This triggered off a really dusty old memory in my bonce.

I had a pet rottweiler called Wolfie, and he suddenly drifted skywards and vanished.  A few days later, I received a message from a Linden employee saying they had found Wolfie whose physics was clashing with the region, so they had returned him to my inventory and asked me if I would leave him there until something or other was fixed.

I'm not saying this is the same thing that has happened to your pet tiger, who may well be back in your lost and found folder, but certainly in the olden days, some lost things could be found at 0,0,0 on the region where it was lost. You could check there.
