  1. Good news for Fantasserians and anyone else who shares my obsession with twigs and fairy lights: tarte have a 50% sale until the 30th, including outlet items from L$25.
  2. Yeah, but I very much doubt there will be enough to overwhelm support, particularly since requests per avatar are limited. There will inevitably be PP+ subscribers who choose to stay in 1024's, just as there are Premiums who have chosen to remain in 512's, having used their spare tier elsewhere or just being change-averse. It mostly depends on the speed of the roll-out, but LL have enough experience launching new themes by now that they ought to be able to strike some kind of balance between people auto-refreshing day and night and having entire continents half-empty. They know what's popular and what isn't, they can make better predictions than we can about how much demand there is actually going to be, and they can plan accordingly.
  3. LL know perfectly well that when they do unveil the 2048s, most premium plus members won't care (they already have their own private regions and homesteads) and the remainder will want to know why they couldn't just have a double-primmed Victorian instead. Meanwhile, it's better to refund a handful of unhappy customers than to rush through something that nobody will be happy with.
  4. Obvious way to open up tons of new namespace: retire 'Resident' and replace with a new default surname, something equally bland like 'Citizen' or 'Avatar' or 'Metaversian', keeping 'Resident' as a paid option for those who don't like last names. Yeah, ideally they'd go back to free last names for everyone, but I imagine they want to preserve their new-ish revenue stream.
  5. 'Completion' and 'release' are very different things, and, given that people who invested in PP solely for the 2048 Linden homes have already been offered some form of refund/compensation in this very thread, it's probably safe to say that the latter is some way off. They may well want to finish building out all the existing themes first, or even shut down the old homes to free up resources. SL20B is a major project in itself, so while we might get a reveal then, I wouldn't hold my breath for a release.
  6. I have the persephone; it's a skinny body with a pregnancy belly and minimal clothing support. There is no point getting it unless you're roleplaying a Zooby pregnancy. In my experience Erika fattens up more realistically than Freya, which has a more pronounced waist, but as others have pointed out Freya is much easier to dress. I'd avoid June as it's old, unsupported, and the creator apparently made it for lolz.
  7. By the sound of it they're recording on Thursday, releasing on Friday.
  8. If you come across an avatar or product which you think is violating the ToS, then the correct thing to do is file an abuse report. If it turns out not to be violating the ToS, nothing is stopping you from blocking that avatar or refusing to buy the product in question because it conflicts with your personal moral code. If you're trying to get some kind of pedohunt together, you came to the wrong forum. You're looking for the one with the postcards of unreadable text
  9. Yeah, Blueberry is more like the Gap or Old Navy of SL than the Gucci or Chanel. I'm really not enough of a fashionista to tell you where to find the latter, though I might start the search with Baiastice, Giz Seorn, maybe ISON? Similar price point to Blueberry, but definitely more couture-ish in terms of branding: If this is what you meant (and even if it isn't) I second the suggestion to head for Seraphim. The more directional/editorial stuff will generally get an event release, and you can preview everything on their site lag-free.
  10. Again, I think there's a general reluctance to encourage the continued use of sculpties. Plenty of heavily-discounted third-party stuff still on Marketplace, though, if you're that determined to avoid mesh. Which is a major reason why LL are getting rid of them; texture changing is done via an obsolete external server which they'd like to shut down already, so those scripts aren't going to work even if they give you the build. You'd have to insert your own texture-changing scripts, even assuming the homes were moddable. Honestly, at this point I think LL would prefer to consign them to history entirely; but if they're going to claim eminent domain over parcels that have been inhabited for over 13 years then, yeah, a handful of heritage sims and a few freebies doesn't seem too much to ask by way of compensation. OK, so they've already spent the past three years doling out entire lovely new continents of compensation, but there hasn't been a whole lot for sculpty aficionados in there. (I'd actually love to know whether any v.1 homes have been held since day 1, since it seems to me that early adopters gonna early adopt, and also 13 years is a loooong time.)
  11. You know the textures are still available at the infohubs for each theme, right? You could probably knock together a Meadowbrook or Tahoe clone with those and some basic building skills; but I wouldn't bank on the Lindens encouraging people to bung vintage 100+li prim houses into the skies of Bellisseria, because mesh exists now. I'm all for keeping a few sims of older homes around for history buffs and those who wish they still lived in 2009, but I do think they need to remain in their original landscaping for that to work. (Naturally I would also fill these showhomes with pre-mesh furniture, and when I say 'fill', I mean 'install a bed, a sofa, some poseballs and a profile picture on the wall.')
