  1. The ad image is actually misleading. Yes, they're pants and yes they have a fringe, but they're not actually as short as they look. They end mid-calf and the full ad set includes some amazing boots to wear with them. I think the creator squished the ad vertically to fit it into the given space. Even I was a bit wary of them, given how much they look like 'hipped' jodhpurs, but they actually look pretty damn amazing when worn. The only problem will be finding a top to wear with them. Give me some time to get a look put together around them, and I will I've worn something similar (also by David Heather) before. He put out a pair of pants that had an added 'skirt'. Because I knew I'd get side-eyed for it (and because I'm a contrary bugger) I also added a feather boa, just to top it off... I ain't skurred of a skirt or a bit of fringe
  2. Too late. I just bought the black ones Colour? ME??? Are you insane?! ETA: This is my shopping list for June 2017. It's one of those rare months when TMD pulls an absolute blinder and Skell's wallet empties faster than a pint five minutes before last orders are called... (Yes, I demo and then note on the demo itself what I want to buy, what I want to fatpack, and what I might buy if I have any money left after the must-haves. And you wonder why I have a 150k inventory...)
  3. I was about to say, that un-gettable one would be the nude, so yeah, Daros has definitely got that one in very good hands
  4. LOL! There'll always be one you have absolutely hundreds of (and everyone else has loads of that one, so they refuse to trade) and there'll always be one you never get, no matter how many packs you buy.
  5. 'Model T Ford'. AKA: Any colour, so long as it is black.
  6. I suspect you're running into the good old alpha glitch, but there's a couple more things you can try: 1. Check the blend slider for both upper and lower blush layers. Often, things like beards go up into the blush layer as well. 2. Save both the hairbase and beard to slots on your Catwa Master HUD, then apply them that way. This can occasionally get past those issues. If neither of those will fix it, search for and join the Catwa Head Friends group inworld and ask your question there, including a link to a screenshot. They're an incredibly helpful group and will do everything they can to sort out any problems you're having.
  7. I guess you could always try contacting him. Something like, "Hey there. I received some money from you on [date]. Was that meant for me or someone else? If it was me, then what was it for?" (I suggest not mentioning how much it was, though.) It's possible that he just spelled the name wrong and didn't bother to check anything about the profile that came up. I don't know if there's an avatar with a similar name (possibly Strauna instead of Struana?) but I guess that might be what happened. If you do contact him, update your support ticket with that info and anything he said in reply to it.
  8. I'll spend that time ogling said hot Finn instead of edumacatin' It's just another form of "I want someone else to fund my SL" demand, anyway, so nothing new; just a new (and lazy) way of going about it.
  9. You did the right thing. LL can track fraudulent L$, so just make sure you don't accidentally spend any of it. Keep an eye on your balance, make a note of what you had before that L$10k landed in it, and make sure you don't spend any more than that. If the money is still in your account in one month's time, and you've not heard anything back on your support ticket, chase it up. (If you're a premium account, start a live chat with Support to ask about it). After that amount of time has passed it's best to just ask if the money is fraudulent, or if you can go ahead and spend it.
  10. Another day, another paypig/findom post in the forums. Guess they got sick of having pictures of sugar daddy candy posted on their old attempts... Thought I'd brighten some days by bringing into this thread the only FinnDom (see what I did there?) that I'd be interested in. His name's Lauri Kalima. You're welcome
  11. Nope. The purpose of the post was to ask what category you use to report a Marketplace scam, as per your original comment: If there is an option for fraud > L$, check that option and explain that you received an empty box. With an expense this large, it really pays to do your research before purchasing. There are multiple offers on Marketplace for this gacha-only mesh head, and most of them are well into the L$2000-3000 mark, as befits the price of a full Genesis Lab head of L$4000. You opted to purchase one for just L$1000, from a seller who has only been active on Marketplace for three months, and who is only selling one set of gacha items. Most gacha resellers have a lot of items in their stores, of varying types. Also: at least three copies of the same rare gacha item in the same store is something of a warning sign, especially when there's nothing else in the store. As an afterthought, you did rez the box to unpack it, didn't you? I'm only asking this because some 'wear-to-unpack' scripts don't actually unpack no-copy items, and a lot of people aren't aware of this (I've even had this happen with purchases from some fairly well-known, big-name SL stores). Those items, regardless of whether you're prompted to wear them or not, still need to be rezzed in order to remove the no-copy items inside them.
  12. I once had a bf who was very fond of wearing tight skinny jeans. Whenever we parted I hated to see him go, but I loved to watch him leave
  13. Well, if you want to get all "chicken or egg" about it, the very first thing a non-Linden did on the early Second Life grid (before it even came out of beta) was to build something. Steller Sunshine was left alone in Second Life one night back in 2002, and when the Lindens returned the next morning, they found she'd built a cabin (now gone) and a beanstalk (still there). Prior to that, Second Life (or LindenWorld as it was then called) was pretty much a shooter game and nothing more. What Steller did that night changed the entire potential of SL, so - in essence (and somewhat pedantically) - it could be said that creating things was what SL was about to begin with.
