  1. Okay that's just totally gross. The guy clearly has some significant mental health issues.
  2. CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 240 Processor (2812.68 MHz) Memory: 4095 MB OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 64-bit Service Pack 1 (Build 7601) Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation Graphics Card: GeForce GT 520/PCIe/SSE2 Power supply - no idea how to find that out. Ping - no idea how to find that either, but I'm on fibreoptic broadband usually around 21-22mb/s download speed. Wired, not wireless. I usually run in medium-high settings without advanced lighting and I get around 30-40 fps in a quiet sim. With advanced lighting/shadows on, fps drops to about 10, and I can't run depth-of-field at all.
  3. It always used to be amusing to see male avatars appear "Ruthed"; with their usual skin, clothes and beard but the Ruth shape. Plenty of blackmail-worthy snapshots arose from that.
  4. In this particular case it's the fit around the hips and thighs that's the issue. The skirt is simply too small. And your avatar doesn't look in any way too large, so I'm inclined to think that either the garments are wrongly labelled or they're just badly made. Perhaps you could try asking the maker for the avatar size numbers she uses to fit them?
  5. If even the XL size is too small then you will need to edit your shape in certain areas. Bodyfat, belly, saddlebags, lovehandles; make them all zero. You may also need to reduce butt size, torso and/or leg muscle a little as well. Other sliders like body thickness and hip width do not affect mesh as they stretch the avatar's "skeleton" so the mesh will stretch with you.
  6. The simplest solution is to make every user's first post moderated. Of course this will never happen, it's too much effort for the Lab.
  7. I find it tends to be the same areas on or off, with a few exceptions. Tyra's Peak, Devil's Canyon - always on Whisper Hollow - mostly still on except for the northern coast near Res Circle 6, which is always off now. The north-east quarter (apart from the coast) is usually the best. Sunspire and Shattered Caverns - always off The area in front of the Portal Workshop - usually off now Dark Moon Bay? Not sure, I don't go there often but last time I did, a couple of days ago, it was on. Banshee Peak - usually off, but again it was on a few days ago. I usually stick to running Tyrah's Peak (both sims) and over the wooden bridge to north-east Whisper Hollow, and back.
  8. I have noticed this bug too. I have also discovered that when it starts happenning, if you teleport back to the portal park and enter a new instance (or even the same one again) the counting re-starts. It won't give you the crystals that weren't counted before though.
  9. The clouds only appear if you're caught flying or moving too fast (faster than normal running speed). The quests are broken anyway and that's nothing to do with the clouds.
  10. Try to take note of whether the lag happens only when facing a certain direction. If so, you can bet your bottom dollar that the area you're looking at is full of (usually un-necessary) 1024x1024 textures and sculpt-maps. If it is variable you may be looking at too many avatars wearing too many of those textures.

Left out of that announcement was also the statement, "In the event of legal or other issues it makes it easier for us to know who the heck you are." Sadly, although this only effects new merchants at the moment, I would non be surprised if we hear an out cry from some non U.S. people. Though it is rare, there are some who despite trying to jump through every conceivable loop hole to get POIF, they have never been able to get a "verified" account. I have one such friend. Still, I do applaud LL's action if it reigns in some of the problems there have been. I think its good that it only applies to new accounts. This leaves existing genuine, non-thieving merchants safe to continue their business as usual even if they can't put PIOF. What it will do though, is prevent the situation where an account gets banned for having a store full of stolen goods, and promptly returns the next day with a feesh new anonymous alt selling the same merchandise. I forsee a purge of dodgy resellers in the near future.

Like the sailboat textured and named "la rie qui vache", getting around the trademark on the cheeseproduct called "la vache qui rie", or motorcycles called Darley Havidson. Trademarks only apply to similar products. A sailboat and a motorbike are different enough that it probably wouldn't breach trademark laws. It's to do with preventing product confusion. You can't invent a drink and call it Pepsi, but you can invent a new tech gadget and call it Pepsi, if you want to.
  13. Not Xcite compatible but we have a nice bed from Bazar that has sleeping under the blankets, and the animations are all pretty good. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/BAZAR-Toronto-Bedroom-set-ADULT/5230288 This is ours but there are other designs there too.
  14. I don't think they just send the gifts to you automatically. You have to go to the kiosks to collect them.
  15. If people don't want anyone else to look at them why do they even go to public places at all? Its like going to a bar and freaking out because someone offerd you a drink. Hey if you don't want to be looked at, make an avatar that's a ginger-haired beardy bloke. Nobody ever pays attention to me
  16. It sometimes seems to me that the majority of people just whack the height slider up to 100 just to make sure that no-one else is taller than them. My avatar is 6'4" and male. Nearly all other men, and most women, tower above me. But I don't care.
  17. I have always been human and always the same overall look right from day one; a guy with long-ish rather scruffy ginger hair and beard. I'm sadly not ginger in RL (more like mousey-brown and grey) but if I could be, I would in a heartbeat. My avatar has been upgraded over the years but my overall look remains basically the same. I actually cannot bear to change the look of my main avatar; if I want to make something different, I make an alt. Here's me in my first week, in 2008: 2011: and now:
  18. I am very fond of my tattoos. It's all based on a feng Huang (Chinese Phoenix) which is a symbol of personal significance to me. (Please disregard the old hair. This pic was taken in 2009)
  19. I don't visit here very often (I'm ususlly on that other forum, you know, the hive-mind of vipers) but I popped in today and I have noticed that McAffee is blocking many of the ads that run above and to the right of the forums, saying that they are linking to suspicious or dangerous sites. I'm not about to un-block them to find out WHICH ads are getting blocked. Strangely, most of the not-blocked ads are for other virtual worlds and MMOs. That's like... Ford showing ads for Chevrolet on their website. Way to go, Linden Lab. The Fail is strong in this one.
  20. I drove myself near-insane trying to do that three years in a row. On the fourth attempt (2010) I made it, but only by booking two and a half weeks vacation from work during November. It's a crazy time of year for me. Never again. Never.

  22. The pods are still running. I saw one float past my house (in Badger) just yesterday. They're not as bad as AnnMarie's automated vehicles though, they never stray off the road and end up stuck on my land. I hope they're gone for good.
  23. I find it much more profitable to earn money in RL and use it to purchase L$. Working in SL for 50p an hour doesn't seem like a fair wage to me.
  24. Mesh clothing from FATEwear is all mod so it's tintable.
