  1. yes, everything ON always except DOF (sometimes for photos).
  2. Or not LOL. While I was on BlogOtex at its beginning and "grandfathered in" by some people I had blogged for (like decades) I eventually left as a blogger there. It works well for some creators but I have always like TALKING to the folks I blog for == now and then anyway. I am sure it works well for some creators and for some bloggers but you CAN opt out and still do well -- with or without events. That wasn't an argument with your statement, just a segue on the theme of the thread.
  3. If you are willing to PAY, most brands these days get bloggers on BlogOtex. I am personally not a fan, but it is the "norm"
  4. So BRON is giving away 400 store credit. Group costs 30 to join. The items "I" looked at were 349. So basically you get an item of your choice for 30 lindens and can stay in group for other gifts (there are two past gifts on the wall). The quality is very good. I did NOT try them on the SENRA avatar (this is a friend with an altamura body. Legacy works well for THAT body). But might be worth checking out some demos. There are some plaid shirts and even some shoes which would in theory work for "most" bodies. Here is what he picked out. Shirt and vest come together. Comes with a big hud to change everything but the color of the vest (buttons, trim, shirt etc) http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/BRON/148/122/46
  5. Ahh. Well it was SUPPOSED to go over on the furniture thread but someone had already posted. Picture up now on my blog. Link in footer :D. FINCA cute little table with a waterfront village deco.
  6. VERY sorry, wrong thread. Too early I guess.
  7. OK. I did a test with JAMIE and both old and new body fits as well as "fitmesh". I didn't try Slink as I didn't have any but I did try about six or seven fits and nothing came close at AL (and I do mean at all) to the body I had which was very close to one of the default shapes. I am guessing this was a PLAN but since shoulders, tummy, boobs and even general placement were well off in my test I am guess that folks will need either BOM or something made especially for that body (and hence often will not be free). So far there doesn't seem to be anything. Will take time.
  8. Current long thread on this if you search last week. It appears to be an actual issue for some folks. Maybe you. I don't have the thread handy though.
  9. Cute event styling but wanted to say that it might be a bit early to look for bloggers. At this point as there is really no info on the website other than the 100 lindens and under mention. There are no rules for bloggers listed, or requirements (maybe there are none LOL). But most (seasoned) bloggers that I know aren't going to apply without a bit more knowledge. I do wish you all the best though. It is a tough event world out there these days == was happy to see something other than plain white booths though :D. Appreciated.
  10. LET'S bet back on topic LOL. Didn't mean to lead us astray. SOOOOOOO --- I am wondering if there is a "mesh body fit" that works pretty well with the avatars. Any comments on that? In theory there will be some clothing made especially for both guys and gals but wondering what else might work. I admit that I haven't tried but would be good to know. If already mentioned I missed it.
  11. Unfortunately the moderators did . All good, I just don't post pictures as much as I used to.
  12. Yes I noted that "young" look also. Nothing wrong with that especially since the "original settlers" are getting pretty darn old now. And I DO agree that the new realms LOOKED better than the old but it was pretty obvious then that it was not meant for the new folks like the old one was. I tried a few times but after the first couple of days and even with not many avatars there few crystals appeared and some of the places you needed to go on the quests I NEVER figured out. Again and to get back on topic sort of as we have strayed a bit into "new folks" territory -- I think the new avatars are a big step up from the old I just wish there was something for the new folks to DO to make money (like in Sansar) == even money that they could only spend on the Marketplace. That would help both new folks get their look together, learn how the Marketplace works, help creators and get a bit of income for LL from the sale of the items (creators get their money and LL gets there cut). Even the Glythes were super fun but you couldn't DO anything after you caught a gazillion glytches LOL. So back then and now still I think being able to turn in say 50 common glytches for 10 lindens would let the folks that really needed the money get some. But the new avatars are certainly a step in the right direction for grid growth IMO (there I "bookended" my comment :D.
