  1. The shoes and HUDs thing comes from resize-script items being worn - which introduce so much lag to a sim that they can mess up even other people in the sim who are standing there on nake avatars. If in v2 you can get a hint about this by checking script memory of the parcel you're in (if you own it) - but such a problem will occur even if somebody's on a different parcel in the same sim and lagging you. Have you tried entering the name of a sim into the viewer's location field -before- logging in to see if you can log in somewhere new? If that lets you go somewhere new, and you contine to have trouble - you'll at least have isolated the problem to yourself and not your former location. But if it fails, then it could still be either. The suggestion above to reset everything on your network that you have control over is also a good one. The error messages you posted are completely new to me. As a last ditch effort if all else fails you'll be stuck in support ticket land - but if premium you can also try live support and ask for a sim reboot while you're in the sim, hoping it resets yourself as well (the live chat folks lack the knowledge of SL needed to do much more beyond a sim reboot... ).
  2. If you've been in SL long enough you might know this phenomenon: Everbody's grayed out. 3 of them online, that's more that I tend to see. It goes on like that past the scroll bar. And its been like this for ages - with me letting my active friends list dwindle down to just a few people. Too many of my people have left SL. But I'm looking for some living color here. :) Ie: kitty needs new friends. Hoping I can find me some like-enough minded peeps that we can get along and have some fun in SL again. While I'm known for liking reggae and posting a bit of forum drama (and sometimes suffering from foot-in-mouth disease), I also enjoy exploring around in SL, helping newbies with advice, being very much a left wing liberal, having a strong spiritual side, yet also loving to do my share of scanty-clad SL dancing. My usual avenues of finding people consists of a lot of closed down locales - so despite even having a blog to help new people with advice on how to find friends, my tricks are not working as well for me. The shier side of my SL personality has taken root a little more than it should. https://my.secondlife.com/pussycat.catnap My so-called interests SL-wise includes but is not limited to: Building, Christianity, Dancing, Drug Free, Exploring, Furry, Hippie, Jah, Lesbian, Liberal, Native American, Neko, Newbie help, Peace and Love, PG Furry, Politics, Rastafari, Reggae, Roots Reggae, Taoist.(You might have seen some SL nudist posts from me - that's a sometimes thing. When I'm in that mood I'm stuck in that mood, when I'm not in that mood I find I feel uncomfortable around that scene - so since it wavers so much I don't put it in my interests. :) ) If you're looking for friends and I'm not too out there, or even in your sphere of things - drop me an IM sometime. Need to get some color back into that friends list. :)
  3. My USA flag item is no-mod, and my height stick is no mod. - I don't want the one getting marked up improperly, and the other won't be accurate if stretched. I also have a free to copy cross on some of my lots that is no mod for the same reason as the flag. The first time I saw a cross in SL, the person who'd rezzed it had marked it up with all kinds of anti-religious hate speach. I don't want that done with one that has my name on it. Sure people could take any other mod prim out there that I've rezzed and given out and do it, but I don't want to make it trivial for just anyone to do with the object I rezzed to actually be a cross. But for clothing it makes no sense to me for it to be no-mod. I prefer the clothing I buy to be copy/mod/no-trans. But I will settle for no-copy/mod/trans. If I end up with a no-mod item, it tends to linger in the back corner of my inventory mostly unused.
  4. I've cut the price on this one a bit. Presently around 3L/m - its double side water protected and a great hill. Up at about 4071m is where I had a build platform that can show the amount of area the lot has.
  5. DjWhiteBoi wrote: Blah now my stretch is messed up in the edit tool. When you click stretch, it goes blue but the little grey objects don't appear around the hair. And the hair I'm testing is free hair with full perms :smileymad: Shift-Z will sometimes undo edits you've made. Its even undone edits I made in past sessions in SL. And then sometimes it won't undo something I just did that very moment... Cross your fingers and hope it undoes your goofs. In future with anything copy, make a copy and edit that. Since this one was free, consider yourself lucky to have learned on something easily replaceable. Unlike some of us.
  6. Cinnamon Lohner wrote: I tried this and was successful at first and its a great feature. But it seems to be sim dependant. --Cinn Anywhere with a landing point set as required. I'd say the number of people who keep a feature like this on once they discover is is greater than the number who turn it off once they discover it - which advocates for it being on by default. But that's just a guess. The downside is that it reduces the 'in a world' experience - but so does flight and teleport in general, so that's not a significant concern.

Canoro Philipp wrote: it would be very useful if we could have Marketplace search results in it, for the following reasons: Marketplace is unknown for many residents, because usually when people download a software, they rarely come back to the website they download it from. this reduce significantly the number of potential customers for Marketplace merchants, to only the users who come back to the website and have find out about it. The last thing we need is more reasons to kill the inworld experience. So I hope they never do this. We should be pushing the other direction, towards shifting marketplace people back into inworld shopping.
  8. Oh if the theme was to show off the look used in our profiles, lets see what I've got. Albeit taken some months ago. That's the 'AnthroXtacy' Cat, with an outfit from Bare Rose called 'Army Tank' I think. And dreads from Jonah Dreads as always for me. Building of my design. That big black mandala in the background is actually my youtube player.
  9. Fill in the interests section of your profile. Enter each of the interest you mentioned here, but each one as a separate entry (not a comma dileniated list, just one wont then add button, then the next word and add button, and so on). Then search via those and see if it helps you find people or at least places to go to meet people. Oh I think the purpose of this forum in particular -IS- to be a classified. Feel free to IM me inworld if you think any of my listed interests would match you, or just want to chat.