  12. They're probably waiting till the new welcome areas are finished to launch the new avatars, and when I made my last alt a few weeks back they didn't look especially close to being done. I'd be surprised if anything happened before Easter.
  13. Yes; grab the free Genus and wear it around while you're demoing other heads, kind of like a practice head to familiarise yourself with HUDs and animations and stuff. Be aware that older AK heads (the ones with numbers rather than names) are not EvoX compatible. I got caught out last time they were on sale.
  14. LL has become a lot more proactive about reclaiming such land over the past year or so, so if any of the parcels the OP wants are group-owned it would be worth putting in a ticket. I do know of one parcel owned by an absent individual eventually being acquired by a neighbour, so it's not as if it never happens. Yes, some people leave and never cancel their tier payments, but sometimes there's just a lag between their departure and the payments stopping. If they're not paying for it any more, they can't bank on hanging on to it indefinitely.
  15. Well, when the Vics first came out it was the same people claiming the most desirable spots over and over, so PP doesn't really change anything, it just streamlines the process. Most of them know each other / are alts of each other so if somebody else gets the parcel they wanted it's usually no big deal. Everyone else can either cross their fingers that previously desirable Vics will be getting abandoned in quest of the new shiny, or wait for them all to decamp to 2024s in the summer (or whenever).
  16. Ideally they'd supplement it with written material as well as the videos. I'm someone who learns better from text, so when I was a noob I read every SL blog I could find and learned from there, rather than looking for inworld classes or mentors. Basic prim building, freebie sources, places to explore... I got all that stuff from blogs. I also feel group chats, rather than specific locations, are the natural home of communities. Welcome areas need group join boards as much as landmarks.
  17. Premiums, as a rule, don't care too much about grubbing for L$ because they're already getting stipend and can buy extra whenever they need it (one of many reasons why the Realms are moribund). In addition, many people have multiple premium alts for landowning/Bellisseria purposes, and few are going to run around giving free L$ to randoms when they can give it to themselves. Downrating is obviously undesirable, but without it you have no effective mechanism to stop every group on the grid being spammed by beggars. If you need a financial incentive for people to gather in one place, bring back camping and sploders, and kick people if they go afk or gesture-spam instead of making small talk.
  18. I get my hats from Poison Rouge when they do the Shop'n'Hop free credit, and sometimes Belle Epoque have them in the weekly sales. The Row House (on MP and inworld) do lovely 20s-era cloches, but their prices are a little high for me.
  19. oooh! what if they brought the OLD realms back for premium users (as I suggested approximately four million years ago)? payouts were better, monsters were less annoying, it was less glitchy in general, and you didn't have to keep re-doing the quests. That might tempt me to keep my premium alt.
  20. I fully expect those who are running bots to support making this data available to us, as part of the information-sharing enterprise they are engaged in
  21. Makes sense since you can no longer cash out without payment info anyway.
  22. My reading of it is that Lindens consider payment details, email addresses and other RL info submitted upon registration to be 'personal information'. This is not available to other users or bots unless there is a serious data breach, and if that were to happen they would be obliged to inform all vulnerable customers as soon as it was discovered. They do not, apparently, consider your account status, location info, or anything you post in your profile to be 'personal information', and so it is fair game for anyone to republish and redistribute as they wish. If you were naive enough to think that the '1st life' tab was intended for RL info... nope, that is not the case. Since profile info is now searchable, I would strongly recommend removing any information that identifies you as a member of any marginalised groups in RL or SL, and/or restricting your IMs to friends-only. Opting out of one specific site is not a solution as it does nothing to prevent copycat sites springing up, as they surely will now this kind of data-gathering is explicitly permitted by LL.
  23. How is it harassment? She just said she's fine with her pics being reused anywhere. If I stole your profile pic, you might have a case. But I'm not going to because you haven't said it's OK. See how it works?
  24. I know it doesn't bug you, you already made that clear. Point is, some people care where their stuff gets republished even if you don't.
  25. Cool, just grabbing your profile pic for myself then. Guess you shouldn't have shared it.
