  1. New at ACCESS from FINCA. Big set of foods that include holdable versions. Really gorgeous. This is my favorite.
  2. LOL. Chic at Phil's Place came to be the name of my blog when OH so long ago Linden Lab put out an edict that no one could use the name Second Life or any derivatives there of on the web. A few folks ignored and never got into trouble but some clever person started calling Second Life "Phil's Place" as Phillip was the CEO back then. I loved that and so named my "new" blog as such. This must have been fifteen years ago now. This was about the same time as the copybot scandal. Ah the memories LOL.
  3. Seaching the forums is always a good step.
  4. Lots of good H and G at The Arcade this round. Various genres. Here retro from Second Spaces. Orchid plant is from FINCA. These are "gacha" machines where you match your hud and know in advance what you can buy. Huds change out at midnight.
  5. Most likely limited time as they usually are but no date given. Free group. Many head sizes and full color pack. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Rapture/94/127/22
  6. The blogotex video is two years old and the other seems to be about GENERAL blogging. That being said my GUESS is that there are now SO MANY bloggers signed up for BlogOtex that they are no longer taking applications. There USED to be a sign up page but it seems to be gone. You cannot log into BlogOtex without an blogger account. It used to be (and likely still is) that if you were blogging for a creator that is taking advantage of the paid service that they could add you. It's been years since I was a part of BlogOtex so this is all a guess. Maybe a current BlogOtex blogger will see this and actually KNOW :D.
  7. Great set for farmy people and "ranch" folks from Nutmeg this weekend. 3 piece set plus empty whellbarrow option.
  8. Out for Superfans this week at Trompe Loeil, the aveline kitchen which is MODULAR and MOD LOL. This is my favorite fridge and I have used this set often as it is smallish. Some shelves come in the mix and all the accessories in the cabinets and the tea pot come with. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Trompe Loeil Mainstore/207/163/27
  9. I have sold a lot of in the air surrounds over he years (OH SO MANY LOL) and talking to a customer or two who were putting up lounges, they informed me that 2048 x 4096 was the most popular or "standard" size for a club. So IF that is true then an 1/8 of a sim would work and that certainly seems big enough for a lounge bar. Mainland will give you plenty of land impact over a homestead lot. Stay away from any places with lots of green dots on the map (other clubs for example) and any signs of breedables. Note that you will have few slots for customers on mainland than you would on a full prim private region. Above all keep in mind that things can change in a heartbeat on mainland as there are NO RULES.
  10. Most split the difference. I am guessing that the ones with DIRECTIONAL shadow are either not the actual creator and using the shadow provided by a full perm person OR the item is pretty old from the first days of SL mesh. Most creator's that I feature and buy from don't use sharp textures. Some of course include items with and without floor (or wall) shadows. Important to note that there is a difference between AMBIENT shadow and CAST shadows. It is the cast shadows that are usually the problematic ones. Ambient shadows are soft and from the "ambient" light in the room (or think overcast day. There are always some shadows on objects; that's what helps us recognize their shapes. This is something painters often deal with
  11. I don't add shadows under my furniture builds but I do like shadows behind framed art. BUT for those you you that do not know this, if the floor "shadow" prim is built into the mesh (lowering land impact in many cases and really the smart way to do it) the texture can be turned to transparent by "SELECTING FACE" in the build menu and then choosing transparent. IN MOST cases that will work (this assuming the creator used "best practices" when setting materials. So give that a try sometime when you have an issue.
  12. The FS viewer does a lot (LOT) more than the Linden viewer. At the same time it is more complex to learn. I have used FS for over a decade and it does so many things that I feel I NEED that using the Linden viewer is painful. That being said it is probably easier for NEW folks to use the Linden viewer -- at least at first. There are classes for the Firestorm viewer, but there is still a learning curve.
  13. It is my Scarlet Creative "house on a rock" house but the "look" is partially my graphics program :D. SORRY., "wink". Not inworld but picture here. It is at ground level on UMBER sim. https://chicatphilsplace.blogspot.com/2023/02/zanzibar-hideaway.html Ahh. looks like it must be called "zanibar" from the title. I was a bad girl and didn't paste in the build name in the main text. It is a super cute little house with lots of character.
  14. This weekend at Nutmeg Rack comes with male, female and kid boots OR male and female OR female. Boots are separate. I tinted one pair
  15. Long ago when I was teaching classes the best place to "advertise" was in the EVENTS classifieds (not the forums as not that many folks read the forums really. We are kind of "niche" which isn't a bad thing just limits things) . Personally I think it is going to be difficult to get folks to pay a group fee or even take part for free. Realistically "I" could give classes in home styling as I have taken RL classes. If you have a DEGREE in home decorating then certainly put that in your ad. In years past it was much easier to get folks into classrooms (not role play but actual learning classes). These days enthusiasm seems very much down in that area so if this doesn't work out -- don't think it is "you" = it most likely is NOT . Good luck.
  16. I was thinking along the lines of Aquila yesterday when I read this but knew she would explain better and with pretty pictures. As to the "WHY" of your problem, it "could" have happened if the uploader "made" the physics model (almost always a bad idea) rather than having built one in their 3D program. The more complex a building is -- especially when it is not divided into sections with their own physics models and then put together in SL, the more issues can arise. To be fair to the creator, IF the building worked well as designed, they did their job. There is never any guarantee that an item can be modded as the purchaser wants even it it IS modifiable.
  17. I admit that I didn't read ALL of this thread so far as most posts were from folks who hadn't even been there (yes, well) BUT "I" was there right after the event opened, had no issues at all with textures rezzing. The important thing is that the creators apparently HAD A CHOICE as many gifts were right there to be picked up. There were some "additional huds for the products being sold" given as "gifts" and I agree that is tacky for sure. Another important note from someone who picked up many of the gifts (like 50) given out at the event (not makeup that I can't wear and a few other things I avoided) and opened all those boxes --- this has some of the nicest clothing of any even of late -- right up there with some of the Shop and Hops but with much less work. I have two blog posts in my queue for next week and I had a great time doing the fashion show portion -- something I can just barely remember having fun with. So instead of everyone complaining -- maybe actually doing some homework before saying stuff that isn't really true might be a better idea. Personally I am keeping more from this event (again didn't go to the main stores) as any of late. Some venues don't even blog because they are so poor. THANKS to the designers who went the extra mile and made worthwhile presents.
  18. I went over and got the hud thinking I would make a blog post. Text was SO SMALL on the hud (and I do NOT have a 4k monitor) I could barely read it, then after reading was completely confused; had no idea what to do. And of course I am VERY OLD so hopefully should not be confused. Looked around and missed any info that might be out there explaining so maybe a notecard giver on landing? I have to say I was not impressed with my journey -- sadly.
  19. You didn't really give enough info but here is a start. Most likely YOU did it by accident. If you are in Firestorm Viewer you can open up the Quick View panel and click the X at the bottom to take you back to the default look of the sim. You can also cycle through the WATER tab and find one that you like if you don't like the default. If you are renting a parcel from an estate there is a CHANCE that the landlord changed the water and you are stuck with that as the default but you can still change the look for YOU in the choices. You can do this in the Linden viewer also but I am not really sure where that is.
