusted metal seems to belong to a user who's account was de-activated. So I'm weary buying it. Anyone know of anything like that I can get in SL. I'm looking for that 'car on blocks in the weed covered lawn' effect. Good luck being a realestate company. The SL real estate market's crash makes the real world look like boom times by comparrision. Should we start a different thread for hangout spots then, is this thread not really a hangout thread?
