This is a heads-up for anyone who is using llRequestURL or llRequestSecureURL... It has come to our attention that some users may be validating that the returned URLs are in the domain they expect, presumably by matching them against something like 'sim.*\.agni\.lindenlab\.com'. These checks may have been inspired by simulator bugs that at one time or another have caused URLs to be returned that didn't work because some part of the domain name was missing. You should not attempt to validate the contents of the URL. The contents, including the domain name, returned by either of those methods will change when we begin using simulators in the cloud, and possibly sooner. The URLs returned will work (they already have for us in our own internal testing) but you should not assume anything about the URL contents - including the domain name, port number, or anything else. If you need to be sure that the URL as sent to some client is working, we suggest that you implement a simple health check capability in the handler for your inbound requests rather than attempting to predict whether or not through any examination of the URL contents. If you have URL content checks in your system now, we suggest that you remove them as soon as possible.

I do love the music scene in SL, and typically if I'm logged in I'm either shopping, building, or at a music venue. I have a few musicians I follow, but if they are performing at a venue in an adult region I don't go. I just get tired of the blatant sexual nudity and behavior. So I do check what the rating of the regions are before teleporting. That also goes for shopping. Most of the time if the region is rated adult I'm more likely to skip the shop. To make this a bit more on topic. My behavior when it comes to adult rated regions is the same type of behavior those presenting as child avatars will need to use. While I'm not required to change my avatar to go to an adult region, I just prefer not to go there, so I keep an eye out for where I'm going to end up. The funny thing is that I love raunchy humor, and have been told that oftentimes I sound like Betty White. But in truth I'm a bit straight laced. I apologize, this is probably more off topic than on. I'll restrain myself.

She is also very good about communicating with residents, whether it's about reboots, sim issues or new services that she is providing. I forget exactly. WIllowdale parcels are outstanding... beautifully landscaped with quality trees, plants, water features, birds, but with plenty of room (and LI) to add your home and your own landscaping and deco. Personally, I have never seen an estate where parcels are prepared this way. It must take considerable time and expense, and makes them welcoming even before you settle in. Tenants also get access to several fun areas, such as a racetrack and a glorious beach. But more importantly, the estate owner, Imagin Illyar, is very kind, and VERY prompt to help with any issues which might arise (for example, a region needed a restart due to some SL quirk). I have frequently recommended Willowdale to friends, for the reasons given above. Given what all you get, rents are very low. The rules are logical, common sense ones, clearly showing an understanding of how SL works - unlike others I have seen. Many rules are geared to peaceful coexistence with other tenants on the same region, such as restricting sounds to your own parcel, and keeping sky builds out of view of preexisting builds. In summary, I cannot recommend Willowdale enough. I found out that she owns and runs her sims all on her own, yet her service is top notch and she responds much faster than a lot of rental places that have people working for them. Goes to show that it's not always how big your name is in SL that makes a good service. After contacting her, I went ahead and rented a plot, it wasn't what I had in mind, because I wanted a corner at the time but was determinded to make Willowdale our home. I had asked that she let me know when she might have a corner up for rent and sure enough, good on her word, she did. So....another move was in store, but we didn't mind because we found our "forever" home with the best service possible! On the money side of things, Willowdale seems to be one of the few estates who offer 10% discount when you pay 4 weeks. This really comes in useful when paying a months tier. It was great as the parcel was already landscaped with tree and plants and flowers and a few discrete objects - like seating and a pontoon in the lagoon all with animations. No problem returning anything you don't need to the owner. Imagin was very helpful and understanding when I moved in. The parcel itself is beautiful... my visitor words, not just mine. It is also a quite private place to live with absolutely no annoyance from neighbors. No complains and Imagin is always ready with advice about how to get the best out of your investment. She also gives free things for winter landscaping. It is WELL worth the cost to rent land from Willowdale Estates, and I can't imagine living anywhere else on Second Life. Well I can't exactly show you.... but literally as a boy you would see nothing on the front, just completely flat with no texture any different to the rest of the skin. If I was nude (I never have been nor will I ever) you'd see my bottom. So the major difference between the current skins for kids is now there will be underpants covering the rear. On the front all you're doing is replacing a peach (insert any other skin tone) colour for a white/black/blue/red whatever underwear texture.

