  1. Its the same for a lot of applications in RL, too. If only creators would get a few people that have never done it before and ask them to try it out and comment. Then they'd find out for sure if their latest clever-dick idea really was as clever as they thought! It would be very helpful if the correct way to open items was stated a bit more clearly. Given the several different ways that can be encountered these days, just (Wear) isn't always very informative, and we never "wear" anything to avoid mucking our outfit up (we "add" instead). I know there isn't room for lengthy instructions in a boxed item's name, but short descriptions like "Rez and open", "Add and open", "Just add" etc might help?
  2. TPVs that meet with Linden Labs approval are shown here :- http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Third_Party_Viewer_Directory Please, please, please do not use an unapproved viewer! There might be some nasty risks to your inworld money, to say the least. Everyone has their own opinion about TPVs, but FS is a very popular choice, and can be obtained (free) from :- https://www.firestormviewer.org/ Good luck in your struggle!!
  3. That item will definitely require RLV to be enabled; only then will its functions work. I don't know if the standard Second Life viewer offers that facility now - it don't think it does - so a TPV (third party viewer) might be needed instead. I use a TPV, Firestorm. RLV still has to be manually selected; it is not active by default. Once FS (everyone abbreviates Firestorm to FS) is up and running and you are logged in, use the top bar menu and go to Avatar -> Preferences -> Firestorm -> Allow Remote Scripted Viewer Controls (RLVa). Check that box, then relog. RLV will now remain operable unless you reverse that process. Incidentally, RLV can be used for a whole range of useful functions, apart from the ones in mind here!
  4. No thanks - I think I'll stick with the devilled kidneys....
  5. I don't think I can, either! I will bow gracefully out of this particular diversion (providing we don't kick off on split infinitives!!).
  6. It was only a matter of time before this would result in the use of capitalis monumentalis. Although generally frowned upon, I fear it was overdue!
  7. I think that's a good'un. It might even be good enough to avoid us Brits from having a Meaningful Vote to decide what the next Meaningful Vote will be! Vote: Aye 👍
  8. I've woken up again...... How about "Photo 4-Room"?
  9. mm..... maybe its time to go back to the drawing board. I think I've flogged that line as far as it will go. Second Me? No, I don't need support at the moment, thank you! SL I'm Me? Ugh! Yep! Dead in the water, as they say. 😞
  10. That's crafty! Unfortunately, far too crafty for all the people still eating potato's and tomato's. (Thanks, Skell, for chucking that one in in a little earlier!)
  11. Oh dear, we have strayed off topic just a bit! Thanks for bringing us back on target, Cheri. I've recently noticed that there is a parallel universe between SL working correctly, and SL working incorrectly. Has anybody else noticed this? /me ducks rapidly
  12. And there's me thinking that I'd bought a really good translator 😬
  13. I picked that one up after I posted, as so often is the way! My derivative, EsselMe, or maybe (like "You!" magazine) just "SL Me!", would be more acceptable?
  14. Its such a shame that fashion passed that look by...... 🙄
  15. Sure! Its funny that the franks (and Willies, Todgers and Percys) always seem to survive the crash and rez ok, though?
  16. Oh dear! And being dumped on the heads of all the dozo avatars that are still on the Landing Point holds you in a nice elevated position so that everyone can see what a mess you're in! A bit of crowd surfing to move away is something you don't often get the chance to do, though!
  17. As a general precaution, when logging back in after any sort of crash, its a really good idea to reset your "Start at.." position to your home (or a pretty deserted place). That way, you avoid reappearing in front of everyone in various states of weirdness or even nudity! A nice quiet sim that's running well is a much better place to put things back together, too. Unless, of course, you relish the risk. In which case, hey-ho! Have fun 😃
  18. I like "Vague". That's a clever touch. I'd thought of "Smee" (its me), and that led my brain on to the purely invented word "Esselmee" (SL-Me). As far as I know, Smee only means a type of duck - nothing rude!
  19. Thanks! That's fine; that's how all my Outfits folders are set up. However, the mesh body (and head) links all point back to a single item in the appropriate "master" folder. In the case of my mesh body, that's a plain, nude body. But those links could easily point back to different versions of the body - a nude one, one with a T and jeans applied, one with applied lingerie, etc., as appropriate. I think that is the sort of scheme that you were talking about in your post. By the way, I didn't even know about the "very old school" methods! Thanks for the info 😉.
  20. I often use applied clothing under a mesh item - for example, a T-shirt (applied) under a jacket (mesh). If a copy of my mesh body is saved with every outfit, with the clothing applied to it, then dressing by using "replace current outfit" should swap bodies instead of adding another? I'll test that out later. And, yes, Blueberry are good for stipulating, on quite a few of their items, that, "This can be worn with [item name]". Its really quite annoying to see a nice coat, only to find that its impossible to wear on top of anything without stuff sticking through!
  21. Ah well... such is (second) life.... We can but try!
  22. That's awful! But I had to giggle.....
  23. I've turned off the sky rendering, then spent a few minutes grid-hopping by TPs - no problems so far.
  24. I've had several of exactly the same thing - tp goes to freeze - long wait - eventual "You have been logged out...", and was still getting them after 27/Mar/19 2:28 PM SLT (when the bug report says resolved). I'm in the UK, using FS 6.0.2.56680. 0% packet loss but ping always around 170ms to the US: Internet connection is 36Mbps down/ 9 Mbps up: i7-8750H/GTX 1070. TP crashes had become very much of a thing of the past for me. Suddenly, recently, they've come back with a vengeance. The last one I had was around 01:00 SLT 30 Mar 19. One thing is for sure: it aint "resolved"! (TP crashes have occurred at various places around the grid and don't seem to be confined to any particular areas).
  25. A month has passed since you asked, Sandra, and we still don't know what type of feet you use. Perhaps you have found what you are looking for? If you're using the original "system" feet, I would strongly recommend you buy mesh feet replacements, such as Slink feet, or perhaps even put your hand deep in your purse and buy a complete mesh body. You will find a much wider selection of better looking shoes.
