  1. AO movements seem to prevent Away Timeouts from registering. I'm presuming that you have included turning off your AO? However, I've found that my avatar still makes little movements now and again. I've never really found out why this happens. Maybe even those little movements are preventing the timeout from working as expected? I'm tempted to run some further tests on these sorts of things as the failure of the timeouts can be, at least, disappointing.
  2. It isn't a proper rice pud unless it is served with its thick skin on top (which has to be carefully cut into equal pieces to avoid un-civil war breaking out between the kids). ETA - and a grating of nutmeg, of course!
  3. Here's a peeve. (This was a "peeves" thread wasn't it?) Worcestershire Sauce has not received a single mention so far. Its the one essential ingredient that fixes almost anything savoury that "mmm..........needs something".
  4. I would never intentionally enter someone else's property unless I had an invitation to do so. I would expect others to adopt the same sort of principle - just as we would in RL. Things do go wrong in SL though, and its not that unusual to find that, for example, a temporary lag spike sends you into private grounds. It is extremely annoying to be immediately hit by a hair-trigger security system before you have a chance to back out. If you're travelling in a vehicle, boat or plane, the entire trip can be completely ruined by being ejected home. Being banned is totally pointless - I had no intention of going in there in the first place. Banning is for persistent offenders, not accidental strayers. Because I know how annoying instant security hits are, I refuse to use them on my own home, and I'm very happy to live under Bellisseria rules (which deal with malicious intrusions perfectly well). If I'm at home and somebody intrudes, I can invite them to stay and chat, or leave, depending on circumstances. I would prefer to get a greeting from outside first though. If they get awkward when asked to leave, the eject works just fine. If I'm not at home, I just don't care. Cheeky as it is, they can't do any harm to me.
  5. The uninitiated tend to wack Marmite on in similar fashion to spreading peanut butter on; the experience doesn't end well. Only hardcore fans can get away with this! A thin smear per bites-worth of toast is plenty. Having said that, there is NO grey area with Marmite! You either love it madly or hate it intensely. (Just for the record, I'm a lover. I have every respect for the haters though!)
  6. I just knew it...... the trend has caught on.... @Alwin Alcott has a lot to answer for! (Advance apologies to Alwin - no offence meant!)
  7. @Blairbuu - That is an unusual expression in English - " ...played SL With this Video card before 2 months". Does that mean that you have successfully played with it 2 months ago, or does it mean you played SL with for 2 months sometime in the past? The NVidia GeForce 6200 LE card is something like 15 years old, and does not support DirectX 11 or 12. With only 64MB of memory, it will struggle, if it works at all. Hopefully, somebody with better knowledge of this card will pop up soon and tell us more.
  8. I'm impressed! I can even make out the little bit of staging I added to my Windlass Houseboat to make a pedestrian-access mooring. The angled views are a nice extra too. Nice work, @animats!
  9. The nearest I can think of is "arse about face", generally meaning backwards or anything done the wrong way round.
  10. I've got a feeling that somewhere, in the not so distant past, I've read that traffic calculation might be a bit more complicated than that, Unfortunately, I can't find any other references to it at the moment. Maybe I'm mistaken; perhaps someone else knows if there has been changes since that article was written? The situation regarding bots is mentioned in the link I posted. Bots are perfectly acceptable for reasonable uses. Abuses, e.g. to simply increase traffic, is not acceptable and "overuse will result in further action". I suspect it would take an Abuse Report to trigger any further action.
  11. Have a look at this, its the only information I'm aware of:- http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Traffic
  12. Thanks, Ayela - I have to accept fully your point about he practical issues a creator faces when dealing with oddments like the nipples problem you outlined. I admit that I wasn't thinking at all along those sort of lines, despite having several items myself that need the nipples dealing with. I was thinking more on the lines of having to alpha out a substantial portion of body to prevent breaking. Its good that you've raised the creator's problems with these sort of issues though; it is easy not to see things from their perspective. You must bear in mind that I was clearly responding in regard of @Solar Legion's comments - forgive me if nipples weren't exactly foremost. The mention of the "more realistic shape" prompted me to make comment about pushing the provided shape beyond a reasonable amount, too, but before Solar comes back gunning for me, I was in no way suggesting that was fault in this case. Let's not also forget the effect some AOs and animations have - avatar movements and positions that would defeat even the most skillful creators. Back to my opening sentence, I think - if you expect perfection, you're living in cloud-cuckoo-land!
