  1. Now I am tempted to resurrect a few viewers from the past to see what they could produce. Wondering if they would survive an xml/oxp transfer too.
  2. Seen these in various viewers over the years and never been sure anyone else would see them, And had Ayumis blog bits on standby book mark for yonks =^^=
  3. You forgot 'Swivel Eyed Loon' and now 'Corbynista' if we are listing the tribes =^^=
  4. Depends on what you actually mean by 'puncture' but a trip to the Ivory Tower on Natoma is always a good step to see possibilities. Or blender
  5. Its still basically a vehicle and thought of several ways to do it but ' use NPC characters ' is interesting. These NPCS would be - animated meshies? Had to scratch initial ideas as was about roping in 4 serfs as you can dictate what body they wear =^^= Do you have a model of which you wish scripted? I make erm tracked stuff but the principle is the same - sort of. At walking/trotting/panic speed
  6. Well, it depends on what exacly you want to host There are cheap and cheerful options - if the amount of info/data needed is small (and either not needed 24hrs or you can spare a seperate home box) then self hosting is a place to start at least when developing (no ip springs to mind with one of the setup LAMP/WAMP packages or something a bit more up to date off top of my head) Web wise, theres loads of free for moderate use to play around with. If it takes off then you need a plan to migrate to something with more oomph - whole other story.
  7. Aethelwine wrote: Your analogy is daft..., they have to mark the boundaries of their land with things like fences or walls. Parcel boundaries come pre marked in the viewer - very easy to not run over them (ok so I do have the odd mishap when trundling around the roads of mainland but then expect to be booted with alacrity). Barring accidents, or a mistimed curve, badly behaving experimental driving code etc, I do not cross them. Easy =^^=
  8. Was made aware of the sim closing a few weeks ago via a group notice and made a point to take a wander round before the close date. Memories.. You are right, 'flat textures' still have a major place in making stuff even today - we don't all do clothes But yes my visits dropped off and of the one place I would actually be heading for - well they moved a little while back. Sad but things change. Places go.
  9. the 'tacit psychic admission' is an indicator of someone with homework to fill at minimal effort.
  10. Yes. The photo of Kim Phúc has been etched into my mind since... well '72 i guess and to say it made a personal impact well... Powerful is not the word. We are roughly the same age. That being said : when you sign on to fb you agree to the T and Cs, same as anywhere. They clearly state (among other things) the company position on allowed images. By the letter, this picture breaks those conditions. End of. Complete with lawyerese: " “While we recognize that this photo is iconic, it’s difficult to create a distinction between allowing a photograph of a nude child in one instance and not others,” a spokesman for Facebook said in response to queries from the Guardian. " Many of us here know the context of that particular picture. Does not change much. Before anyone suggests I am supporting censorship, I would like to point out that censorship is traditionally a governmental prerogative/abuse (delete according to your view) rather than a corporate one. But (from same source as quote) the survey suggesting that '(Pew Research Center), 44% of US adults get their news on Facebook". Interesting to match that to z's recent canning of human curation.
  11. I would box a bit clever if I was you:) Knowing how the borders of Linden protected land tend to be a little complex and looking at the other typical roadside plants in your shot you may in fact be the one encroaching there
  12. Well in theory I guess the available hardware could be spread thin to meet your wishes but then again thats the beauty of choice with grids is it not? After all, you can get your 40k+ prim sims right now if you like - and join, oh lets pull a figure out of the others perhaps the main known alternative, the other 93 people currently online Isn't choice wonderful.
  13. Not exactly secret and not all that hard to find either, simple search turned up a good dozen or so complete with fee structures etc. Some are by invite so you probably won't see that quite so easily but overall - yep, info dead easy to track down.
  14. Its 'con' but I forgive you for voting Tory. Not a lot of people I ever said that to either. =^^=
  15. Well on your first 'I read somewhere that you can never tell if someone has blocked you on here or not. ' yes on the viewer I run, if I wish to do so. They will know but hey. They were not worth it in the first place. The others, not so sure:) But - unblock and make a habit of not responding. That way you know and they never will know. You still have the power to not respond. Their idiocy becomes entertainment. Good luck.
  16. Fascinating:) We have the OP who is partnered to someone who states 'I like invadin peeps houses.' https://my.secondlife.com/mouselook.scrabblebat And a reponder who doesn't understand that they can't, in general, just pick up others stuff that they take a fancy to. https://community.secondlife.com/t5/General-Discussion-Forum/How-do-I-pick-up-objects/m-p/3018250 Good stuff =^^=
  17. "Server limitations are a poor excuse in 2016..." I think the practicality of this as well as the cost has been covered pretty well. Which leads us to; "... and so is privacy". Just : no.
  18. Yes I wondered about the jira too but testing it between two accounts located on different sims showed nowhere near that level of delay. And this was on a 5 second timer (no patience for a whole 10 =^^= ). Tried all the privacy combos I could think of too but made no diff. Even the bit where someone on list chooses to not show as on to you. Possibly a viewer related glitch? Tested on sing and kokua.
  19. Not solely a US thing by any means. Best bet? Training a generation or two to be totally dependant on externalities (medical/entertainment/distraction/your choice) in order to have any semblance of 'functionng'. I blame the iPhone (ducks)
  20. Its too late. Embrace the Tempeh mwuhahahahahah (slice thin, douse with soy sause, deep fry and you will never ever return). Did I mention Samosas? Talk about a 'THING'
  21. Technically, it does but as there is a limited number of fridge lights available, the act of opening the door collapses one instance to your location, making it 'locked'. Theory has it that simultaneous opening of all extant fridge doors will lead to total collapse of the 'white goods' waveform resulting in much wailing and lamentation etc. And tofu. Possibly.
  22. Because its a nice example of the architecture? Heres another not too far away too. (From wiki)