I think we should stop this part of the discussion on perceived age vs. ethnicity. We're all part of the human race. The concept of "race" as defining subgroups of humans is faulty. Lighter skin shows the aging effect of exposure to sunlight more, which is why white/ Caucasian people get wrinkles easier. Smoking and worrying alot can also create more wrinkles. Americans, Europeans, or "Western" people are not just white people though. If you want to use geography to define ethnicity, real Americans would be indigenous people, not the decendents of Europeans or others who came to the Americas later. European-Americans are not more American than other ethnicities. Perceived age is an intrinsically subjective value too. A person of Japanese ethnicity probably has no problem judging the age of another person of Japenese ethnicity. Someone who is less familiar with Japanese facial features is more likely to misjudge their age, however.

I prefer Dark-skinned American, instead of black but that's just me. I know people will continue to say black or white, to me, I'm just an American with brown skin.

I forget exactly. WIllowdale parcels are outstanding... beautifully landscaped with quality trees, plants, water features, birds, but with plenty of room (and LI) to add your home and your own landscaping and deco. Personally, I have never seen an estate where parcels are prepared this way. It must take considerable time and expense, and makes them welcoming even before you settle in. Tenants also get access to several fun areas, such as a racetrack and a glorious beach. But more importantly, the estate owner, Imagin Illyar, is very kind, and VERY prompt to help with any issues which might arise (for example, a region needed a restart due to some SL quirk). I have frequently recommended Willowdale to friends, for the reasons given above. Given what all you get, rents are very low. The rules are logical, common sense ones, clearly showing an understanding of how SL works - unlike others I have seen. Many rules are geared to peaceful coexistence with other tenants on the same region, such as restricting sounds to your own parcel, and keeping sky builds out of view of preexisting builds. In summary, I cannot recommend Willowdale enough. I respect all cultures, races and such also but how I see something and you see something, how we interpret words and in this case avatars, will be dependent on many aspects. It's not cut and dry. It has nothing whatsoever to do with respect. People may see my avatar and think she's all ghetto and speaks as such because they have a bias. They may have only grown up around black people who spoke like that. Are they correct? Not in my case. I grew up in a predominantly white community. So although their assumption about me is incorrect, it's still based on their own race, age, upbringing. Do they respect me any less for being black? I don't know nor do I care what strangers think. It's their opinion and we're all entitled to them. Opinions aren't right or wrong necessarily unless facts prove otherwise. This is the basis for why avatar age determination is subjective and not objective.

IMHO, the BBX Cloud is the best boat for beginners, who want a motor boat, because it's the most versatile motor boat I own. It's easy to pilot, and small, but not too small. It's size makes it extremely maneuverable. I sail rivers a lot, so maneuverability is important for me. The Cloud is also not too small for doing the big cruises, up around the Blake, and Nautilus.

@Henri Beauchamp the maker of the Cool Viewer, gave away a free height meter, that's much better than the broken "red and white thing" it's far more accurate, as can be verified by actually using a prim to manually measure your height. Whenever I see somebody say "height meters are not accurate" I know that I'm listening to somebody who either a) has never seen anything but the red and white stick, or b) only uses the Official Fail-Viewer, or c) has NO IDEA how they things actually work, and what the actual limitations really are, and how one works around them. Also, not everyone uses Firestorm, and you can't use firestorms appearance editor to check anyone's height but your own. And there's a technically incorrect BS statement to submit to the Hall of Fame. Something's height doesn't change depending on the units used, all you have to do is convert from one unit type to another, it's not rocket science.

I'm using, or trying to, shared media to deliver a web form hosted in a Google Cloud bucket. When the user fills out the form and clicks a submit button, the form sends the data to a discord webhook. The Discord endpoint sends a confirmation back to the form saying that the data has been received, or that there's been an error. When the form receives this confirmation/error message, I want to send a message back to the shared media object, so it can tell the person submitting the data that their message has been received or not. My plan is to call llRequestSecureURL and send the URL as a parameter of the Google url (it has to be llRequestSecureURL because it needs to be an HTTPS address, not an HTTP one). However, for this to work, I need to ensure that Google bucket recognises the LL Certificate Authority, and I don't know how to do this. The wiki says Can someone please expand on this? Or can someone suggest a workaround?

