  1. My oldest av is 7 years and 6 months and I only keep it for the L$500 a week stipend I get on Premium. My main one (this one) is 5 years 5 months.

Please continue exploring the map while we look into the cause. Thank you for your patience! any ideas? That error tends to appear when the place you're trying to teleport to has disappeared, or is offline, or if the grid is having issues.
  3. Frawmusl wrote: lolwut You should have a copy in your inventory before you're ever able to put it on the ground anyway... True, but the copy in your inventory won't have whatever changes you made to texturing etc whilst it was rezzed.
  4. Owners of a sim can ban who they want for whatever reason they want. The Community Guidelines say that they cannot use anti-gay hate speech but banning someone doesn't fall under hate speech. Honestly it's not surprising that a Gorean group is homophobic. Have you ever read those books? I've never seen a worse collection of sexist macho patricrchal drivel in my entire life. You'd be much better off finding a non-Gorean fantasy sim to roleplay in.
  5. This sounds like your inventory is corrupted - only a support ticket with Linden Lab will be able to fix it. You might have to go premium for a month to submit one for this, if you're not premium already.
  6. It sounds like Firefox has connected SL map links to a viewer you are no longer using. To fix this, go to Firefox Options > Appliations. Look down the list for "secondlife". Select it, then change the dropdown on the right hand side to "Always ask". Next time you open a map link, you'll get a popup asking you to select the program to use; select your current SL viewer. You might want to leave "Remember my choice" unchecked, especially if you use more than one viewer or you change your viewer often
  7. Because you have requested participants the way it should be done, I have filled in your survey. Good luck with your research.
  8. In 2009 a close friend in SL gave me the courage to do what I needed to do to get my life in order. I will forever be grateful for that. More trivially, my Photoshop skills have increased exponentially and I am also much more conscious of my own personal style (clothing and appearance-wise) than I was before SL.
  9. Club Noir is fully inclusive and we often have gay and lesbian couples visiting. Homophobia is absolutely not tolerated in my club.
  10. When I first started, for about a week I didn't realise you could teleport to places. I spent a lot of time walking and flying around the mainland near the welcome area where I started. The first time someone gave me a landmark and explained what it was for I was like.. "woah!"
  11. Copy the entry line from your transaction history for the transaction. Paste into a notecard or IM to the person who sold the skinpack and ask, politely, for a redelivery. Allow a week or so for a response; not everyone logs in daily.

  13. Interesting thesis (I have downloaded it to read offline), and congratulations, Doctor! :matte-motes-grin:
  14. The sim where I have my home is four sims away, and connected by road, to Braunworth Welcome area, which is the same welcome area I landed at when I first came off Help Island. The grid is smaller than you think, sometimes.
  15. I usually cruise at about 30 or so. beyond that, I can't really tell the difference.
  16. When I googled my name, the first entry I got was an ad for glow-in-the-dark paint. Even Google can't spell. To answer the OP though, I think there are some celebrities within SL. The "sex man" you couldn't remember the name of is Stroker Serpentine, creator of the Sex-Gen engine. There's also Chip Midnight, Cristiano Midnight (no relation), Marianne McCann, Torley, Qarl, Steller Sunshine, Sarah Nerd, Amy Weber, Yadni Monde, Teeny Leviathan, Cubey Terra, Desmond Shang. Even Prokofy is a celebrity, in an infamous kind of way.

  18. Lots of people play an avatar that's different from their own RL gender. Personally I find it just as tedious and difficult trying to pretend to be female in SL as it was trying to do the same thing in RL. The only people who are really bothered are the ones looking for something to fap to (and are too homophobic to risk the chance that they might accidentally fap to someone with the same RL gender as their own).
  19. Linden Lab won't take action on this. They'll just tell you to set your profile to accept messages from friends only.

Sonja Smedley wrote: Oh If I had so much money I would have different ideas.... * Open a club and become a DJ or hire them...also dancers and hosts...I would love to have my own little club just for fun not for making money, cause I know it is a hard business als club owner...:-) My partner and I opened a little jazz/swing club a while back and it's great fun. I swore for years that I would never "work" or run a business in SL but I love it. We don't have "contests" at our events and we do our own hosting so our only ongoing expenses are land rent and paying the DJs, I guess the biggest investment was the dances for the intan. We don't make a profit most weeks, but I don't really care about that. My priority is having fun and making sure our guests have fun too. But you don't really need a massive amount of money to run a club. Now if I was wealthy enough, our club would be part of a whole 1940s-era roleplaying sim...

Secondly..I thought there was no gambling allowed in SL due to this: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Policy_Regarding_Wagering_in_Second_Life Skill-based games are still allowed, that's how games like Zyngo get round the ban. As for what to do wih the money, I would suggest learning some scripting and building skills, and invent your own games.
  22. Yes, it's a scam. The only way they can sell at below market price and still make a profit is by purchasing them with stolen credit cards.
  23. Two good places to try that usually have people active in local chat, NCI (New Citizens Incorporated) at Kuula, and the Shelter at Isabel. There's always people there willing to help newbies. The Blarney Stone is also a nice chatty venue. You won;t make "2-3 friends per login". Making friends isn;t about how many names you can get on your list. It works in SL the way it works in RL, not the way it works on Facebook. Do you make 2-3 new friends every day in the real world? No, of course not. You make one friend at a time, by gradually getting to know them over a period of time. It's exactly the same in SL. People in SL will generally not let you add them to your friends list until they know you well. Your friends list is for just that; established friendships. Not casual acquaintances and contacts.
  24. My favoutites are Fatewear, Redgrave, Lapointe & Bastchilde, Hoorenbeeks
  25. The same thing has been happenning to me over the past few weeks. Fortunately nothing of any importance has been returned to me but it's still a concern.
