  1. I grabbed a free boat from MP yesterday and sailed around for a while, it was fun!
  2. Nice thread, I hope the suggestions will continue. I mainly wander SL taking pictures, so it's nice to see some different ideas to try. Today I joined a group called The Nature Collective. If, like me, you enjoy nature in SL, taking pictures etc. then it seems a nice group to join. They have an Explorer HUD for free where you can find LMs to a variety of nature spaces to explore, I will give this a go as well as my usual methods of finding places to explore on Flickr, Destination Guide, etc. They also seem to hold events such as book club or group outings, I am not sure my introverted nature will allow me to attend any of these but you never know! Anyway I thought I would add them to the list here.
  3. I will stick one of these bodies on my alt. He is very neglected and I think he will appreciate it.
  4. After a two month break, I got my camera out again. How time flies.
  5. Agree with all the comments about the demo timers. I tried out some hair today, with demo rings attached plus a 5 minute timer. I need more time than that to look at the different colours in the hud, try the style with different hair bases, etc. If I can't do that and be sure it will work for me, I wont buy. It's just silly to give so short a time, and rather than panic me into buying, the urgency feeling just pushes me to remove and delete.
  6. I visited Panjin today, it's lovely https://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Overland Hills/60/65/26
  7. Bearing in mind I have an untechnical brain, things that would encourage me to spend more time in SL.. Being able to flip between streaming SL or using the viewer, depending on what I am doing. I would stream if I wanted to attend a big, popular event where I want to see everyone and everything in ultra graphics without crashing or lagging down to unusuable FPS. I hardly ever attend large populated events because I have to basically derender everyone to be able to move and stay online, which makes it almost pointless (for me) to attend. I want to see what everyone looks like, etc. as well as hear music and so on. So for me that would be a great option to stream when needed, and then use the regular viewer to drag around furniture, change clothes etc, when I need to make changes to my environment. I would also like to be able to take part in some more creative activity in SL, like when I first started and anyone could drag out some prims and learn to build. While I love how beautiful everything looks in SL these days, I am merely a consumer now rather than a contributer. I did try to learn blender once, I made a cup that was 38472847389897392 LI when I brought it inworld and needed it's own server just to rez I think 0.o But I would like more options to create inside SL rather than on separate (complicated, for me) programs, and that allows it to be part of an inworld experience.
  8. Thanks for making this post, I was able to make a friend aware to hit the redeliver board. I had Slink hands and feet back in the day! They were so pretty lol, I would literally go around barefoot as much as possible because of the prettiness 😂 Then bodies came out with all included and I moved on. I feel sorry for creators these days honestly, so many different bodies to deal with and rig for. I could never have that much patience!
  9. I think mine should be to try and be a bit more sociable and stop wandering around on my own so much. I say this every year though, so..😂
  10. I find the mini map useful when exploring. I can see the perimeter of where I'm walking to make sure I cover all the areas to be seen. I can avoid walking up to people by avoiding those green dots, thereby avoiding interrupting their privacy if they are sitting quietly or whatever. If I go to friends only, I can avoid trampling over people by negotiating around the green dots, which I do sometimes at busy places. Once in a while I also use it to find out where I'm supposed to be going by finding a crowd of people far away from the landing point, or finding a friend I have lost somewhere when exploring. All reasons why I would not want the ability for people to hide themselves on the map. Even if they did I can see them on radar anyway but that's not half as useful to me.
