  1. Without the hassle of having to use an applier, we can once again make outfits without having to save with an applier attached or make multiple copies of the body with the applier (skin, clothing, whatever) applied to the body. As my alt, I am a moderator for the Maitreya Lara Friends Group so I am very much aware of the support that goes into helping people use their mesh bodies. The question of how do I save an outfit with an applier is a constant question and headache. Can't we just let appliers die? Bite the bullet, do some work, and move on. I hope that once day we will look back to using appliers the way we look back at using sculpts now. They were necessary at one time but aren't we glad we don't need them anymore!
  2. I have such a love/hate relationship with appliers. To be honest, when I first heard of the Bakes on Mesh project, I jumped for joy because I thought finally we can get rid of appliers. Yes, I understand it will be some work to add system layers to my applier only products, but I'm willing to do it if it means I don't have to deal with making appliers ever again!
  3. Silly of them. Do they think those of us who have been in SL any time at all don't know how to cam? LOL .. I can stand on the ground and cam up to the highest skyboxes and see inside. There is no such thing as privacy in SL! Flying only benefits me in that I can move much more quickly flying than walking. I don't know why I still get surprised at how little some know about how SL works, but I do!
  4. HUD shopping has been attempted several times over the past few years. They've lasted so briefly that I can't remember any of their names. One focused on shoes, 21 something or other. Then one came out that had three categories, sales, half off, and normal. It was a huge HUD. It didn't last long. There have been others but as I said the names escape me because they just haven't lasted long enough to make an impression. I'm not keen on using a HUD to tp around to mainstores for shopping. I'd much rather have everything in one location. I love event shopping. I go within the first couple of hours of opening. I go, grab a ton of demos, run back home, try them on and make a list of what I want to buy. Then I tp back, again within hours of the event opening, to make my purchases. I am premium and that does help me to get in but this has been my practice since way before they offered the premium perk. I use the 'render only friends' feature in Firestorm so don't have rezzing issues at all. I do move off the landing point, though not far, and cam shop always. I will occasionally visit the main stores of those brands that make an impression on me from the various events I frequent. No one is going to keep me from flying anywhere. One of the main reasons I keep the advanced menu visible is to use the fly override option.
  5. I like using this flickr stream, https://www.flickr.com/groups/exploresecondlife/pool/, to find interesting places to explore.
  6. I understand the shift from a land based economy to a sales based economy. I even accept that raising fees is justifiable as long as land costs continue to go down. If people have to spend less on land they will shop more. That's good for business. But it also means that since the cost of overhead will rise then my prices and other merchants prices must also rise to cover the cost of doing business. This is simple economy 101. The big issue for me now is how are you going to improve the tools for merchants? My bare minimum suggestions are: 1. In Sansar, we have a redelivery button so that any customer can have purchases redelivered. We absolutely MUST have that here in SL. 2. We need tools that make it easy to have flash sales in our MP stores. 3. Finally, we need a MP tool to reward our customers for purchases with store credits and a way to use those credits when making MP purchases. My current vendor system, which just announced it's retirement from the grid, does all of these for me. But why should I have to buy a vendor system to do this for my MP store? If I'm going to be paying more for your services then I should be given the tools to make the money to pay your fees. I don't like the idea of being at the mercy of another merchant who can pull the system out from under my feet again. I also would like to see a LL vendor system in world, but I realize that's a pipe dream as it would take sales away from our current vendor merchants.
  7. I've been making mesh clothing using Marvelous Designer for Sansar clothing. Many of those are complex outfits with multiple garments worn as a one piece outfit. I have to make one texture for all the pieces as we don't have faces for MD clothing yet in Sansar. Consequently, I have been using multiple normal and roughness (specular equivalent for SL) maps and layering those in the proper order and then flattening to make the complex normals, etc. I don't know why this method would not work for Bakes on Mesh.
  8. If you're going to go with mesh hands and feet, you might as well go full body now instead of spending on hands and feet and then later if you want a full body, unless buying a Slink body, you won't be able to use the hands and feet .. and then you've wasted money.
  9. I'm in the same boat, and I absolutely must have a redelivery system. If Linden Lab's Marketplace had a redelivery button like they do in Sansar, I'd forgo an inworld shop altogether and just use the Marketplace, but alas they don't. Those that use Casper, is there an easy way to migrate my data from E2V to Casper?
  10. Don't forget Maitreya for clothing and shoes .. nothing fits a Maitreya body better. Also, try Addams, Tres Blah, Neve, and Coco for clothing. Reign and Fri.day for shoes. Unless jewelry is specifically rigged for the body, and most are not, then just about any jewelry will work with the Maitreya body. I even have a couple of sets of bento rings for the Maitreya body.
  11. You're not going to get good results with any mesh body and it's layers at less than medium graphics.
  12. Second Life won't have HMDs so no, SL won't ever be RPO, but Sansar very much could be. There is a new experience in Sansar based on RPO, called: Ready Player One: Aech's Basement. It is the VR recreation of Aech’s Basement from Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One. Interpreted from the original ILM design for Ready Player One from Warner Bros. Pictures, Amblin Entertainment and Village Roadshow Pictures, opening on March 29, 2018. © and ™ Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. All rights reserved. 13. here's how the subscription levels work in Sansar .. we might get some insight into how they are thinking
  14. I'm thinking this is a pretty good guess seeing as how the amount of support in Sansar is directly dependent on the level of membership.
  15. I keep my sun at default unless I am doing photos or doing a build and I need bright light for that. One of my favorite aspects of Second Life is watching how the sun rises and sets over the landscape.
  16. I won't buy any hair this is no mod unless the hair has a tinting hud included. I want to be able to tweak the color of the hair. I've yet to find a shade of red or brown right out of the box that I like. I won't change the shape of my head for hair, period. I'm not a fan of the now popular style huds because I'd rather not be wearing a lot of invisible mesh to hike up my complexity levels. I'd much prefer the creator to include the various styles in the folder and let me pick the one I want to wear. I love variety so there's no style I consider off limits. Good hair texture is a must!
  17. FrankLee Anatra, Savannah Rain, Max Kleene, Katia Keres, Reggie Sunset, and Oldwolf Criss.
  18. OMG .. I forgot .. gotta make a pie today! Thanks for reminder.
  19. Follow up on your response to my response. Even if the creator has the old texture, you might want to go ahead and have a new one made. The textures we all used back then for system body were 512s .. today most textures used for tats on mesh bodies are 1024s. You'll get a much better looking tattoo with that resolution. While I totally recommend using 512s or even smaller for things like nail polish and very small pieces of applier clothing, a tattoo really needs the details specially if it's one you plan to wear on a daily basis.
  20. I always try the demo for several reasons: 1. Even my favorite creators sometimes make things that just don't look good on my shape or I don't like the color/print options for that particular garment. 2. Some merchants sell mesh created by full-perm mesh creators, so it's possible that just because something on their shelf was a perfect fit last time doesn't mean the one I'm looking at now was even created by the same creator or rigged by the same person. 3. Most of the time I want to be sure the clothing item will work with the clothes already in my inventory. For instance, when buying a top I will see if it will work with my favorite pants/skirts.
  21. If you're right clicking and copying the UUID of the tattoo in your inventory, you're not actually getting the UUID of the texture used to make that tattoo but rather the UUID of the tattoo layer. If the creator gave you the UUID of the texture used to make that tattoo, then it should work to make an applier for your body.