  14. Gosh, you're absolutely right! If your individual support needs cannot be met between the hours of 5am (you must already be hard at work by then, after all) and 3pm (still hard at work, of course) then the whole shebang must close! It's shocking! Absolutely bloody disgraceful! I've had to contact Support many times during my ten years inworld. Never had anything but the best of help from them, and often got through to a Linden who could fix the issue on the spot. And if I couldn't get an answer there and then, I deployed a very special skill that I have. It's called patience. Here, honey. You dropped this:
  15. I did a little bit of digging around and located someone having the opposite problem that you're having: their avatar always hovered above seats. It turned out that their settings were corrupted. They deleted their settings folder, so that a new one was generated, but a full clean reinstall of your viewer might fix the problem. Try using a different viewer first, and - if the problem goes away with that viewer - you'll know it's your settings that are causing the issue.
  16. No vanity pic from me, just a whinge. Because of how frustrating I found mesh heads when I initially started using one (more options for women and far fewer for men led me to a lot of annoyances when trying to get skins, etc) I decided to embark on a tutorial blog post for guys who are thinking of getting a mesh body and head. I wanted to explain all the basics, show what to look for, mention Bento and Omega and all that stuff... I've just finished writing it. It's just over 4000 words Methinks I'm going to need to break that up with a lot of pictures before I hit 'publish'...
  17. @Phil Deakins and @Chic Aeon - I've had my brain in tutorial mode all day for a post on my blog, so I've just screencapped how I do it. I don't highlight any specific text and then click the + sign next to the quote link; I just click the + itself to multi-quote, and then edit the resultant text. Example: Clicking the + sign below Phil's post makes that 'quote 1 post' icon pop up in the lower-right of the screen (arrowed) - Then, clicking the + sign below Chic's post changes the 'quote 1 post' to 'quote 2 posts' - Keep clicking the + signs below posts you want to quote and, when you're done, click that 'quote [x] posts' icon and all of them will appear in your reply box - From there I just remove the text I don't want to quote, and add my replies in between.
  18. "Any man will do" (no offense to Clint) isn't how gay men work, any more than it's how straight women work (Well, the vast majority of them anyway, in both cases.)
  19. I suspect that whoever did wear that shoe resized it down so the ankle blend section fitted properly, and - thanks to that - ended up walking around with feet that were far too *small, proportionate to their avatar. (Assuming, of course, there's some kind of resize script option in the shoe, since you said they were generally no-mod.) *Shoe-to-body proportion is a thing I'm very much aware of, being a guy who occasionally wears heels. Sometimes, no matter how much I size up a pair of heels, the foot is too small to possibly be that of a man wearing them. If it's not too great a difference I'll sometimes let it go, but if it's really obvious then those shoes go in the trash.
  20. I type faster than Lil
  21. There's a dedicated section of the forum for that kind of question: https://community.secondlife.com/forums/forum/312-inworld-employment/ You'll have better luck asking in there
  22. If SL years are like dog years (7 dog years to every real year) then I'll be 70 next month, which figures in nicely with the Zimmer frame thing Those wings are actually pretty impressive for 2006. The texturing is quite effective. Put it this way: I've seen much worse! You and me both, re: the inventory thing. If that party is held maybe it should be called The SL Hop of Horrors.
  23. God, I love this thread. What a bunch of hot messes we were, but we looked fabulous for the time @Madelaine McMasters Nice bra. Even back then you were taking brilliantly humorous screenshots! @Aislin Ceawlin That skin (and one other which I think was called something like Shy Caramelle?) was about as de rigeur for the ladies as the Photorealistic Steve skin was for the guys when it hit the resell stores and freebie warehouses. Oh, the days when YadNi's was the height of fashion... @Hunter Stern I think I had that thong, too. It still amuses me that H2L's "Shun" hair (in the second-from-left pic in my montage) which I recall cost me about L$250 back in the day and was absolutely fantastic for what was available then... is now a freebie that you find everywhere. I remember hitting up Naughty Designs for my first proper skin (L$1000-ish, which was a real ouch! moment) and hair, and I used to shop at all the Gorean places, because - although I wasn't a fan of the whole Gor thing - I was into that kind of look at the time. When I moved into more everyday clothing, I shopped at Truth a lot, back when he first made hair and clothing (and he's recently started doing clothing again, I believe). Bloody hell, I sound like my old Grandad now. *leans over his Zimmer frame and shakes his fist at them youngins*
  24. *readies a bucket of cold water* (Heh. Thank you!) It's Men Only Monthly shopping time again, and while I was playing around with different brow shapers I came up with an unusual cat-eyed look for Skell. Also, face fuzz! Credits Skin applier: Avenge - Matthew (Catwa - peach)* Piercings: RealEvil Industries - Rebel Face Piercings* Hair: Stealthic - Haunting* Top: Etham - Kenneth Sleeveless Coat (black)* Eyes: Avi-Glam - Ardent Eyes (fjord) Hairbase: Stealthic - Male Hairbase Beard applier: CDC Creations - Beard 46 (tintable) Brow applier: Odeco - Catwa/Omega Mens Eyebrow Shaved Head: Catwa - Daniel Body: Slink Physique Male Hands: Slink Dynamic Male *all out at Men Only Monthly
  25. I did this back in 2011, when that 'avatar evolution' thing was doing the rounds on Flickr. Back then, I couldn't find my original 2007 avatar (the male Goth one) so the only thing I had was a 'male goth' outfit from Torley's free box of old avatar content at Stillman Bazaar. It was completely wrong, but eh; it was what I could find. I should really redo that now and update it, since it's six years out-of-date. But I did eventually find the screenshot that I took the day after I first rezzed, back in June 2007. I actually shrieked in horror when I finally figured out the camera controls and saw Skell's face. I went shopping the very same day. 2007 was a cruel year to be a noob...