  13. Someone complained that it was "advertising". I agree it is not
  14. Yep I went back over and checked that. For awhile I think you had to be Premium. Even it it was really "free for everyone" if you were actually NEW it is really difficult to understand. I forgot that the "tutorial video" is made with a voice that is terribly hard to understand. SO NOT really meant for new folks any longer. I loved the old realms and lots of new folks learned skills there. The new reals is not the place. There are a very few ways to earn lindens now, sadly. That is why I did my makerovers (did one for the guys too) for ZERO lindens. I couldn't get my guy to look like "I" would like to look if I was a guy (or even as anyone I would be attracted to LOL, but it is better than the default I think. EDIT: Forgot I couldn't post with my signature. Fixed that. Not great composition but legal.
  15. In Blender you "could" make several shapes of rugs and "stack" them(not quite touching or the uploader would be unhappy) and then just turn the material in one rug to transparent and the material in another rug to show up via code. If you kept ALL materials in the set under 8 it could be one piece and depending on how things were made there would be some advantages as to how fast things show up (not having to load the mesh over again). You would need to keep things fairly simple (or at least "should" I guess would be more correct). You could make each rug a separate material (Blender term) and "face" (SL term) and then you could have more then one texture on a rug and several rugs and still be under the 8 materials max. And yes this could get fairly complex so far as doing the work in Blender or another 3D program. IF you were just doing simple things like a square rug or a rectangle rug or a round rug and dind't have tassles or wrinkles in the rugs etc then it could actually be quite simple. And you can rez objects from withing AVsitter. Either way this isn't a beginner type project
  16. Here is how to find it in your inventory under LIBRARY then Apply Only To Myself
  17. Just a couple of comments. The EEP settings from Firestorm (many in the FS viewer still including mine :D) have been ported over from Windlight. Some of those did NOT port over well and others look almost the same as our old Windlights. You CAN of course adjust the settings and learning how to do that is REALLY IMPORTANT. It is important to read the Photography and machnima rules for Second Life. Most but not all sim owners ALLOW photography but some have "no photograhpy" or "no selling of photos taken here" clauses in the Land tab so be sure and read those. https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Snapshot_and_machinima_policy I am probably one of the oldest photographers here with many thousands of photos taken (few on Flickr these days) and I have never used any lighting or camera controls other than the Amacci neck hud (a gift). If I need lighting and I can rez I make my own light source (sources) from a ball in the viewer. In my mind composition and lighting are key.
  18. This "solved" my problem. Not terribly intuitive and indeed a change form the last time I changed (likely before the latest FS was out). Here is a screenshot for visual folks.
  19. It has been a long time since I did "TV" interviews (the only time I use voice) but check all the setting in your viewer in the voice area. There are choices about moving your lips etc there. Most likely NOT the heads if they are all acting "incorrectly".
  20. Haven't read this thread closely but got the idea. Wanted to mention that I had a friend in Opensim several years ago (maybe a decade now) who told me he had spent enough in SL over a few years to buy a real life house. In retrospect he was not happy about that and did leave. Pretty difficult to spend much in Opensim :D. He built his own grid (free) and made his own environment sometimes buying items from others and downloading lots of free content -- and there is a fair amount of gifted items (not stolen) in OS. He seemed to be much happier.
  21. I had a rant here but deleted it. It did not make ANY improvement over DSL (not cable) but costs more and we had no choice. Lots of other complaints that were deleted. Not a happy camper.
  22. This is a very long conversation spanning many years. I would guess that 90 of SL items are made by "hobbyists". REA: (insert smile here) 3D creators get paid a whole lot more and working here isn't worth their time except perhaps as a creative release. That being said some folks CARE about what they are making and how it impacts the platform, others just look at what they can sell. I have been on record for well over a decade stating that I rarely make my own LODs. If you actually take the time, make low tri objects to start with and pay attention to what the uploader is doing you can get perfectly good, see half way across the sim with very low land impact items by using the uploader. I have tried making my own LODs. I didn't do any better. BUT I do pay attention to what I setting as upload criteria (more options now for sure) and don't just take what the viewer gives you as default. For many things that would be a very bad idea since the uploader appears to be set for small building size, not furniture or small items. This isn't going to change. What "I" would like to see is the ability to change the LOD settings INWORLD as we had in Cloud Party. Then if we had some smallish item we loved with faulty LODs, WE could make the changes -- most likely paying a premium of some kind for the choice.
  23. You didn't tell us the steps you used but try> LOL. OK. "I" can't change mine either. There is no "save" option that shows up when I change the picture. I tried several ways. There IS an issue.