I can double down on that bet and be very comfortable in stating that the team of lawyers has gone over the proposed changed, advised the board accordingly and that the board is taking whatever advice the lawyers have dispensed very seriously. I'm sure Linden Lab has put a lot of consideration into the new policies (as sketchy as they may be in some areas of interpretation by arm chair commentators on the forums) before going forward. I expect maybe some of this testing waters and getting community feedback before anything is fully nailed down. speculation, yes. As an outside observer you have chosen to weigh into the fray, in a forum not an official communication channel for the customers to the company, all in support of your friend. I commend that... provisionally. Standing up for your friend, if this is what she wanted, or at least is not wholly opposed to you coming in and climbing up on a soapbox. But even if it's White Knighting, I will concede that maybe the heart is in the right place, but as an outsider, there are a lot of nuance and details which you just can't know and can't properly comment on. In thinking about this, it makes perfect sense - but had not previously occurred to me. I will now be adding BOM undies to whichever outfits I have that were relying on a alpha layer. It also made me wonder about my "invisible" outfit. I checked the skin on that one, and it is a solid white skin, so even if it rezzed before the alpha took effect, there is still nothing to see.

You can check your channels in Painters main 3D viewport. The default view is “Material”, click the drop down arrow to view other individual channels. The metallic channel should be black. Assuming the dress is not meant to be reflective, the roughness values should be light grays to white. As Zal said, the right image looks like it is an emissive issue. Double click the material in SL to open it, select the emissive map (if there is one) and remove it by selecting “none”. Also change the emissive color from white to black. Screenshots of the ORM map channels from Painter and the PBR material editor in SL may be needed if you want more specific advice.

I'm not sure this post can stay intact for long so I tried to sanitize it a bit in case it helps, because it's a thing that needs to be said (over and over again, apparently). By citing that source the Medium piece advertised itself as nothing but bitterly demented fanfic. But people were eager to fall for it, including people who definitely should have known better. It's undoubtedly helpful to do as the Lab has done and craft policy to increase confidence in the future environment. But that doesn't go very far to reduce doubt about the past. Maybe there's a PR rule that says not to waste time addressing past allegations; maybe nothing can ever be said to sway the conspiracy theorists from their theories. (At some level, I guess we know that's true.) Nonetheless, there will remain a cloud here if the Lab can't go a few steps further to reveal the process followed in those external investigations even if it's counterproductive to ever offer concrete debunking facts. I suppose the more specific response would involve repeating false claims in order to refute them, giving them more mindshare in the process. Would it help to have a statement from one of the outside investigators? Is there anything they could say that wouldn't have the same downside of repeating lies in the process of refuting them?

I love this topic. Like Eowyn, I've got a lot of boats (...just one more is all I need) from a lot of makers, and I'm always on the water or haunting boatyards. BBX has been mentioned, and I think because of your need for a workable TV, that's the absolute best route to go. Build is excellent. Poses are excellent. Easy to pilot and learn on. All around very well built. With BBX, the boats after 2017 are updatable - so keep an eye on that. On the bottom right you'll find the date built (should say BBX Yachts YEAR). Try these (you can demo them at the BBX Mainstore on the Sunny Bay sim): GT X1 (or X2 if you want a little extra height; both are more traditional-looking mid-size yachts) Cloud or Ozzo (kind of retro/classic looks both) SPD X4 is new and really angular if you like that sort of thing Plus, Aymec Millet is a sweetheart and his customer service is EXCELLENT. You can't go wrong. As Bubblesort said...demo! The most important thing is to find what you like! Other builders that I really like are Rattletrap (quirky and pricey, but very sexy; designed after classic Italian wooden yachts), Bandit/TMS (generally the most popular and well built and very modifiable...their sailboats are generally the standard with a lot of races and regattas in-world using them), the Halob 8 by Rubber Bunny is a hoot to pilot.
