    upgrading tier

You will pay tier on the HIGHEST amount of land that you owned in the previous billing cycle. So if you buy now you will be paying extra tier for just a few days. Which is what Littleme said but in a slightly different way. If you own more land then your tier level for even two seconds you will PAY for that extra. Been there. Sometimes there is no way around that but the best plan it to sell or abandon your old plot and then buy new just after your tier date. If you have 1/8 of a sim and then buy a 1/4 you will (I think as I am not checking) be paying for half a sim -- or whatever the next tier level would be. It is NOT prorated at all.
  2. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/REKA NUTMEG/124/100/27 Super cute for the weekend at Nutmeg. Not for the prim challenged. Not the best LODs but definitely a good value for some folks! 5 - 3 - 2 land impact -- separate pieces. You can enlarge the message board and keep 5 li and improve LODs some.
  3. Almost all the places that I have rented in the past have had a "rental agreement" sometimes in a notecard and sometimes in the land tab. And for me it was always very clear that if your paid ahead your rent would not be returned on exiting. I can only remember one place that refunded a percentage. IF the landlord in question did not have a rental agreement it was up to you to asked if you cared. Personally I have almost never paid more than a week-ish ahead just because THINGS HAPPEN and sometimes I move on quickly. The only exception I can think of in sixteen years which was in Babbage where I paid monthly -- but my Babbage rent was basically there to support the area so more like a donation to the historical area.
  4. If you have objects that are set to "share with group" as in some rentals, then anyone in the group can move things around. Setting up a privacy orb may help but depending on how things are set up they could be far away. Locking seems to be a very good idea!
  5. While I am not going to apply I am wondering how important Adobe Suite might be :D. If you are having trouble getting those photographers (ad makers) it might be because the whole world doesn't use Adobe (on purpose LOL). That's my two cents. Best of luck to you.
  6. This is cute but it has THIRTY SEVEN TEXTURES on it which means that many trips for the server to get it. Took a long time for all those textures to load for me and I have NO issue normally on my smoking computer :D. So beware of that. Might be best for photos :D.
  7. Out at the Fifty. NOT for the prim challenged but I LOVE IT !!!!! Trompe Loeil booth https://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/The Fifty/1/129/777 Also comes empty which of course would be fewer land impact if not as much fun.
  8. Just recalling the VERY LONG AND PAINFUL switch to EEP. That "your stuff will still look OK" idea is certainly questionable and not so surprisingly. I hope they don't switch over before they have things solved this time. Hopefully those lessons have been learned.
  9. Just wanted to mention that if the floor prim doesn't work it COULD be where the walls meet the floor. You can actually SEE this (in Firestorm any way. The "eye" icon is a toggle and you can turn on the physics visibility and see where the gaps are. If it is perfect it is likely all blue (there are other colors but blue is the most common). I had my kitty walking through the bottom of the walls and ending up underneath the house. PS: You need to SELECT THE HOUSE before toggling (naturally)
  10. Best to post screenshots of your settings for both viewers so the folks that would know can answer. I have had a fair amount of issues with Win11 on my new laptop but running a utilities program has fixed most. But some programs don't work well in Win11. It simply COULD be a difference in some setting but it will be difficult to say if folks don't know what yours are :D. Good luck.
  11. Out for Trompe Loeil superfans this week (house too). Lots of fun.
  12. The point legally as I understand it is that since the number of possibilities IS FINITE one cannot prove that anything was stolen. :D.
  13. As far as I know you cannot "copyright" shapes as there are only so many possibilities (recipes are the same). Actually you pretty much can't "copyright" anything in SL because the costs would be prohibitive for the amount of income,. (I think that fellow LOOOOONG ago that made the sex beds etc did copyright and I think he won but that is a whole 'nother story) . The BETTER ANSWER is to go from the head slider numbers and DO change a few things (honestly in my mind most of the default head shapes are pretty awful and I would never keep them anyway) and then make your body shapes . That way the issue is no longer an issue. There are usually only a few slider shapes per head (each head seems to be different) that will mess up things for people. That's my thoughts anyway. I did sell shapes for awhile both here and on other grids. I always started from scratch though :D.
  14. LOL. Well it depends on the quality you are baking as well as the the size of the texture plain you are baking too -- AND of course your computer specs. I have a fairly smoking computer these days bought during COVID when I only had two choices of a 3070 chip and one was a company I will never buy from again LOL. So spent a lot of money and it is a dream, but I do remember those two hour bakings. Houses are trickier than small objects because you (I) want them to be clear enough to look good and not so texture heavy that they cause a lot of lag. When you get your house completed you might try something simple like a vase baked at 1024 and maybe 400 and see how that works for you and how long it takes. Then downsize to 512 and see the difference and what you think. In Sansar we were encouraged (at the time) to bake even at 4096. I only did that once with a barn and I think most of the barn was all on one texture. Anyway you have just started so you will work out your method over time I am sure.
  15. These seem to be not working (Wed 4 pm SLT) now. You can "buy" them but they don't come and there is no charge -- so far anyway. Grid status says things are good. And yes, the regular price is VERY expensive. EDIT: Still not working several hours later. Oh well.