  11. I feel like you just wrote my bio! lol I rarely add people to contact list and I rarely get asked. I think I give off that natural leave me be vibe 😂
  12. I realised today I have a pet peeve.. Stores who put their store name on clothes in the style of a huge logo across the front of a shirt etc. Sometimes I like the item of clothing, but for me they ruined it with the huge store name logo. If someone wants to know where I bought something they will ask me or simply right click and inspect to find out, no need for me to be a walking advertisment lol. Ok now back to shopping hehe. Happy weekend everyone ☺️
  13. more wandering in SL https://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Sereno Bay/224/62/29
  14. a little different :3 taken at Longing Melody https://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Celestine/190/229/23
  15. When the rabbit and fox both meet in the wood, You can never be sure if the two will be good. Taken at the eternally lovely Frogmore https://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Frogmore/181/97/29
  16. I would say rather that no expectations is the key to happiness, or at least the antidote to feeling negative or angry at people in SL. I can't say if SL is more or less social than before. I know when I log in and am in the mood to chat/banter then I can usually create that experience for myself with others around me. When I am not in the mood for chat then I am happy to watch people socialise around me while I quietly listen to music or take pictures of something interesting. Conversation takes a certain kind of energy that at times I simply don't have to give, but that's okay. I'm free to make that choice, as is everyone around me.
  17. Taken somewhere in virtual space and time~
  18. Some mistakes in the past I made in SL I also have to say I have made in RL - that would be compromising my own boundaries because I wanted who I wanted. Got burned and lessons learned. But as the saying goes, it made me stronger and I wouldn't make that same mistake again. My boundaries are my boundaries and someone either accepts that or we peacefully go our separate ways. However some of my boundaries I have learned were perhaps a bit too rigid and made out of fear, at least in SL (in RL I am still extremely cautious and protect my RL from SL). But letting people in SL know more about who I am and not suffering the feared and expected rejection was surprising and nice. So there's that 😊🏳️‍⚧️ I have fallen from height a lot of times in SL, being an explorer who can't seem to walk in a straight line 😅 so that's one SL mistake that shouldn't be attempted in my real!
  19. The only thing I would delete are my chat logs. My password would go to a trusted person so that they could delete my account completely once I am floating in the ether.
  20. I am learning to abandon the world before it can abandon me. -Linda Pastan I thought I would have a go at some of these photography threads. I enjoy trying to interpret song lyrics or quotes that I like or relate to through SL photography. This was taken in the sky at B sori https://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/B sori/166/72/23 This land is really lovely, I will go back again to take some pictures at ground level too.
  21. I use Flickr and Twitter, I deleted Facebook a long time ago as I found it had a negative impact on my mental health. I don't use my RL name online at all and never would. I feel safer that way. I don't have any particularly close friendships online so don't feel the need to share such information. Once it's told it can't be untold and that thought honestly makes me anxious. As far as SL, if I did make friends there it tended to be with like minded people who also didn't feel the need to share RL so it was never a problem. Although over the years I have to say I meet less and less people like that now; when I first joined SL, sharing RL info was just not a thing at all and even considered a bit rude or strange to ask. This is probably why I really have no close friendships in SL these days and log in less and less, it feels uncomfortably like another form of social media to me now where I must share who, what and where I am and what I had for dinner last night. Its just not for me I'm afraid. 😦
  22. I explore SL a lot, but I rarely accept experiences. Only once I can remember clicking yes because I was playing a quest so it was necessary to complete the quest and win. My reasons for not accepting are that I don't want to be teleported or animated unexpectedly- I prefer to find my own way around builds and make choices about how I will move, sit, etc. Especially if I'm trying to take a photo, I want full control. It's less a trust thing but more that I am just horribly independent! Also I have been in SL since 2007, perhaps I'm also just used to my own way of doing things.
  23. I quite enjoy Halloween as a time to have fun, without the same pressures I feel from the Christmas season. But the most I ever did in RL is carve a pumpkin. In SL I am more involved, but prefer to explore the spooky or magical builds for the season, rather than the gruesome zombie, corpse scattered variety. I do agree it goes on a bit long though, I'm fairly over it by the time the 31st arrives.
  24. RL has some amazing windlights or should I say EEP? 😂 I just wish everything was as clean and sparkly as (most of) SL (unless designed otherwise, mess and tumble down builds is so much prettier online!)
