I'd have thought he was more a draw for Boomers than anyone else. And do Millennials really listen to . . . Barry Manilow?

Speaking as a solid in-the-middle-of-the-pack GenXer, he feels pretty ancient even to me.

Mind you, ABBA is having a resurgence.

OH! And you forgot the Canadian content! Celine Dion!

Oh gosh. Fellow Gen X here - I thought Barry Manilow was as ancient as Tom Jones - and at least he has some relevance for me due to the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. 😂Funny story for another time perhaps, but I dragged my mom to see Tom live once (and even she was like omg whyyyy at first). Most entertaining concert ever. We had a blast. Play some Tom Jones, and I might show up just to Carlton dance around the casino for a few minutes.

Is the casino actually Vegas themed, though? Maybe we could simply skip alla dat, if not. 😄

Agreed, it's not really Vegas themed.  I think the "entertainment" discussion came up because the Social Casino lacks not only entertainment, or a DJ, but even lacks a music stream (as all of Linden builds does).

Other major US Casino cities have similar entertainment to Vegas, like "Atlantic City".

Entertainment won't do much for it unless they go all out. Live performers, especially. When I was in Vegas, I saw Cirque du Soleil, a comedian, that ventriloquist who won America's Got Talent, etc. Tried to see Criss Angel, but how dare he - he was off that week! Hmpf.

I've been dragged to casinos all over the place (within the US and out) and they all had similar stuff going on. Then again, this is SL, so maybe I'm expecting too much. 😂 Ours seems more based on the phone app variety, so I suppose I'm not too surprised there isn't much in the way of entertainment.

Pump some Egyptian music through the speakers and call it a day (I vote for rap *twerks*).

Yeah at least some playlists from Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darwin, Wayne Newton, and Liberace, for the SL Boomer crowd.  Garth Brooks, Keith Urban, and Barry Manilow for the middle aged Millennials.

Clubs like Fogbound don't encourage gestures from the DJ or hostess.  Or much chatter either.  But only 1/2 the crowd has the DJ stream on, so perhaps the draw is meeting people, for at least one night...

Well, that leaves us so called Jones Generation (LMAO*) out in the cold without any so-called classic rock.

*Again that was my parents, not my generation. We missed it by || that much.

Which Classic Rock groups would you expect to see in a Casino show? Some of them must be in Vegas "Retirement" by now.

(I know a lot of them pass through Florida perennially on a never-ending "goodbye tour".)

Next two days in Vegas:  Santana, Donny Osmond, Bruno Mars, Ringo Starr, The Righteous Brothers,  Barry Manilow (of course), Air Supply, Katy Perry, and my favorite, Smash Mouth.  Just for the Pop/Rock category.  Garth Brooks at Caesars Palace for 3 days.  And lots of DJ's.

Wow, ok. Santana??? He's still got a bit of street cred -- what's HE doing there?

The Righteous Brothers . . . might be fun, for nostalgic reasons at least.

Smash Mouth sort of confirms my feeling that people play Vegas when their careers are on the wane. I'm a little surprised, in that context, by Katy Perry.

Not judging, but I suspect Silent's definition of "Classic Rock" means older groups, although Santana, Ringo Starr, and the Righteous Brothers probably fit.

Think I saw some posts (On TikTok? Facebook?) about a "Katy Perry Show". Like, an extravaganza of some type.

When Trent Reznor makes the Vegas rounds, I might officially feel old.

Or Rage...Against the Slot Machine.

No idea what Katy Perry and Bruno Mars are doing there, though. Aren't they like 19 (ok ok, they're late 30s...but still). That's gotta be a tour and not a perma-gig.

Even with 2-3 shows per day, 3 days per week, it's probably easier than the pressure of touring and they probably get to keep more money than touring!

OMG, I nearly fell off my chair laughing!

I was suggesting starting a thread on Casino songs earlier, my contribution was "You Better, You Bet" by The Who!

Good idea! It would be amazing if one of the Las Vegas casinos played this

Sting is currently doing Vegas and just missed Lady Gaga.  Usher and John Legend are there, too.  I don't think it's as much "where washed up acts go" as it might once have been.

Nope.  Now Reno or Atlantic City, on the other hand....
