  1. Affirmative. I was going to the other day, but I said hi, tabbed out and forgot, and when I tabbed back in you'd already gone!
  2. May have been when I made my first alt then ... Or when I first signed up ... Meh. Yesterday, a few years ago, I really can't tell much difference. Still go 'Twenty!' when people ask my age, before it dawns upon me that it's just that 20 was the last birthday that sort of mattered for anything. It has occasionally been almost immediately been followed up by me going 'No wait, what year is it again?'.
  3. My, oh my. You realize that projecting an emotional defeat onto those who argue against you when you're losing an argument is a form of self-deception, and if anything else, merely a petty attempt of invoking an emotional counter-argument in a feeble bid to redirect the focus of the discussion from logos to pathos, because you're aware of the fact that you've already lost that battle. I have better things to do with my time than to argue with people with inclinations of such a juvenile rhetoric, so I'll slip back into the backseat; content with the knowledge that the legislative sphere will move along without any hindrance from the likes of yourself.
  4. That is your feeling. Repeating it is pretty pointless as you've already made it known, and that it isn't an actual argument. That you choose to repeat yourself, using an argument based on emotion rather than any sort of fact, when having plenty of sources of what is happening in terms of actual legislation, is a sign that you simply don't have a proper retort.
  5. Hm, isn't there? I can't remember what exactly went down when I made my last alt as I was in a bit of a hurry to just get her in-world before the Maitreya sale ended, but I do have a vague memory of having an avatar picker shoved at me either at the website on signup or the first time I logged in ... Either that or I just opened it myself immediately because wish-they-were-dogs in handbags are practically no better than cats.
  6. Yes, that is sort of the definition of gambling, IMO. SL already has that, in a way, with skill gaming regions - so, maybe gachas may end up the same way if legislation is put into place.
  7. It really is difficult to define 'what a lootbox is' because it's up to each and every nation and lawmaker to make their own definitions. That gacha is or isn't a lootbox in Holland doesn't mean that it is or isn't a lootbox in Belgium or Liechtenstein.
  8. What about the Robot Internet Overlords?
  9. So, there's a trick to putting stuff outside of your parcel that's quite commonly used for stuff like driveways for Bellesiera homes and parcels connected to SL roads - rez the thing you want to extrude beyond your parcel, rez a prim cube, link the two with the prim cube as the root, edit linked and deselect the prim cube, move your stuff where you want it. Since the cube is the root prim, and it's entirely within an area you have rez rights ... It works. It may be that he did that. Or that he did something else. There's more than one loophole, I'm sure. It may well just have been lag. Rezzing objects frequently take a while before they become visible. This often causes me some trouble as I'm a bit too impatient to sit around to see whether they'll appear or not, so I try again, and again, and suddenly 3 copies of the object appears! I think, but I'm not certain, that more complex objects may take longer to 'load in', and if they were 64-LI builds and the region already has a lot of stuff in it, it's very possible that it was still just loading on your end. I know you can monitor your texture loading queue with a keybind that I can't remember off the top of my head (I think .. F3 is in there ..?), I'm not sure if there's any similar tool for looking at whether there are any objects that are trying to be rendered ... That'd be useful. Yes, you can rez stuff from an altitude. I can rez objects in my Linden Home from my photo platform - which is just over 2,000 meters in the sky. Camming there 'manually' is a bit of a pain though - I ended chucking one of my alts into my house so I could quick-cam to them from the radar; so if there were people around the ground, you can cam to them and pop things up around them, or move your camera from there. Also if you're hunting a griefer, using the radar can be a quick and easy way to spot them. It's the 'People' tab from your quick-buttons, open it and just double-click on a person's name in the list, and the camera snaps to them (you can also right-click them to choose teleporting to them).
