  1. Pussycat Catnap wrote: A tier reduction would not help mainland. A lack of good zoning policies ... ....... I do fear it will leave them with a misguided impression that a mainland concept is not desired for a future VR Well thats one reason I like the mainland (the chaotic bits fascinate me) and also why themed clusters exist. As for the impression - what little info exists on the new LL project and practical examples of the grids that are out there point to the sad conclusion that particular ship sailed long ago.
  2. Barely use my flikr account so whoever runs it is no skin off my nose - if whoever takes it over wants to charge then meh. Plently of others out there, even some SL specific (no names no packdrill etc). Or even DA which has the benifit of being its unique self. Really would not bother me but oddly enough on doing a search that led to yahoo answers I got a big splash exhorting me to add a yahoo search toolbar to FF. Got the usual unprintable response but funny that should show up today.
  3. Yes. 'doesn't hold water' would have been a good alternative to the first reactions I had as a response to that answer and wish I had thought of that. (I don't think any of my real ones would have made it through the filters including the ones with any watery content).
  4. Several I expect, heres one but not sure the answer given holds much hope. Unable to leave a review and I receive the following error: "You must purchase the product before you can review it.
  5. Thanks for confirming my observations If it works then yes can deal with the main inv over writing possible confusion. Seems to make sense compared to the previous change password and hope approach, for a given value of sense. Checked to see if I had missed anything, but the olde mailing list (re subscribed just in case my original signup was deactivated) seems to have not been active (or at least archived) for some time and the wiki UG minutes seem a little sparse. Not seen any group notices on either main or Aditi. Hmm, would like to attend the inworld meets but midnight on a friday morning isn't going to happen at least not on a regular basis. Ah well, back to finding things out via trial and much error, always been part of the fun.
  6. You obviously have a bright future in marketing ahead of you young Lady but best to wait until you turn 12 I think.
  7. has there been a recent change regarding inventory on main grid versus beta grid? while i realise a certain ongoing synch issue, right now I am seeing inv items that only exist (payload tests well I am old fashioned) appearing in Beta that only exist in Main. Overlayed on Beta Inv.... did I miss a change? Right now, I am not seeing the old wipe Beta inv behaviour but I worry a teeny bit that this may happen. Thats fine, I can test elsewhere after all =^^= BTW, not interested in a JIRA that will get snowed under as this is a general question but any pointers welcome.
  8. For rotating the halo object, try llTargetOmega, very useful little thing. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LlTargetOmega
  9. Heres a fun place to start, media on a prim, as it were http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Category:Shared_Media
  10. "...created and marketed toward children and teenagers aged 8–18..." and seems its closing its 'currency' too. So which bit of the SL market is it after? Also love the bit about not being anything to do with err plastic building block toy companies (I used to work for one).
  11. Neither Ok, more seriously, mix of PC and Ubuntu (in whatever variants are my flavours of the month, currently studio and mint 17). Win 10 finally cured me of single OS reliance.

    Mesh bug alert

Thanks for the reminder, had sort of forgotten this particular nasty. Wish we could 'sticky' this but will suffice to tape a note to keyboard i guess
  13. You would just have to ask the creator on a case by case basis. I know of some who are happy to have their items used this way and others that already have multi grid presence so you can source what you need on site, could even offer to make it worth their while to set up the availability for you on a one off basis. All depends on the individual case.
  14. See earlier in this forum also jira ('they are on ot') at https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-11481?
  15. A quick search seems to indicate you are referring to an article of the Brazilian penal code concerning fraud. Now while it would be entertaining to watch if this ever went to court, I think you may be out of luck.
  16. Person: ' I rilly liek your (thing) bt could yu do (custom job)' Me: ' Yes, no prob, whats your time frame?' Person: 'liek, now LOL' Me: ' Well OK, whats your budget?' Person: 'budget??LOL´ Block, mute, rinse and repeat. As in no comment needed (Actual conversation, only the idiocy and details redacted)
  17. Interesting really. Like many tales, there is more than one date given as the 'birth' of Unix time, 'canon' as it were. Unlike religious nonsense and myth, of course, they are based on facts. Plus epoch is a great word and it comes with a predictable 0xhhhhhhhh 'end days' to boot(strap).
  18. Have to admit, LumberJack...oops YArd certainly made me sit up. Who knew cloud might have a use =^^= And cheap too...
  19. Callum Meriman wrote: We are not the target market and we will watch SL wither for another 10 years as a whole new group of people write games for the masses over in Sansar. First yep 'we' probably are not, as for the rest (both wither and do stuff there) why not plan on both as well as all sorts of other places
  20. Since you posted originally, I have been road testing a couple of viewers (Kokua and Alchemy) and found AL has been on approx 80% of the time (mostly because it defaulted on when they installed). Still tend to dial it down for certain situations bur definitely in use more - and also as have started to make more use of materials myself.
  21. I heartily recommend anyone who builds in SL (not just landscapes either) to take a look as it really does show what can be achieved using the resources and tools we have. As one of those with a poor lil' box (creaky 7 yr old win7 32bit 2 gig ram and yay a gt 610) even cranked up to 256 dd on ALR the rez was - instant The homage to olde fashioned prim building alone is worth it - and I fully intend to shamelessly make use of a couple of techniques in my own stuff as they fell in to the 'of course why did I not see that before' category. Educational:) And keep off the grass =^^= Go see this, and if this is 'self promotion' then we need a lot more.
  22. OK So Toronto has too Many Pseudo Whattnot Whatevers - Discuss
  23. A simple google of 'Guide to building in second life' would do as a start .. Sorted to the last year even turns up a destination guide link to the Ivory Tower, complete with sandbox and all free. Here, easy Search Results Not exactly sure what you are on about regarding the 'design software'. Ever actually rezzed a prim?
  24. There is a David Bowie av in SL (last seen 2010 ish) and even a Ziggy Stardust so sure Plus the Bowie vw is alive and kicking =^^= Well, when I say kicking....