Darrius Gothly wrote: Pussycat Catnap wrote: [snipped mad-kitty babbling] - Neko and furry being just two potential items that tend to get gamed like that to the point of now being valueless in search. > Now THAT I can agree with. There are words, crucial genre-defining keywords that folks abuse. Part of the problem is that fashion and accessories that folks in the Furry and Neko communities identify as "theirs" also happen to be very popular in general on Second Life. Designers and Builders cannot really be faulted for saying their merchandise fits into those categories .. because in most cases it truly does. Proper relevancy would therefore ignore terms like 'Furry' and 'Neko' and 'Elf' unless it was for things like avatar kits / skins, roleplay locations (a fantasy sim for elf for example), or subculture hangouts (like luskwood). - And that takes humans to refine the AI until it learns how to analyze this. (This is why google and yahoo and bing all employ very large teams of human contractors from around the world to go through search engine results in different languages and culture groups and tell the AI how well it performed - feeding the data back into the AI in a never ending cycle so that it keeps getting better and better.)

It occurred to me on my drive to work this morning that I -still- wasn't using the best example. Lets go to 'product X' (because we're in generalizations at this point and specifics just cloud the discussion with annectdotes). Store Y is all about product X and exists on its own lot somewhere. It is one of the more popular makers of X in SL. Store Z sells product X as well, but through a small outlet vendor wall at club XXX. Club XXX has insane traffic because well... its full of 10-15 bots at all hours scripted to dance on poles, greet people, spam gestures while running a DJing a animation, and a few on sexbed poseballs off to the side... You know this place, its the bane of the grid... You've AR'd it 2321 times but it just never seems to go away. Store Z has a miserable selection of product X items. Half of them are copybotted. The other half are from freebie malls. Guess which store shows up better when traffic comes into play?
  12. Eloh Eliot's male skin was pulled off the website back in 2008 or 2009 or so. Is it back up? My first thought when I made some free female skins for African and Native American tones (which for free didn't exist in 2009 in numbers I could find) was that I'd do up a male one too, but I had no template to work with and was not of knowledge to know how to make my own back then.

  14. Liking this new search so far. And this new viewer. Its a -LOT- faster. V2 was already fast, now its even better. Not quite up to MMO speeds, but SL doesn't feel sluggish by comparision to me now. The most interesting thins is when I search on my own name, and use the people tab, some of the people have 'A' rating next to them. I remember people wanting the ability to only show their profile in Adult, so they could have adult profiles. Looks like that's here now.

Any parcel below 1000 m should not even be able to be near the top, unless there are just not alot of results. I see these parcels all over the results. Why? If the parcel is relevant, why does its size matter? We went through this with the alleged parcel size bias, a larger parcel doesn't make it more relevant for any given search. If you are looking for dining rooms it does. A 512 would not have enough prims for one of mine with the food all rezzed. And I have 40+. That just means you need to learn efficient prim management.

  18. Yeah these are probably pretty old signs. They're along the raod in Campion and made by a mole. I've not checked their date though. When you turn off shaders they do look really neat and give you that wow factor of having found the tallest spot in SL mainland. But its been a long time since I ran with shaders off. More or less, since the last time I'd owned a small plot in Campion a year or so ago.

New users haven't been trained to think of it any other way. They see a hyperlink and click it - and don't know to look for a button. Its only old users that have all of the retraining issues.

  22. LoveAngeL Lyre wrote: Hello. I downloaded and installed the Seach Project Viewer. I try it now and i have 2 questions: 1) Why we haven't any mention about the traffic when we search for places? Is it possible to be added this option? I believe that is very useful maybe more than the size of a region or club for example (sq m2). Traffic has not been used by the V2 community for over a year. It only impacts V1 search, which soon won't exist.
  23. Thought we already had a vanity thread?
  24. There's no rule about land that is M suddenly being under G rules anywhere in the ToS that I've found, so I'm not sure why you have that opinion. I regularly hang out at an infohub that had it's sign removed a year ro so ago. Since that time people have assumed that, as marked, it is an M lot.
  25. In my original 512 I managed to fit a garden at ground, a cafe in the sky, a shop above that, and a home above that. All furnished and stocked with my early selection of goods. But if you buy land for a group you own along with an alt of yours (only 1 of you needs to be premium), you get 560m of land and not just 512. I sell a couple of skyboxes designed for 512m lots, and currently live in one of them: Lots of room inside: The two buildings seen below fit to 512m lots are were modified from skybox designs of mine to fit at ground: Those two buildings are presently rezzed in Bay City Truro on my land there. One at ground and the other in the sky - though the lot is larger than 512. The one at top right there was my old home: Could go on with snapshots of my old cafe and garden. But it looks like I didn't keep any of the garden pics until after my lot grew to a 1024.
