  1. If you're not prepared to accept that items can be lost due to technical glitches then I have two things to say; 1) You didn't read the TOS that you are automatically bound by as soon as you log in. 2) You need to stop buying no-copy things in SL. Because there WILL be glitches and you WILL lose things. It happens to everyone. What everyone else does is file support tickets. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. If it doesn't, c'est la vie. Another thing you can try is contact the sellers of the items you lost and (politely) request re-delivery.
  2. Here's an excerpt from a notecard I wrote for newbies a while back... There are events you can attend, clubs, places to make friends, learn about SL, learn a language, learn photography, listen to live music or poetry, participate in games, go dancing, go shopping, go fishing, go skydiving, go scuba-diving, fly a helicopter, fly a seaplane, ride a motorbike, ride horses, breed horses, have sex, have a wedding, be an alien, be an animal, be an elf, be a vampire, be goth, be punk, be steampunk, be ordinary, make friends, make clothes, make toys, make believe... ...and that's just the beginning.
  3. Sunday 9 Feb, 1pm-3pm SLT DJ Sword is back again for his now-regular slot at Club Noir. Join us for classic vintage Jazz and Swing with a distinctly French flavour. Dresscode: formal and/or vintage preferred. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Badger/15/150/752
  4. Inventory database maintenance, which has been going on for the last couple of days. All sorts of things go missing during maintenance and usually they re-appear when it's finished. If the missing items stay missing, your best recourse is to contact the creator/seller and ask (politely) for a re-delivery. Show them the transaction in your transaction history https://secondlife.com/my/account/transactions.php?lang=en-US to prove you purchased it. It's worth keeping a copy of your transaction history every month; it's only saves the last 30 days on the website.
  5. Are you using SL's "Outfits" feature to switch avis? If so, did you remember to include the jaw piece in the outfit folder? If your inventory says that you are wearing the jaw but you still can't see it, try right-clicking where the jaw should be. Sometimes prims don't show until you click on them.
  6. Subby Cerise wrote: Another option is to buy a tattoo layer (e.g. suntan) that will let you add more color, but at the expense of losing some detail. If you're skilled with photoshop or gimp you can easily make one of these yourself. Make a flat white texture (white so it's tinatble in SL) in your editor of choice, and set it to about 75% transparency. Make an alpha channel for it. Save as a png and upload to SL. In SL, create a new tattoo layer (right-click your "Body Parts" folder in Inventory and select "New Clothing" . "Tattoo" and apply this texture to all three areas - head, upper body and lower body. Wear the new tattoo layer and tint it according to your preference. If the 75% is too subtle you can make it more opaque, but remember the more opaque it is, the more detail you will lose.
  7. If you made the artwork yourself, they will be still in your inventory anyway. Ditto if you bought it and its copyable. In which case, simply rez another. If you bought it, and it's no-copy, contact the seller, provide them with a list of the transactions for the purchases, and ask for re-delivery. You can find your transaction history here: https://secondlife.com/my/account/transactions.php?lang=en-US If the art involved a breach of copyright (for example copies of RL artworks not in public domain) they may have been removed by Linden Lab following a DMCA notice.
  8. Some winflight settings look better than others with Advanced Lighting turned on. Go to World > Enviromnent Editor > Sky presets > New Sky Preset. Give your new preset a name that you'll remember. Click the Lighting tab Click the "Ambient" box and play with the colours - you'll want to choose a lighter one than you have already. You can also raise Scene Gamma to lighten the overall view. Once you're happy with the level of brightness, tick the box "Make this my new sky preset" and Save. Next time, you can just select your new preset from the dropdown menu in World > Environment Editor > Environment Settings. One of the big advantages of raising the Ambient light is it negates the need to wear a facelight. But contrarywise, if you enable shadows as well, you'll want to lower the ambient light and raise the sun/moon light.
  9. If it's a sculpt it will have only one face. If it's mesh it may have one or more.
  10. They are probably swamped with thousands of people submitting their applications at once, and knowing Linden Lab they probably have one member of staff dealing with it for like, two hours a day inbetween dealing with all the other stuff that would have been done by other staff members, if they had any left.
  11. Check your keyboard. The Page Down key might be sticking.
  12. I think that's what it all comes down to, and it will stay that way until there is an easier way for the average user to make their own mesh clothing. And I think it's really sad. There's much less individuality than there used to be.
