Does anyone bother to look up what these words mean before they propose them, do you think? Cuz it sure doesn't look like it in this instance. When I read them, the first thing that popped into my head after seeing Lovelace and Simp was, Oh those must be tying into the new adult theme.. Where the rest feel more Valentine orientated.. I would say, out of most of the lists they've had since they brought back last names, this list is gonna go fast.. hehehe

In fact I was reading through the list of new last names and when I read that one I said out loud "Oh dear"! I cannot see there being many takers. Logging in to take a look ... About 8 so far, including one rather cutely named The Simp, an almost seven year old resident. The for a first name is always cute in my opinion. The Sack highly amuses me for some reason. (Just noticed name for photo credit bottom right corner - was Libido a new last name for last Valentine's Day?) Does seem a little oddly not-a-joke compared to the usual seasonal ones. Waiting for someone to grab Linda with that one.

Scylla Rhiadra
My favourite Lovelace is Richard Lovelace, the Cavalier poet of the mid-17th century who was the author of some gorgeous love lyrics. This is the famous conclusion to a poem he wrote to this lover while in prison for having assisted King Charles I against a hostile parliament. In the poem, "To Althea, from Prison," he argues that he is paradoxically most truly held captive by his love for her, but that this amorous imprisonment frees him from earthly bonds. Seems pretty appropriate for Valentine's Day to me. Stone Walls do not a Prison make, Nor Iron bars a Cage; Minds innocent and quiet take That for an Hermitage. If I have freedom in my Love, And in my soul am free, Angels alone that soar above, Enjoy such Liberty. Luna Bliss
I propose LoveEverlasting for a last name. FOR KEEPS Joy Harjo 1951 – Sun makes the day new. Tiny green plants emerge from earth. Birds are singing the sky into place. There is nowhere else I want to be but here. I lean into the rhythm of your heart to see where it will take us. We gallop into a warm, southern wind. I link my legs to yours and we ride together, Toward the ancient encampment of our relatives. Where have you been? they ask. And what has taken you so long? That night after eating, singing, and dancing We lay together under the stars. We know ourselves to be part of mystery. It is unspeakable. It is everlasting. It is for keeps. I kind of get it now. I had to go back to what I posted as I had already forgotten why we were discussing whether or not someone's name was misprinted So, has Libido been used yet for a last name? ... /me goes to check. Marigold Devin
Nope. Libido has not (yet) been used as a last name. I think that would be more popular than Simp. I think. Edited February 2 by Marigold Devin so now I've suggested it on a suggestion form to LL

I've wondered about this sort of thing for a while now. Could someone potentially run into trouble for naming themselves after a public figure or a copyrighted character?
