It's really rather sad how the market works these days. The days of proper free market competition seem to be over both in RL and SL. There are products that are just so dominant that no one else can get a look in. Catwa comes from the era of free market competition, but the arrival of EvoX eclipsed it. Tell me where I can get a cell phone that isn't made by Crapple and running IOS or something paying Alphablot to run Android? Yes there are niche players, you can even get a Linux phone, but market share 0.0...1%, and profitability zilch. I'm really sorry Catwa didn't jump on the EvoX bandwagon. Look what happened to Slink. But this is the same everywhere, freedom is over folks.

No one mentions it, but Lucybody have a couple of mesh heads at 500L$. I already have several EvoX Lelutka heads that I like so I have not bought one, but the demos looked okay.

Thanks @Rowan Amore, I did check the Status page, but, as usual, LL is a bit (pronounced 'extremely') slow on that. It arrived in the end, so all's well.

I bought something on MP for an alt, it was quicker than giving it some money (or so I thought). 3 hours later it has not arrived. It's from a reputable seller with a thriving in-world business. How long is reasonable to wait before starting to complain. The L$ has gone from my account, and shows in my transactions.

Interesting! Am I right in saying that by using a defomer on Maitreya one can get a more curvy shape for a short avatar and still have all the clothes fit? It's the 2000 outfits for Maitreya that stop me even contemplating moving body!

A word of advice. Always keep L$1 in your account. That way you can get the freebies that need you to pay L$1 and get a refund with the item.

Thank you all for this thread, I have never encountered the problem that @Coffee Pancakeraised, but if I did I would be just as incensed. I just added a few extra rules to my shopping. When I go to 'events' it is always to buy a specific thing that the vendor is debuting at the event, AND has a non-event demo for. I land, I cam to the vendor, buy the item, TP out. So events, so far, are fine for me. Now, if the demo was not accurate, say for instance, it contained a hud that wasn't in the purchased item, that would be the last time I bought from that vendor. And I would probably write a notecard telling them why, and kept to remind me. Commerce in a laissez-faire economy is a learning process, if you don't learn you will get badly burned. Those of us brought up in semi-socialist economies (UK, in my case) don't have the learned-responses that Americans have, I'm afraid. The EU keeps trying to dumb-down the population by trying to ban caveat-emptor, it will not work in the Big Wide World (just like in SL).

Learning any programming language is a great investment in time. Just thank God it isn't the 1960, and the only alternatives were COBOL and FORTRAN....

I use Firestom over ProtonVPN. My system in Archlinux, and my broadband tests out at about 60Mbps with the VPN, and 62Mbps without it (6xHTTPS). Every time I log in I have to go through a little dance: Log-in attempt 1: So then I hit OK, and try again: and so then I hit Quit, and try a 3rd time: and I am always in. Everything works, the lag is just as incredibly bad as it is without the VPN, but no worse. Any ideas as to why this is happening? Any suggestions to diagnose it? Edit: I should add I get straight in if I turn the VPN off, and always have done.

I tried the C&C, didn't like it much, couldn't get the boobs down to reasonable size (my current motto is 'no Petite, no sale'). It's so sad, all that work for nothing. I can understand how Siddean felt.

I learned so much from Siddean's work. I still keep all my Slink Physique stuff, because it is still the shape I am looking for. And I still think a fully BoM body is the right answer. But, people move on, and I wish Siddean well.

Here's the problem: If you do anything construed as ***** in SL you get tossed out on your ear, you and all your alts, and LL take all your money and you loose everything you may have spent 10 years building. This is a GOOD policy because no one (except sickos) want to encourage ***** abuse. Note there is nothing in the policy about height. The problem for people who run events or own venues is how to make sure they are not caught up in that. So they make daft (but easy to script) rules, like all avatars must be over 1.61 metre's (5'3") tall, or some other arbitrary number. Sorry to say - that's life. I keep a special 1.62m tall shape, just for a place I like to go to that has such a daft rule. The rest of the time I am 1.55m just like RL.

There is a free program that combines two shapes exported as XML files. There is a group of sims called 'Naked' that is a nudist colony. If you join the group you can set home there. You save a lot on clothes too.

I have an opinion on this, but it is only my opinion. I think avatars with excessively fat butts or mega-boobs are pig ugly - you can call them 'curvy' if you like. This doesn't mean they aren't fun though, and, yeah, they seem to pull the guys. So I am definitely in the 1.62 m (5'3") high Lara Petite, with a skin that has a few blemishes and wrinkles, camp. Just like me...

It all depends on the 'target' person. Some people just want a quick fix, and just refuse to try and understand - they will never be happy in SL, so I don't waste my time. But it's true that SL is a very complicated place to be creative in, so some people who are genuinely trying to understand can be helped by judicious guidance. Actually, teaching people who want to learn will teach you a lot too.

You don't want to know what I plan to drive in Belli..... Let's just say, don't plant trees in front.
