Are you on or in SL?

The use of the wording "on SL" always confounds me. Granted, there/they're/their always rubs me the wrong way "also too"  

But "on" SL. Are you on,  or are you in? On SL sounds like you are just watching  the rest of us from above

I'm logged on my computer, but in SL (or as I generally think about it, in-world).

I'm "on" when I'm talking to someone independently of it. (e.g. "I'm on Second Life, have you heard of it?")

I am whatever comes out of my mouth at any given moment, or my fingers on the keyboard to be exact. Sometimes I log on and then am in SL. Sometimes I can't get into SL, I get off SL. Sometimes I am online and other times I am offline. And right now I wish George Carlin could just say this stuff for me. And do the whole Stuff routine, too. But I digress. I don't watch from above like a goddess or demon, but sometimes I wish I could. Closest I can come is when I use the World Map and see all the little green dots. I wish I could get closer but that would be perving. I mean really perving, right?

Thank you, @BraveHot. This is truly an important question.

The choice of preposition can be extremely critical. After all, being ON the tiger is vastly different from being IN the tiger...although the one may certainly lead to the other.

Telling someone you’re on Second Life sounds like you are telling it to someone who isn’t familiar with and doesn’t use Second Life. Telling someone you are in Second Life sounds like the other person is also a resident and you are inviting them to join you in world.

On when I mean "I have an account and a presence in SL". 

In when I mean I am there right now.
