Do I really need to get a mesh head? I've been living with this "system" head since a German guy (long since gone from SL) helped me design it. It's me. Tried many heads, but they all look weird to me. Comfy in my self with my HG body. Don't really wanna change :I

It's updated for my friends using FS and SL viewers, I'm told. But for me in Catznip it remains the old one (after restart). Landed at a place, and the new pic was on the "latest visitor" board. Still in Catznip it's the old one for me in my profile. Just curious as to why. No big deal, was just kinda happy that my hair kinda sorta matched my outfit Supposed to look like this.

Intel Core i5 1135G7 (Tiger Lake-U). Laptop. Intel Integrated Graphics, I've been told (no idea which version, but should be fairly recent). Yes, also been told that this is not optimal, but it's doing well enough for SL. However: I'm not that computer savvy, but a friend told me to install Core Temp. Right now, with just several Edge tabs open (mostly doing YouTube), it seems to be around 40 C. But it can quickly get up to 80 C and feel really, really hot when running Catznip and doing some heavy tasks in SL. Is going 80 C for extended periods damaging for my CPU? I see that one of the cores has been as high as 94 C. Again, not that tech savvy, but can follow instructions from those who are and can easily read a Core Temp chart It's only two years old. But getting hotter than it was when it was new. No way I'm opening it up by myself, but would something like compressed air be of any use at all?

The use of the wording "on SL" always confounds me. Granted, there/they're/their always rubs me the wrong way "also too" But "on" SL. Are you on, or are you in? On SL sounds like you are just watching the rest of us from above

I just reinstalled Catznip (my go-to) and got reverted back to the default cam. Oh noes. Easily fixed. But got me thinking, is this how most people navigate SL? You are missing out if so. At least try TinyCam and see how you like it. Then experiment a bit with your camera presets. Mostly the Z axis. Don't worry, you can always revert to default. But try it and SL might just feel lots, lots better

Driving on the Mainland can actually be fun, believe it or not. For some reason a Legends Bike, KCP/ACS, behaved better than my JFC or Moto Bazzi bikes. Usually the other way around on the Mainland. There was acutally quite a bit of traffic too, so had some interesting conversations along the way even. Not a bad trip.

I agree. Just keep your inventory organized from the start. At least try until you can't anymore...

One thing that might have changed is the Marketplace. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/ (LL link, don't worry it's safe). I was unaware of it at first, so just saying You can find a lot of nice free/1L stuff there, and if you go to the respective in-world stores, many with free groups, there are many gifts to be found, still some nice stuff for the standard avi many places as well. There are some reasonably priced and even free (sometimes for a limited time) mesh avis around, but my main advice would be: Don't be in a hurry. Try to enjoy and rediscover, and find out what you want to do and where you want to go. As for Lindens. You won't earn much, but fishing is actually a nice thing to do if you don't have any L$ at all while discovering new places, and while browsing the MP and the forums. I think SuperFish still give a few worms to fish with with their free pole (on MP). With rose tinted specs I still see my early times in SL as the best ones. That's because everything was new, I was extremely lucky with the people I met who took very good care of me, and I fell head over heels in love (we are still very good friends). I looked fairly decent back then, face wise, as I was gifted a shape that was easy to tweak to my own liking and the maker was a very talented guy. Was happy until I really discovered how my feet looked. Once you see that, it cannot be unseen. So Slink feet it was, when they came out. Difficult at first, but I got it eventually. Then the hands some time later. Kinda the same thing, only less urgent - they are less bad than the system feet. But I never would have gone back after that. Later it was "let's try that Slink Hourglass". Would never go back pre that either. A mesh bikini that actually fitted? Hallelujah. But when I comes to mesh heads, I've demoed lots, but never found one I like. I still have my system head, and the same shape that was gifted to me way back then. Works great with Hourglass, and system skins that matched it got lots better too (thanks, 7DS). I still get compliments on it. Wear what you like, I will never judge either way, but I spend quite a bit of time in shops, and many of the mesh heads people use just do not look like in the ads, many just look weird and lifeless and very similar. System heads can look at least, if not more, life like (in some cases, of course). Maybe I'll start to see that differently with time as well. Although I'm in much less hurry to get a mesh head now that BOM has arrived. What I guess I'm trying to get at is that I can see several sides here

Hi, wondering why I only get access to General in Catznip in-world search. I have G, M, A enabled in Preferences. I get all 3 in search when using the LL viewer (and on the MP). Tips, anyone?

Hourglass for me. Although a pretty slim shape. I have considered others, but sticking with Hourglass for the foreseeable future I think.

You know, the term "bake(ed)" has had me confused for a while. In one sentence you made it a little clearer.

I spent a lot of time at Caledon Oxbridge when I was new to SL. I found the instructors to be nice and extremely patient. I still remember chats with fellow students fondly from back then, we would hang around after classes and even go exploring together. Not just building classes, a lot of other stuff you need to know in SL as well. Just do a search for Caledon Oxbridge with in-world search. They have help in several languages. I did a lot of exploring alone as well. And a lot of fishing. Not so much to earn Linden dollars, but mostly to experience new places. I stumbled upon places and activities I really liked, and from there my social circle just grew slowly but surely. I still consider many people from back then close friends.

Facelights and Xcite bits are fads that are gone I hope. I have been quilty of both. But huggers? In the right context I find them cute (in the right context, mind you)

One thing we do agree on: If you ask someone how they are, you should probably be prepared to get an honest answer I just read a "how are you" as hi or hello.

The first time an American asked me how I was (RL) I must admit I was a little baffled. Felt like a very direct question. I think I just said hi other something like that. But I was very young then, and I am not from the U.S. I thought a lot of the world had moved beyond that by now, however, and would just reply with a "nice to meet you" or something. I most certainly have, long ago. But seems like it stil persists. Folks, there is no fakery involved. Most of the time it's just polite conversation. But I guess Americans need to wrap their minds around that it can still be perceived as rather weird too.

Valid enough questions. Hi or /me waves (as in gesture) is just fine with me. How else are you supposed to approach someone? Just don't stop talking if I answer. Silence is a major turnoff. Have something more to say. Compliments are old school, but still work. If you have an RL pic or RL info in your profile I'll politetly respond to you and move on. No matter how you look or your age etc. It's not about that. RL stuff sometimes happens in SL, and can be very nice. It's even happened to me. But it takes time of time, a lot of time. It's supposed to, the way I see it. Live your SL for a while first. It's SL, not a dating service.

I alwyays log out if I leave the (RL) appartment. I mean, almost everything is turned off then anyway. I was out of town 10 hrs for work today... Log off while sleeping 99.99 % of the time. Don't put my avi to bed if I am alone - just usually make sure I at least have some clothes on in case of a restart. I usually just TP home and log off. Sometimes (rarely) I don't even TP home, but mostly. But I have a special someone where we like to go to sleep together sometimes. And if we both have the next day off, wake up together. It is really something to experience. For me, at least. But sure, forgotten to log out a few times too. In my own home or worst case that of a good friend. But that's unintentional, though