  16. A lovely as always explanation. Aquila is queen. I just wanted to note for OTHERS (not the OP who is apparently using standard tiling textures for this build) that IF you were BAKING the textures with subtle (or not so subtle but I am not a fan of those) shadows you would need to divide that one piece wall in half (or more for some folks) The wall textures could all go on the same texture file to bake AND you could line them up on the UV texture before baking so that they would look "perfect". My choice would be to have it fill a 20 40 texture and then upload where it would become a 1024. Each creator works differently of course. Again this is for folks NOT using tiling textures. Just wanted to note that as it could be confusing. If you tried BAKING that texture as shown here -- even on a 2048 which I normally bake to -- it would end up very blurry. One choice is not necessarily "better" than the other but typically the more expensive houses have baked textures :D.
  17. Well Aquila gave you lots of great info and YES when you are learning it is mos often "you" (that generic universal "you"). Re the physics. You need to walk through the whole house, every room, every corner and through every doorway to 1. make sure that you can and 2 make sure that the walls think they are walls and aren't "spongy. Not falling though the floor is good and a first step but you should also not fall through the roof etc. ALSO If you haven't checked your LODs that is a BIGGIE. Make sure you can see your house from far away like half way across a sim at LOD2 (the Firestorm default) Lower LOD? Sure that is better but LOD2 will work for most folks. If you have your viewer set on LOD4 then you will NOT see what the majority of folks will see. You can also change LOD settings in the Quick Preference Pane if you use that. Personally I am worried about that thin trim disappearing. There are tricks for that but they are pretty advanced. Just be sure and check :D. AND as Aquila says you scale should match. You can see what size your object is in the upload panel and it is OH SO IMPORTANT to upload at the correct size (especially for houses). And as she said the textured should look the same. When I was the one learning and asking all the questions (back when mesh was new hear and this forum was one of the most used LOL) someone told me to ALWAYS apply "location" "rotation" and "scale" before uploading any item. I have done that faithfully for twelve or fourteen years now and it has saved a lot of heartache. So doing that may solve some of your issues. It is difficult to say since we don't really know what you did :D. Good luck. My first little house was a tiny casitta with jalousie windows and it took me forever. Those where the days when you really COULD fall through the floor no matter what you did as the uploader wasn't all that great then LOL.
  18. If they are mesh jeans the answer is simply to get other jeans and of course try on the demo before buying. Some designers just make jeans, legging etc that way. Many pants have auto hide in them and it is possible that "you" are sticking out beyond the jeans so adjusting your shape won't really help. COCO has a big wall of free group items (several walls actually) and you might be able to find something there that won't be so snug. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/COCO DESIGNS/169/66/22 Other good places to look would be the weekend sales but ALWAYS TRY THE DEMO.
  19. While I think this is a good idea (and I only skimmed this thread) I just wanted to mention that toward the end of LL in Sansar they made an achievement system as well as a really good tutorial. I did both to see what they were like. The achievement system was a game of sorts and you did build skills AND you got credits that could be used on the Market (and only there) so you could outfit your avatar. It did not help keep people there however so most likely this will never happen in Second Life. Just some history.
  20. Doors need to be separate from the house, in many cases (not all) need to be "faked" wider in order for door scripts to work. I am guessing that you haven't uploaded the house yet. It definitely looks like you are going to have issues with the window trim and LODs. Also many to most creators of house upload the house is PIECES. Even with a very good physics model and using the Linden viewer the more complex the house (and yours is) the less likely that the physics will upload correctly. So I strongly suggest that you make the beta grid your friend and test what you have so far so that you can understand the issues that WILL come up :D. It will likely save you a LOT of redoing -- which is a way to learn of course, but still somewhat frustrating. Good luck. If you look up Second Life House physics you will likely find my videos at the top of the list. They are OLD and the interface no longer matches, but the IDEAS in there will probably be helpful. Good luck.
  21. FINCA at The Arcade (just opened and who knew?) Includes water jug with stand and cups AND stool. 50 lindens. Lots of other cute kitchen goodies both plain white and with pattern. The machine is towards the very back on the right side as you come in the door. Amazingly 2 li. Very good LODs.
  22. Just to update this thread I did a one dollar avatar last Fall which may still have some items that are of use to new folks. Some things were "under 30 days" if I remember correctly. Part 1 https://chicatphilsplace.blogspot.com/2022/12/the-one-linden-avatar.html Part 2 https://chicatphilsplace.blogspot.com/2022/12/the-one-linden-avatar-part-2.html
  23. As far as I know the Bento part was never finished for Qavimator. It was STARTED but I checked over and over and it was still "in process" and very much Beta according to the text at the website. Since this has been years I suspect it isn't going to ever happen. Blender and Avastar works well OR you can keep making non-Bento poses. Honestly for most things it is just the hands that matter and most of the top bodies come with hand options so unless you are making animations for your own attachments (like a bottle to drink from with hands wrapped around it) old poses and animations work just fine.
