Do You Think the Original Barbie Looks Like Lucy?
Lyssa Greymoon replied to FairreLilette's topic in General Discussion Forum
Yeah, she kinda does. I also want magic color changing dishes. If they'll change outside the dishwasher. -
Apple's peripherals are just the worst. There's no reason I'm aware of that anyone can't use a Magic Mouse or Keyboard on a PC. I just don't know anyone who has ever wanted to.

Firestorm's limit on the texture buffer is variable and depends on your card's total video memory. -

Recommended System Requirements 2019
Lyssa Greymoon replied to AdamZadig's topic in General Second Life Tech Discussion
More speed with higher settings. Yes, practically any GPU made in the last decade can run SL, and let you turn on all the eye candy for snapshots. What they won't do is provide a very enjoyable experience if you want to do much more. Even framing the snapshot can be a hassle. Want to run shadows all the time? Attend events with a bunch of people and not watch a slide show? Film a video? You'll probably want something more powerful that can deliver faster frame rates consistently. For a whole lot of SL activities, a fairly modest system that can deliver ~15fps with some of the graphics settings dialed down will do just fine, though. -
Maybe not if you plan on changing your career path.

I learned that in a video about Comic Sans, the best font in the universe.

I got around to watching Linus's video. That 20fps on Tomb Raider was with $15,000 of Nvidia Quadros driving the display. I get the feeling it'll be a while before I make the jump to 8K gaming. -

I'll bet the viewer's 512MB texture memory limit really helps there. -

Those guys are extra desperate with a double shot of stupid. All LZ pouncers are. Insincere d-bags who give the same line to everyone just... I hate those guys. They deserve whatever they get. -

Gotta be honest, if someone opens on my ugly '09 looking avatar with that, I'm going to think they're either desperate or stupid. -
SL vs System Requirements
Lyssa Greymoon replied to cykarushb's topic in General Second Life Tech Discussion
I'm less concerned about people deciding they don't want sexy thin MacBooks with luscious Retina displays than Apple will break OpenGL. The responses from LL I've seen here about the OpenGL depreciation sound a lot like Apple hasn't been updating OpenGL for the last ten years anyway so we're going to hope it keeps working until everyone moves to Sansar and we don't have to worry about Mac support anymore. -
Starting SL behind an RDP connection
Lyssa Greymoon replied to Clifton Howlett's topic in Second Life Viewer
I think it's because RDP uses its own display driver instead of the Nvidia driver. I don't think you're getting around that. -
That's not what retaliation lawsuit means. It's a suit over retaliation by the employer over complaints of harassment or discrimination.

Last Names Still No ETA
Lyssa Greymoon replied to Daniel Voyager's topic in General Discussion Forum
What do they need to do except modify a little code at the registration portal? Code they already have. Last names were working for years in third party registration portals, and I suspect they would still be working today if LL hadn’t shut them down when they discovered people were still using them. -
It’s probably not a problem with your stuff, but your inventory is jacked. There are some tips here: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Inventory_loss and here: https://wiki.firestormviewer.org/fs_missing_inventory there is also a method that involves clearing your cache, logging into the beta grid, waiting for your inventory to fully load and then logging back into the main grid. Someone who knows more about this can explain it better than I can, maybe they’ll read this thread and help you with that.

What, doesn't everyone who needs to go AFK before the wife can see what they're doing in haunted yiff mansion, open their landmarks, and find one that looked like a good place to go AFK the last time they were there, three years ago, teleport there and instantly minimize the viewer? That doesn't sound totally legit?

What are some of your pet peeves?
Lyssa Greymoon replied to Ivy Mysterious's topic in General Discussion Forum
Do it to him. Find some of the most excruciatingly unpleasant things in SL and every time he contacts you instantly teleport him straight into one. Terrible karaoke, wiredo poetry slams, furry orgies, hang around the vilest voice enables infohubs, wander aimlessly around the cornfield for hours talking nonsense about anything. Make his Second Life a living hell. -