  13. Hi Bella. I participated in your survey and I thought it was good, however I am disappointed that there wasn't any space to write comments. For instance, in the RL section I indicated that I am mostly unhappy with my RL body but I was not able to explain why - and it has nothing to do with my body weight or shape. Had you offered more options than just "male/female" for RL gender, the reasons would become clearer Also - completely impossible to estimate how much time or money I've spent on my appearance in SL. Those were totally wild guesses. Except for shape, which I know to be L$0 because I make my own.
  14. My gender identity was challenged LONG before I joined SL, but certain people I met in SL gave me the courage I needed to make it real and physical in my RL. I don't think I'd have done it as quickly, or even at all, without SL. Also I am probably the only person in the world who changed their legal RL name (first name only) to match their avatar's name as part of the RL transition process.
  15. Sunday 26 January 1pm-3pm SLT DJ Bea is back at Club Noir to entertain us again with more vintage swing and big band sounds of the 1940s. Come and join us and our friends in this romantic film-noir style setting, to dance or just to relax and enjoy the music. Hope to see you there! Dresscode: vintage and/or formal requested please. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Badger/15/150/752
  16. If you're not seeing the same thing in another viewer, it's likely something has got corrupted with your Singularity installation. Have you tried uninstalling (clean uninstall) and reinstalling it again?
  17. Large breasts look attractive only when the rest of the body is large to match them. On a stick-thin porn star with a tiny waist they look terrible but the same size breasts on a curvy size 16 or 18 look perfect.

Coby Foden wrote: • There is a laptop on the side table even though the avatar does not know how to use it In my SL house I have a laptop, for which I mocked up a texture; a screenshot of the SL viewer with a RL photograph in it, and the view of the back of a man's head. My SL avatar plays RL in his spare time.
  19. Back in about 2009 I saw a guy in RL who looked exactly like the freebie "Cory" skin that was doing the rounds at the time (the one that was available from Sarah Nerd's, with the round tattoo on the stomach). I totally wanted to tell him to buy a better skin, everyone could tell it was a freebie.
  20. I pay more attention to the way I look and less to the tirades of people telling me how I should look. I am 6'5" (short, by most standards) and I change my outfit pretty much every time I log in. But I don't look like the "classic" good looking dark-haired tanned muscular guys you see all over the grid. And that is entirely intentional. The entire outfit below is a free group gift from To Be Unique.
  21. Those effects are so subtle I need a magnifying glass to see them. I think I'll wait for "I'm 40-something".
  22. There is a weekly SL Photography class at Caledon University. It covers everything from the basics to post-processing. I've been a couple of times and I learned a lot.
  23. Okay. I opened a club in SL just under a year ago, and although my club isn;t a sex club, here's some of the things that have worked for me and can easily be used for your club too. 1) Get your venue listed in Search. It's not, right now, which means no-one will ever find your club in the Search listings. It costs only L$30 a week for this. If you rent the land you will need to come to an arrangement with your landlord to pay him/her the extra L$120 a month. 2) Events. Hold them regularly and advertise them in the in-world events listings and forums. Hire a DJ and, if you're not good at hosting, hire a host as well. Although really, being a host isn't rocket science; Give a personal greeting to everyone who comes in. Tell them they look nice/sexy/whatever Keep conversation going - if local chat goes silent, say something. Don't use gestures - it puts people off Offer group invites Thank everyone for attending as they leave and let them know when the next event will be 3) Be there, as much as you can, either on your own or with friends. I tp'd in and found the place empty. 4) Your default stream is playing 80s pop, but I think jazz would suit the ambience and decor better. Nice interior decor, by the way. It reminds me of a bar in my hometown. 5) You have a couples danceball but no singles one. You'll need both. 6) As has already said, you need a group-joiner near the entrance. 7) You need a sign to say that there are playrooms upstairs, and point the way. There's no indication at present that they even exist and the stairs are hidden. Hiring staff and advertising costs money and there is no way around this. If you do not have a source of funding to invest in the club month after month, it will not survive.
  24. It totally depends how often you play it. Your monthly bandwidth allocation is used up by time, not the size of the game. If you play SL for only a couple of hours a week you'll still be fine. If you play for hours at a time, you'll use it up in a few days. The more you teleport around to busy places, the more bandwidth you'll use because every time you go somewhere new, more data is streamed to your computer. If you have voice, music or media turned on you'll use more because you're streaming that too. Cache and program size uses up your hard-disk space and is nothing to do with bandwidth.

Do you have any suggestions as to what topic of issue i'm experiencing, because none of the selections I am given match my issue thanks guys x As I said, you'll have to go premium to find the right category. Basic accounts don't have the right to ask for support on most topics (except payment and logging-in issues).