  13. @KT Kingsley - I'd been more used to the term "liveware" to describe the factor that is the bit that is most likely to go wrong! I'd guessed you meant humans and was quite amused!
  14. I have never understood the intrigues of fitted/rigged mesh but, as a user of these items, I have come to realise that things never turn out perfectly. This is Second Life, after all, and if perfection is expected, you're living in cloud-cuckoo-land! Having said that, I'm with @Solar Legion on this - if a creator says its fits "Xbody", it should fit, without recourse to trickery like manually or auto-applied alphas. However, I'm also acutely aware that that "fit" will have been designed around the offered shape that was supplied with the body. The mesh of the clothing will deform to maintain that fit, as you alter the provided shape to suit your personal taste, but only within certain limits. When you alter things too far, the fit starts to fail dramatically. I'm still trying to get my head round the issue of when a bit of my breasts breaks through clothing, often the solution is to make them bigger, not smaller! Maybe one day I'll figure this all out.
  15. I just cannot believe the gall of some people, but there it is, right in front of me, in black and white (full glorious technicolour, actually!). Some people!!
  16. Hi @Leti Hax, Hopefully, support will help you out. Don't forget though that there is the Technical Forum, with sections for SL Web, SL Server, SL Viewer and SL Tech General Discussion. There's a number of whizz-kids that are very active in those sections and will willingly suggest remedies that might solve your problem very quickly. (Always remember to supply everything from your viewer's Help - About [viewer name] page so that they will have something to work with. You can easily copy and paste that page into your post.)
  17. @Mollymews is right, but there is something you can do in Firestorm, but it will only affect your own avatar on your screen. Others will see the animations playing as normal. Go to the Developer menu → Avatar → Animation Speed Here you can speed up or slow down the animation in 10% increments. I've never had time to play with this much, and don't know if successive 10% increments will continue to speed up/slow down more and more. Have a play and see if this helps! Extra Info: I couldn't resist trying this out a bit more! The good news is twofold; successive increments DO continue to speed up/slow down more and more, and, as expected, it works for both avatars dancing on a couples dance - on your screen only, don't forget! Its such a shame that you keep having to go through the menu tree every time you make an adjustment - it gets really tedious, if not downright annoying!
  18. Just a quick point to add here - when @PhilGalaxi copied the Help-About information, it looks as if the viewer was running but not logged-in. If you are also logged in, that information will include Packets Lost, and I suspect that that figure might have shown the problem up immediately. That would rely on PhilGalaxi being able to remain logged-in long enough to get that information, of course!
  19. I guess you've been contacted by a guy that's heard that "SL is nothing but sex, sex, sex....". I find it intensely annoying to be IM-ed out of the blue , when shopping in-world, , especially from someone who is nowhere in sight even, with a corny come-on. Sadly, there's a few out there who just don't understand SL at all.
  20. In the pharmacy again - Customer, to girl in overalls; "Can you recommend a good product for sanitizing my kitchen surfaces?" Girl; "Ammonia cleaner." Customer; "Oh - I'm so sorry. I thought you were on the staff."
  21. I'm only using paper plates since I was told the virus came from china.
  22. Granted, but now you have to wear a British Standards certified G-string all the time in order that your guitar stays perfectly tuned. You start to suffer from draughtyitis.... I wish I could get some more sleep today.
  23. Then indeed you shall! Now you have only good news - a.k.a. no news, and you can live in blissful ignorance for ever. I wish the fruit blossom that's popping up right now doesn't get killed by the frosts we've been having over the last few days.
  24. Thanks @animats. That was very nicely presented and has definitely caught my interest. It'll be good to see where you can go with this.