  10. Almost raw. Just a touch of blur and noise. And prodding at a spot of borked hair-shoulder collision.
  11. Disclaimer: I'm in no way, shape or form affiliated with, sponsored by, in cahoots with, blackmailed by, courting the daughter of one of the CEOs of, or otherwise influenced or persuaded by the company behind the app - all I want is an URL to throw at people when they go 'HOW DID YOU DO THAT?!?'. It's not always you want to open up your snapshot tool in world, especially not if you've left the snapshot settings rather high and you want to catch something on the fly. It could also be that you just want to take a quick image of a certain portion of your screen, or that you want to capture a gif to show things moving. I use both functions fairly extensively, especially when I want to ask for input on an outfit I'm trying on from friends via Discord, or if I want to show someone how to do something within SL - and people frequently ask me 'How did you do that?!'. So, here's how to use the Gyazo desktop application. First, you'll need to download the app from Gyazo's website. It's free to use, and though it'll tell you that you can't use more than 10 images/gifs without logging in, I personally never bothered to do that - so creating an account is optional, but probably advisable if you wish to access your backlog without skimming through your browser history. Once the app is installed, it's good to go, but if you want to set up the key shortcuts (some do contest certain default keybinds both in FS and BDW) you can open the app to open the settings page. Here you can also change some other things, like whether it should play a sound when capturing, or if the browser tab should open automatically when it's finished uploading it. The app has 3 types of capture: images, gifs, and replays. In addition, you can either do fullscreen or use the selector for what to capture. Personally I only ever really use the selector - should I want a fullscreen snapshot I'll just hit the screenshot key - and should I want fullscreen video ... ... Well, I don't know, that hasn't occurred yet? But I do have better programs for video recording than this app; it's not ideal for shooting HD machinimas with! To capture a snapshot, hit Ctrl + Shift + C (or whatever you've changed the keybind to!). Your cursor will change to a crosshair; use your mouse to click, drag and drop, marking which section of your screen to capture. The image will be immediately uploaded to Gyazo by default. To capture a gif, instead hit Ctrl + Shift + G (or whatever you've changed the keybin to!). This works just the same way, except you'll have 3 buttons at the bottom of the selection window. The middle button is record/pause, the left button is to exit and delete the capture (whilst paused), and the right button is to upload the capture. Additionally you can, once you've hit Ctrl + Shift C/G, instead of left-click and drag, right-click to bring up the menu. From here you can change capture mode, access your settings, or simply cancel the action. Keep in mind though, this is not a high-resolution capture. If you want to record proper videos or do SL photography, there are better tools for the job. A gif capture can be no longer than 7 seconds and it will record no audio, and the resolution may occasionally bring 90's video game definition to mind. Example uses: Detail of before / after fixing an animation-borked shoulder in Gimp. Poking your SL daughter about cute animesh animals to have her go 'ermagerwd uwu' (or something along those lines). Showing your friends how awesome this hair is for being able to be tied up with an animation. Capturing a gif of an MP4 because uploading stuff to embed is a bother when you could just press Ctrl + Shift + G and have it upload to an embedable gif by itself. ... Doing the Macarena ... ... Or Gangnam Style ... Well. There it is.
  12. But this thread has all to do with your personal disputes? Thou shan't toss beavers in log cabins, et cetera.
  13. The thread is from a year ago, it's not certain they're still hiring.
  14. Curiosity and creativity. Socialising, photography, role play, etc. That I enjoy being in SL. Occasionally, but more often than not, it's because I want to do something that I can't do right then. There's hardly ever a time of day that there aren't people or places in Second Life that could cure boredom. Besides, I don't think SL necessarily has to be 100% entertaining at all times, it can be educational or otherwise beneficial. It gives me access to a broader selection of people than my RL surroundings do, and allows me more control in choosing when and how to socialise with them. It's mostly niche stuff for me, allowing system layers to have materials would be huge as BOM is pushing out appliers. Having the alpha glitches fixed would be great. Having a better skeleton to accommodate actually moving and posing your avatar without it borking up would be awesome.
  15. Ooh, let me try, let me, let me ..! Ooh, it likes Mina. Wait, what do you mean, 'plastic'?! Mmhm, 'halloween', 'spooky', 'dark' .. It's doing a pretty good job of figuring out what's in the picture at least, it seems. ... .. Plastic, pfft. Black hair doesn't seem to detract too much from the score. Hm, do I have any pics of Neph with red hair laying around ... Oh, oh dear. How about .. Maybe .. Yeah, no. Wait, toy? Toy soldier? Wh-- Hrmpf.
  16. I return the mischievous look, 'cause if she gave me food poisoning, I don't envy her for what I'm about to do to the restaurant's facilities.
  17. No, no - don't set her off on the course of how dinkies are better for the environment again!* *t'is a joke.
  18. Hm, I'd suggest having a peek at your transaction history on your dashboard to see where the last transactions went to. Other than that I don't think there's a whole lot to do, unless it turns out someone has somehow managed to steal your L$ which would warrant an AR.
  19. No, really. Have you? I hadn't noticed! But you're totally right, let's all look like prim potatoes to accommodate poorly designed teacups. It's not like anyone gives a damn about how their avatar looks anyway, I'm sure if LL enforced dinkie avatars only, SL would be absolutely booming.
  20. Are you honestly suggesting that you think that you know better than I do, because our opinions on gachas differ? Get off your high horse and pull your head out of your ****. Perhaps you just need to realise that people shop differently than you do, Fairre. So you don't even play gachas yourself. You go pick up the pieces left behind after countless people who show clear signs of gambling addictions, trying to cut their losses in a market so flooded with the off-set colours that don't appeal to them (or anyone else, aside from people with equally poor taste as yourself), that they'll often go for a fraction of what it cost to pull the lever. Yet you have the audacity to compare it with gumball machines as if it's all innocent fun. Yes, I'm pitting opposites against opposites; for most people gachas aren't a threat to their economical stability, but it absolutely has the potential, just the same way lootboxes do. And it there's potential for disaster, it will happen, or rather continue to happen - I know a handful of people who left SL because the price of having a virtual life was too high, and gachas was almost without fail a part of the reason. But hey, as long as Fairre can build cheap tea rooms with the draw weight to fell an ox, right?
  21. Yes .. The movement blur in mine reminds me of older film ghosts .. I may have to exploit that. Ah. I couldn't figure out how to make an embeddable upload of an mp4 without using YouTube, and that felt like a bother. The Gyazo desktop ap is awesome for capturing quick gifs and snaps when you only want to capture a portion of your screen!
